Hey David, I am a student at Western and I came across your channel while preparing for my PhD Qualifying exams. Thankyou for helping me pass! But a bigger thankyou for not letting me down like most academics who do not apply what they teach. Thankyou for educating about Palestine and settler colonialism.
Hi David, I have been a subscriber to your channel for some years. Your work and scholarship have informed and continue to inform my work as a PhD student; to say that I appreciate you is an understatement. I thank you for tackling the Palestinian question with poise and clarity. Your analysis is one of the best I have heard on this topic. In honor of your work, I donated to the Palestinian Children’s Relief Fund.
Thank you for speaking the truth when so many on RUclips refuse (cough Esoterica, cough RFB). The existence of Irgun and their ilk is never taught in the West. This is what critical theory and philosophy should be! Not navelgazing about words "A people without a land for a land without a people" is a genocidal slogan, NOT "from the river to the sea"...
I wouldn't expect less from someone knowledgeable in the history of colonialism to spot the same patterns repeating against Palestinians. Bravo, David and love the keffiyeh. ❤
He speaks slowly and eloquently, yet he clearly doesn't understand the roots of the conflict and doesn't know the facts about the subject, so he gets to conclusions divorced from reality. Basically even his suggestions get more peaceful Gazans dead or worse off. I would steer clear of this confused individual if I were to want less civilians dead on the Gazan side, or the Israeli side... If you want to know why specifically, I would gladly talk... I really tried to listen to his "analysis", the result is a comment I made earlier...
Thank you for doing this David, I wish other RUclipsrs dealing with the humanities had as much courage as you. That said the history you describe at around 12:00 has been challenged by some Israeli historians themselves. Shlomo Sand argues quite convincingly in “How the Jewish People was Invented” that the Romans never expelled the Jews and Arabs did not settle there en masse. In other words, present day Palestinians likely are, according to him and others, the descendants of Ancient Jews, they never left or were expelled, they just converted to Christianity and then Islam for the most part. I really encourage people to read that book, it really deconstructs the myths around Jewishness, it’s mind blowing.
David, earlier this year I unfollowed everyone who hadn’t spoken up about P. But somehow I kept subscribing to your channel, I knew you’d come out in your support. And here you are, thank you for doing your work and thank you for spreading awareness.
I was a little slow out of the gate because I took a lot of time to read up on the history to have as informed an approach as possible to avoid charges of ignorance that Zionists love to scream about. I wish I started sooner. Free Palestine.
@@TheoryPhilosophy It takes courage to be this intellectually honest. Academics largely have been very disappointing and even joined in the abuses of student protestors sometimes, but not you. Not to say RUclipsrs have to talk about EVERY political issue in the news, but genocide is a different ballgame.
Really appreciate you speaking up about the history of Palestine and Zionism/the absolute madness of what's going on in Palestine currently. Emperialism must be ended; it's various tools, (war, colonialism, racism, supremicism, unilateral ability to impose economic sanctions) dismantled. Free Palestine 🍉
I've been everywhere and I always visit where the Jews used to live before Israel relocated them starting in the 1950s. Generally, the emigrants regretted their decision and wanted to return to their homeland. But because they had renounced their citizenship, had limited means, and were officially regarded as disloyal, they found themselves trapped in an alien and stratified society where their cultural, linguistic, and religious practices were stripped from them. The Jews who stayed behind retained their status and unique folkways, but are too few to be viable.
Haj Amin Al-Husseini, the Mufti of Jerusalem, was a Nazi ally and got a promise from Hitler to build an extermination camp for Jews once the Nazis conquer the land. he also made blood libel to incite against Jews who have been living in Jerusalem and Hebron since biblical times (Jerusalem was majority Jewish until 1900's) which culminated in a pogrom that removed the native Jewish population in Hebron and in Gaza from their homes in 1929. This massacre took the lives of hundreds of defenseless people, and displaced thousands.
Thank you for the valuable input in highlighting in one fell swoop why a genocide has been happening in Palestine. You remind me of the Nazi-sympathizing apologists of the Holocaust. Over 30,000 civilians have been murdered since October last year and half of that was women and children who died in the most gruesome way and here you are to justify an 80-year-long slaughter and justify in advance more mindless bloodlust to come from Israel.

I can't relate to most of my culture and indeed anti semitism is a part of our identity. up to the point that we have not overcome nationalism in favour of humanism none of this would end. I hope you also try to educate my fellow Arabs and not focus only on the Israeli side. keep up the good work. much love.
