I love both NOFX and Hi-standard deeply and deeply. Thank you NOFX from the bottom of my heart. I'll go see you when I come to Japan. Of course Tsune is with me too!!
I love his drumming so much. So fast, so precise, so fun, so original, it's an absolute pleasure to listen to. I can listen to Hi-Standard songs again and again and still discover new notes on the drums here and there (and I've been listening to them since the 90s), understanding some fillings better that are hard to catch at the speed he used to play. Definitely a drummer that left his mark on me, and he's a drummer I'll never forget, playing in a band I'll probably be listening to till the end of my life. RIP Akira Tsuneoka and all my best sincere feelings from France to his family and friends.
Hopefully that's just the last show. Melvin said there's a possibility that the band will continue to put out new recorded music, saying, "[Mike] still wants to record and release records as NOFX. So we'll see how that works..." So, fingers crossed!
Trip on this… I grew up in the Bay Area and saw NOFX in 1985 because they played at a pizza joint in Redwood City called Pony Express Pizza that I happened to hang out at in high school. I bought an Ep. One of the first 500 ever, from Fat Mike. I saw them a few years later in a club in SF and they didn’t suck as much. Then I saw them in 89 and they were better. Then a chick turned me on to Ribbed. I was like, hey, I remember them! Holy shit balls! Well, nearly 40 years later, I’ve seen them on 3 continents in 4 countries about 20x and they are by far, the greatest band ever. I don’t think there’s a question. I almost played support for you guys in 1994 in San Jose (just in case anyone in Fat reads this). But my singer had a problem with some other band that couldn’t draw flies but wanted the support slot, so he said no. I went to the Cow Palace show. I’m live now in Phx. I’m going to be in Denver with a bro pass and I’m going to bring the Ep. Maybe it’ll get signed? And I have the 3 day pass in San Pedro. There isn’t a chance in the world that I would miss the last shows. Especially the last one. I cried when Fatty cried in SF. I also got teary during The Decline. Montana, Germany, Perth, and all over California. Check out my thumbnail. 😊
Damn dude I see you everywhere online, I wonder how many times we crossed paths in real life. I was at the SF show too, and I’m sure I’ll catch you at the Denver show
Can't wait to see NOFX on July 21st in Denver for their last tour! They have been one of my favorite bands since high school and I'm 37 now and I've never gotten to see them live before so I had to make sure I caught them on this tour!!
The last show up in Minnesota in August is going to be bittersweet 😢I love this band it has given me so many years and memories of the best diy band all time ❤
NOFX ain't my kind of music BUT I have mass respect for them after seeing them last year for my birthday and reading their book. My dude is a long time fan.
This video was exactly what I needed today. Been in a bad place but this song pulled me out from it, temporarily. Thanks for making such dope music. What a pleasant surprise.
Right there with you. I dove in with no expectations and quickly realized this song is astonishingly specifically suited to my current situation. These guys consistently outdo themselves
It was such an unexpected surprise. Pretty wild that even after all these years they can still drop an amazing song like this. Glad it has helped us, and others, through the difficulties of our modern times. @@DylanMurray360
This sounds like some other songs blended into one. But another gem. This is Fatty. At least in his own mind 😂. He has lived an amazing life and his songs are eternal. In my humble opinion, Mike Burkett is the greatest composer and songwriter of the last 41.36 years. He started out learning, but he came out strong about 32 years ago and has been EPIC ever since. The work ethic, the company, the confidence, the braggadocio… The honesty, humility and dedication and passion have made this the most important band in the last 30 years. Long live NOFX. THANK YOU.
What a track!! I havent had those new banger of a song feels for a good few years and it definitely took the edge off my middle aged, drug dependent train wreck of an existence for a few sweet minutes.
