My son really liked Ember series, Van Gogh Deception series. His favorite series this past year was the Theodore Boone series. He doesn't necessarily love a series, but those held his interest the whole way thru! He is also reading the next level of Bear Grylls series. I found them on amazon. He said the first book was not great but after that he is enjoying them. The Bliss Bakery series was also a hit at that age!!!
This was fabulous -- I love how even when my kiddo is in first grade but he is a bit higher academically that I can always glean fabulous ideas from you. Mostly have fun while we are learning! I picked up some math bedtime books and I am gonna purchase the mastermind kids version. Have the best school year and as always thanks so much for sharing!!
Explorer Academy is a favorite here! In fact, when we went to Hawaii last year and were trying to decide what island to go to, the kids unanimously decided on Kauai so we could see Hanalei Bay where Cruse (the main character) surfs. We were even able to do surfing lessons there. It was so cool! I hope Emily likes them. Another series that’s similar to some you showed is the Brotherband Chronicles. That one is popular at our library. And I don’t know if she’s read any from the Warrior series by Erin Hunter, but that is a HUGE rabbit hole with TONS of sub series. My boys are loving it and it’s also really popular at the library.
This was so great! Thank you for sharing!!! You gave me some great ideas. I checked out a couple books you mentioned and add more stuff to my never ending Amazon cart!
we LOVE Paint Chip Poetry - we have been doing it for a couple years! We also love the Word of the Day. and we have the This Day in History which we use but I am not a fan of some of the information provided. Excited to purchase some of your recommendations. I have my 13 year old watch your videos so she can let me know what she wants too!
We also loved the hatchet series! In my daughter’s Jr. High they did 6th grade world history and then 7th and 8th grade US History and they’re actually using the big book US History in the class! Love clue! May have to look those up!
Lol. Another comment. I heard you talk about Top Trumps so much so I finally got a set to go with our Ancient Rome unit and the kids have been loving it. It’s been a good way to learn about the gods, goddesses and emperors.
Logic is going to be our thing this year. We really enjoy the mind benders books. Definitely going to check out the Two truths and a Lie books. They sound fun!
The Van Gogh Deception was good, but the first third was very slow… The writing in Explorer’s Academy is fantastic! EA 100% one of my personal favorites now. Wonderful characters and lovely descriptions of the world.
Im in the uk. Love some of the games you show but can't always get them here, or an absolute fortune. Do still love your hauls asthy give me ideas of i can't always find the exact same things.
I love all your hauls! Thanks, so many great ideas. I'd be really interested to see a weekly timetable if that would be possible? I feel like we have so many resources but just dont know how to fit in the time to use them all 🙈
YES! I was just telling my husband this exact thing. I have so many ideas but not enough time. It would be awesome to see examples of realistic ways to incorporate all these awesome resources.
I saw in your haul that you had bought the book Never After by Melia de la Cruz. That author also has a series called Descendants which has 4 books in the series and Movies to go along with it I'm sure Emily would enjoy that series as well. My goal is to start reading more as I don't normally like reading and the Descendants books were my favourite ones that helped me get more into reading.
I'm not the person you asked but I had to stop buying used books b/c I was getting things that smelled like dryer sheets, moldy etc and I get headaches from that. I sniff test my library books. lolllll I get a lot on Book Outlet though - they are new but were overstocked items so you can get cool stuff but not always everything on your list.

Love this video! I saw a bunch of chapter books that I love - I hope Emily loves them, too!
Thank you so much for sharing all of this! It gave me so many ideas!
My kids love the Wilderlore series!
The Hatchet series is excellent…both my girls loved it. I’m excited to read it with my boys in a couple years.
Thanks for the logic ideas - I just purchased Two Truths and a Lie. My little boy will love them!
Thank you!
Insignificant life events of a cactus is amazing! And we love the audio version and its a series

I spent many an hour playing Spy Alley when I was a kid, it’s so fun! I will have to find it for my daughter now.
I would love a video of games that are good for one or two player!

Great haul! I'm checking out the paint chip poetry. It looks a fun one. Thanks for sharing.
Just added so many of these to our list 😂
Dang it!!!! I just had to add a few items off this to our school list!
I'd highly recommend the Wolf Brother series by Michelle Paver. Great series
I used to LOVE mastermind!
Read The Birchbark House with her. It is my daughter’s favorite book. We are reading through the rest in the series.
I put quite a few things in my cart from your haul!
Lol. Another comment. I heard you talk about Top Trumps so much so I finally got a set to go with our Ancient Rome unit and the kids have been loving it. It’s been a good way to learn about the gods, goddesses and emperors.
Great video!!
Yes, girl! There were days early on that we survived with donated games and a library card.
If you have audible, Framed is free on there. In case you guys want to do that book on audio. 😊
Great picks! I always have an Amazon cart going 😂
How quickly do you all read books? Because wow.
Logic is going to be our thing this year. We really enjoy the mind benders books. Definitely going to check out the Two truths and a Lie books. They sound fun!
My kids enjoyed the audio book of Dealing With Dragons.
Can you review some of the games you bought after you play them?
The Van Gogh Deception was good, but the first third was very slow… The writing in Explorer’s Academy is fantastic! EA 100% one of my personal favorites now. Wonderful characters and lovely descriptions of the world.
Can you tell us how Emily likes the logic stuff after she reads them?

Am I the only person who has Amazon open, filling a cart while watching???😅😅😅
Lol no me too, but I'm homeschooling a very young child so I shouldn't buy anything haha
Guilty ✋
@ashleydaugherty7710 only the end was helpful for the age I'm working with but I'm obsessed with these videos
Jessica does have a link in the video description to all the products she shows. She earns commissions that way. Easy than searching for it.
Lol nope
I think that shade of pink is your color. You look very beautiful in this video. Just FYI. Thanks for the haul video.
Honest question (absolutely NO shade): just curious why you always purchase new books rather than sourcing the ones you can from Thriftbooks etc?
I'm not the person you asked but I had to stop buying used books b/c I was getting things that smelled like dryer sheets, moldy etc and I get headaches from that. I sniff test my library books. lolllll I get a lot on Book Outlet though - they are new but were overstocked items so you can get cool stuff but not always everything on your list.
@@allyg8846same! I get a really bad allergic reaction to most used books 😢
Where I am thriftbooks is frequently more expensive 😕.
Is she 6th grade already!?!
