This is amazing! Job very well done! I had a question in regards to traveling with the RED Epic-W. Do you travel with a pretty good amount of equipment? Or do you travel light? I know most people use Pelican cases for RED cameras and equipment, but I was wondering if there was any other solutions for traveling light. I am trying to find a back pack solution when traveling with my RED Epic-W/Some lenses/Batteries. I appreciate any answers. Thanks!
Thanks Matthew! I just made a video a few weeks ago on my channel about a backpack and pelican case that I use on these weekend-overseas shoots. On this particular trip I had everything in a backpack and one normal carry-on size case that I packed with my Glidecam and a few v-mount batteries. All of the lenses and RED Brain stayed in my pack. We packed light bc the two of us walked, Ubbered and traveled by train everywhere.
Awesome! Thank you. I just acquired a RED Epic-W, and I do testimonial videos for my company, so I travel here and there. I wanted to find an alternative option to the pelican case for the RED that is more backpack specific. But I will definitely check out your video! And thanks again, it is much appreciated. Also, your videos are amazing, and the work you do is just as amazing. God bless.
Hi...superb video...how do you feel editng Epic W footages? Are they slow in editing premiere. I guess for this video you might have lot of data. How did you manage to edit such huge file size..thanks in advance
Hey Tom, the file sizes are larger than most compressed formats (AVCHD, MP4, MOV... etc.) but the 8K files aren't much different than editing 5K or 6K footage. RAW footage in general is pretty taxing on a computer but I'm working on a MacPro and another iMac each with higher-end processors and RAM so I mostly see lag on realtime playback inside Premiere. I can get around this when assembling footage by reducing Playback Resolutions. Then I'll boost it back up to color. As for now, it's just the nature of RAW video editing but it's nothing that disrupts my typical workflow. I also bring small 1-2TB drives with me on the trip and then upload everything to a 20TB RAID system when I'm back at the studio. The key to editing is ALWAYS BACKUP MULTIPLE LOCATIONS. So invest in some G-Technology 7200RPM or SSD storage. Sounds like a new video I'll need to put together. haha Can you think of any other specific questions? (hope this helps a bit)
Thanks Man for detailed info..I am a follower of your works and keep posting..I have subscribed you..I am a fence sitter whether to go Epic w or Scarlet W. Do you see any difference between the two or do you think it is worth to upgrade or go for Epic W when compared to Scarlet W. I know Epic W is very good for low light than Scarlet W. Apart from it, do you see worth 29500 to go for Epic W or better go with Scarlet W...thanks in advance
Honestly, for that price gap - you can do SO much with the Scarlet W but the ISO shows grain at 3200 where the Epic W is still clean at ISO 3200. Besides that - the resolution is the biggest difference. 5K vs 8K but honestly, on a 5K monitor, I can't tell the difference. Especially on a 4K TV - they basically look the same. However, I will say that I've done projects that requires a lot of rescaling or repositioning and it's fantastic to have the 8K base to work with and still leave with a 4K video. If you'd like to see my biggest example of this checkout the Christmas table top video on my channel. It's a BTS look at how we made a static shot into a "long slider" shot from top down.
Watched this on a 25" Dell QHD Ultrasharp panel. This looks fantastic. Can't even imagine what 8K on this size looks like.
Stunning visuals, excellent storytelling. Your killing it man.
Thanks Kevin! Appreciate it bro!

Thank you so much...would love to see more films from you...
Can it balance on a Dji Ronin mx with EF glass and batteries running off a Vlock belt?
Ali Walker this was Glidecam HD4000 but you can probably configure your setup to work
Nice job ! :O What lens do you use ? :)
Nath L thanks! I used the Canon Cine 14mm prime and 24-70mm on this film 🎥
Myles Shank Thanks you ! And with a glidcam?
great shooting. however, as you get older the more you understand there is no right or wrong - there is only perspective and first hand experience.
