What a blessing that I found your page today! I set aside this day to grieve the passing, early this morning, of my much loved brother-in-law, a missionary to the Sawi tribe in Western New Guinea, Indonesia many years ago. Over the course of reading my Bible, praying, and praising God for Don's life and his impact on world missions, and drawing on several portions of Elisabeth Elliot's book, I found my way here. Your testimony and your humble, smiling reassurance of God's love and faithfulness were a gift to me today. I've written down one statement you made and look forward to sharing it. You said "Life is painful for everyone. Trusting God to take away pain is admirable, but trusting God's will and love when He doesn't take away the pain, that's our greatest opportunity to demonstrate our faith." So wise, and for me--personal, as I struggle with daily pain from a spinal condition. I am thankful to "meet" you and will be praying for you and Ginny.
I sat in the auditorium at Amsterdam in 2000 about 60 feet from the stage and heard for the first time from Steve saint and Mincye of the equador 5. I work as an evangelist in New Zealand and speak to many children around this country. I tell the story often of Jim, Rodger, Pete, Ed and Nate but also of Rachel and the conversion of the Auca. The kids are always moved by it and sometimes I see adult leaders with tears in their eyes. Blessings John Laing.
So encouraged to receive this update. You always challenge others so well to live more fully. 12 years ago my son and I had the privilege to spend a weekend with you at a father son retreat. It was life changing for us both. Thank you.
I well remember the morning in Sunday School when I learned about your accident, Steve. I'd met you and Mincaye at Foothills Bible Church, and it was there a few years later that I heard the news as I prepared to write our class's prayer requests on the whiteboard in our classroom. As soon as we all bowed our heads, I dropped to my knees and then down on my face in the carpet. Because, oh me of little faith, I was afraid I'd scream, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, GOD?" In the past 5 years, dropping in and visiting with you from time to time via the wonders of RUclips, Abba has changed my own thinking. You bless His people with your patient endurance and the palpable joy on your face as you share your life with us. You give us hope. You inspire -- breathe into us -- the grace and peace the Lord has given you. And we are grateful. Thank you for your honesty, humility, humor. One of these days there's going to be a big party; you're going to get invited to go up near the head of the table, but eventually I'll look forward to saying "hi" again after a few thousand years or so.
Dear brother Steve. My husband and I we serve the Lord in Poland preaching the Gospel of our Lord Jesus.just wanted to let you know that as a youg Christian I was touched by the story of your father and his friends and then your story and your aunt's. I Praise God for workers like you and your example of faith edifies and deeply encourages me.We pray for you and your wife here in Poland.1 Cor.15:58 Magdalena
Is there a 10 year update? I prayed for you & your continued ministry today. God brings you all to mind & I revisit your story & videos often, especially when needing reminders of God’s faithfulness & goodness in the midst of my own painful God-authored story. Just today, I shared your “Mendicant” video & channel with a group of women living out gospel-driven hope & courage in the midst of debilitating chronic illnesses. Our Lord continues to use your story in ways you’ll never know until you see them from the other side of the veil.
Mr. Saint, it is rare mankind on a higher path above , such as yourself, that will separate and inspire the wheat from the chafe, to come, in future generations of enlightened missionaries, that will guide this world out of the darkness...your relationship, better than ever, with your wife, makes me smile wide...inside.
we remember God's faithfulness Steve. As u said we dont want to show any pity or sympathy up on the suffering of u, not only these 5yrs,since u lost ur dad and since lost ur aunt Rachel, since u lost ur daughter. We r getting strength from ur words.People celebrate Birthdays, marriage days, its great that u r celebrating ur 5yrs anniversary of injury. If the more suffering is making us more stronger, what else we need more than that? God gave us wonderful people in our life.Though u dont know who we r, we know all about u and we r always praying abt u and all Waorani.God bless all ur families and Waorani families. Our special love to Mincaye who is always smiling. we always see the great joy of salvation in him.
Amen thank you for the Update God Bless You all it really helped make me think and Be more thankful for what I have right now and to not take those things for granted. Also to really look forward to facing adversity and things like this. When Jesus said:In this world ye shall have trouble but take heart because I have overcome the World. Your story help me to look at the reality of life more in depth and challenges me to make the best I can out of it. All glory Be to God. Thank You and GOD bless you once again.. @ITEC
Thank you God for for letting me know about the five Missionaries who were speared for Your sake. Please God remind me to pray for Steve and his extended family members and also for all the people his sons are continuing to work for.
I am a spinal cord injury person. I live in excruciating suffering. I feel useless. I relate that all I have is my faith and God's enduring faithfulness and Lovingkindness. My wife and children are saints!
God helps you smile as you and Ginny deal with this situation which keeps you in a wheel chair. pray for churches in H valley pa area. we pray and ask God to help us encourage the pastors and missions vision. I am thinking a lot about the great omission you wrote about. we need our missionaries from our h valley pa churches to encourage those they reach for CHRIST world wide to train them in doing mission work. Your dad was born in 1923 steve, a long time ago. I go by your family homesstead in h valley pa from time to time and think about the SAINT family.
