For those harp players wondering what harp & key etc. this is played on, this is a C harp in "country tuning" (so 5 draw is F#). If you want to play it on a regular C diatonic you need to be able to play 5 overblow (and, of course, it won't in general have the same tone quality). You can also play it on a Lee Oskar Melody Maker in the key of G, using 3 blow instead of 3 draw whole step bent for the A note.
I've been trying to learn the overblow but I don't really get it...is it possible to "tune" my regular C diatonic to the "country tuning?"

@@peteryu8711 you can tune it, but I'd instead buy a country tuned harmonica instead (or a melody maker as I have) so I don't need to fuss with it and to keep that C standard Richter tuned harp for blues. To tune it, if you're so inclined, you'd need to raise the pitch by 1/2 tone on the 4 draw, which can be done with a sanding tool or similar, removing a bit of brass from the tip of the reed until its pitch is raised. Check out www.dummies.com/art-center/music/harmonica/how-to-tune-your-harmonica/ for more information on how to do it.
Thanks Man , a billion years i'm playing and i've never touched a "country tuning " of my life! I must change that ! For this one i'm sticking to the C diatonic , playing around the melody , overblowing the 9th hole is fine for me , accentuating the bluesy feeling (maybe too much) but not playing the exact melody , approaching very much,. About overblowing 5 i found the new generation "Blues Harp " too thick and the effect 's not frank but that's the only ones i've got , they 've been offered to me . Thanks again for your infos and Greetings from Corsica.
Manuel, thanks and thanks again for this essential information. I can get the melody with my country tuned C harp, but the bridge not so much. Any suggestions?
I bought a couple of CD's directly from Charlie when he headlined at the Harmonica Spah convention a couple of years ago--so he does have them. Try his website, perhaps? (He was just as amazing there as ever, btw.) :)
Charlie mcCoy's harmonica playing is beautiful. One of his best songs is: the way we were. Michael lothrop Stockton ca. I saw him at a SPAH convention in Kansas City, mi.
I saw Joe Pass perform classical guitar once. Kennedy Center. The next week i saw Roy Buchanan play. He was drunk. You know which show i enjoyed better. 😉
Wow! I was not aware that Robben Ford knew Charlie McCoy, even though I listen to Robben Ford much and this sure sounds like him! I met Charlie McCoy in 1976, been playing harmonica 45 years and was full-time pro at 20, partly with things I learned from playing with his recordings.
can any of you harp players tell at 1:53 at the end of the phrase, is he doing a super fast draw 4 -> blow 4, or is it a draw 4 -> draw 4 super bend (over half a step almost down a whole step to the 4th e.g. C)? It's hard to tell but I feel like the draw 4 -> draw 4 bend -> draw 3 half -> draw 2 is a fairly common blues harp lick (while on other instruments it would typically be 5b -> 4 -> 3b -> 1, instead of what it ends up being on harmonica, e.g. 5 -> 5b -> 3b -> 1).
man, I love it and I have been living in Atlanta for almost 12 years. Do you think I could use it as my background music for one video? is it copyrighted? can I use it? not for money purpose.
You would be looking for musicians who where recorded under the title Area Code 615. Nashville session men, went on to Barefoot Jerry. See Wayne Moss. Cinderella Sound in Nashville ( Pretty Woman ). Charlie McCoy was a big part of these bands. They also played on Dylan's Blonde on Blonde. These guys where cuttin' sounds back in the day. I still listen to there stuff regularly. They get you in the mood. Hot summer days in the backyard.
Zeige doch mal Bitte einen trade mit der KI. Das wäre doch sehr interessant. Ich jedenfalls würde mich sehr freuen. Liebe Grüße Gerster. Im voraus herzlichen Dank
@@landztranz Huh, I've never played a country tuned harmonica. That raises the 5B note a half step, doesn't it? When I play along with my regular C harmonica, I hear the same 5B note that my harmonica has. Sure it has to be country tuned?
Yea he was good, but Georgia ? Sorry man. I hear alot if this on you tube, master players Performing concertos. Sorry to be critical, but i exist in the realm of hard core blues. Only.

Charlie McCoy was one of the best harp players ever. I wish I could play "half" as well as him.
He's still alive. So he is still the best.

it sounds like a draw 4 into a full bend down to C but how the hell is he doing a full step bend on draw 4???
Bello
Excellent interpretation! Congrat's! Is key G ?
Yes
Country tuned C harp mate👍
@@benvanloo8431 Country tuned or regular diatonic, would the C harp not be played in second position, hence in key of G?
Moi aussi, mon ami.

Where do I find the tabs to learn to play this on the harmonica?
I have no idea about this :(
You’ll find it on Tomlinharmonicalessons.com
You'd learn a lot better just playing by ear, along with the video.
I put that song to Neven profile...
Da para tocar com a diatonica comum em C (Dó)?
its very nice but Im more of a Stevie Wonder harmonica fan, but daaaaayyum- as I listen whos on that guitar solo
Lloyd Green plays pedal steel. He is fantastic.Search Utube and you will agree. Grady
I wish I could... but no clues about it :(
Hi. I'd like to know if the armonica is in C or B or in.....?!?! Thank you in advance for everything :)

Eduardo Hernandez Cano It`s diatonic harmonica
Hohner special 20 key of C. Played in G. Second position.
@SunnySunKansas I do not own the rights of this song, so you can do what you want by my side ;)
What key is this in? C?
Anyone know where I can get just the background instrumentals? with out the harmonica? Id like to find them...

hey can you post tabs? well done
Just play it. Start at half speed if you need to. This isn't Orange Blossom Special (and you don't need tabs for that either).
Key G?
