"Hero of Helsreach!" The crowd cheers.
As if there is only one.
"Your, Love? Did you find her"?
"Yes... I did find her".
Armageddon is a crucial industrial world for the Imperium. The problem is that the planet (once known as Ullanor) is effectively the homeworld of the orks. They are not consciously aware of this, but they feel an inate calling to it.
Hard to know your own home when the toaster boys moved it.
@@liammurphy2036 Fancy meeting you here. 🤣
@@dcohen1359 we lurk in the same shadows Dan.
@@liammurphy2036 "toaster boys" is probably the funniest way iv heard as a reference to them ngl...
There’s also the little known fact that the Orks were not the only faction to invade Armageddon though information about the first war isn’t well known due to the fact that it was invaded by [REDACTED BY ORDER OF THE ORDO MALLEUS OF HIS MOST HOLY INQUISITION].
the art style slowly changes as the series progresses. it slowly gets sharpen and more defined slowly going from black and white to color, this represents the clarity of his memories as he recounts the tale, until the end when it goes back to the style at the beginning brining us full circle as the memories begin to fade.
Loved this book, the artist did more justice to the book than most professional movies.
👍
6:10 those are Servo-Skulls and you are right on the money. They are skulls of honored dead who’s service continue from beyond the grave.
They act as drones, assistants, weapons platforms, or even companions akin to familiars especially when the skull is of a friend
Yessss helsreach ive been lookin forward to u watching this, black templars r one of my favourite chapters 👌🏼
16:55 Commissar Sebastian Yarrick, he was one of the greatest human soldiers of the Imperium of man.
Yarrick was a normal human who killed an Ork Warboss this made the Orks fear and respect him but mostly fear him. The Orks gave Yarrick the name Old Bale Eye, Yarrack even took the Warbosses Power claw and attached it to replace the arm he lost when fighting the Warboss.
Yarrick also became the rival of the biggest and baddest Ork Warboss/Warlord of all time, the Beast of Armageddon Ghazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka.
awesome
@@ChicagoReacts even SPACE MARINES RESPECT OLE BAIL EYE 👁️
@@ChicagoReacts DO NOT DISRESPECT MY CHAPTER!!!!
@@ChicagoReacts The art style reflects the mentality of every member of the Black Templars
@@ChicagoReacts WE ARE THE BLACK TEMPLARS...... SON'S OF ROGAL DORN 7TH PRIMARCH OF THE IMPERIAL FIRST ✊
FOR HELSREEEEEEEEEACH!!!
Nice to see Ol' Bale Eye one last time (sheds single Orky tear)
Commissar Sebastian Yarrick is such a badass, that when he learnt about the Orks' rumour that he could kill with just a glance, he swiftly had his missing eye replaced with a bionic one, capable of firing a powerful laser beam.
Commisar Sebastian Yarrick, the old man, is the same chainsaw wielding Commisar dueling the orc and beating it and then holding the claw above his head.
He is a bad ass and scholar of the work mind.
there is PLENTY good warhammer content out there.
many great books... amazing lore channels... brilliant official, aswell as fan made audiobooks... masterpieces of fan made clips/videos/series/movies...
but this Helsreach "movie", i consider to be the single best warhammer 40k content out there.
the books writing is immersive and awesome, the audiobook is captivating and beautiful...
and Richard did both justice by visualizing it
The guy in the beginning and the end... That's Sebastian Yarrick, 57 years ago... If you couldn't tell.
I could tell it was the same dude, but I didn't catch his name
@@ChicagoReactsThe Orks genuinely love him, because he always gives The orks a good fight, they think of him, like some sort of legend almost because of it. They say he is a "Tough git". He is also a legend amongst the imperial guard of course. To the point that even Space marines have to respect his deeds.
I always love watching this series. I'm glad I get to see your reaction Lauren. Dont worry too much about the time line, it will be mostly constant from now on. I also got a bit stumped the first time watching this.
I love how she said "i wont remember there names". You will.
Watched this so many times, even on my tv, watched kit watching this, it's awesome you are now too love, hope you enjoy the full movie/episodes : D
I am excited to see where it goes!
The drones are often punishments for criminal acts. Killers become slaved to starship gunnery positions, etc.
Not always. Sometimes it's evil goveners punishing those and making them into these abominations. And sometimes they arnt wiped clean properly
@blubberfeet5430 ..my favorite book was the attempted assassination of Horus by the assassins guilds, the starship they had was awesome. Some soul had been integrated into it.. 👍
That's a servitor. Servo skulls are different. The skulls are of imperial heroes. There's also no brain in there unlike a servitor.
@@xxchaos315xx6 oo ty 👍
“Peace is a vain wish. Our crusade may one day adopt another name, but it will never truly end. In the far future, there will be only war.”
- during the Great Crusade- Sigismund,
First Captain of the Imperial Fists Legion and first High Marshal of the Black Templars.
You will love this series. I kid you not I cried at the ending
The flying skulls are a subset of servitor called servo skulls. Unlike other types of servitors, which are created from either criminals or vat-grown humans and that are seen as little more than tools, servo skulls are fashioned from skilled or respected individuals and they are akin to a personal drone assistant for simple tasks.
Most of the audio here is from the audiobook (though considerably abridged - the audiobook is considerably longer) - the animation was added to that existing audio.
My understanding of the choice of art style is that it is a representation of grimaldus' clarity of purpose.
Its starts off grainy and gradually changes as grimaldus begins to find place and purpose throughout the series.
The smack Helbrecht gives Grimaldus actually relates to old knighting rituals because back in the day they smacked you across the face which is far cooler than the stupid tap on the shoulder with a sword. It was the last blow you were supposed to take from someone superior to you and not answer back with your own (if you didn't that would be tantamount to losing face) because you were part of knightly brotherhood now, from the lowliest noble to the king himself who was really more a first among equals rather than the absolute monarchs we see later and think of today, (though to be honest they were not beyond dicking each other over or wiping their ass with the code of chivalry.)
Interesting info: The "Great Enemy" refers to orks. This is a reference to their number. The "Arch Enemy" refers to Chaos due to its existential threat to humanity. I've not read the book, but if Mordred was 'slain by the Arch Enemy' that means he met his demise at the hands of either a Chaos daemon, cultist or space marine.
“Let a wave of repugnance for the enemy wash over you. Let hatred fill you. Hate is good, for our goal is a Human galaxy. We are called by the Emperor with a sacred duty to conquer it in His name.”
- at the Sermon of Harnoth - Chaplain Grimaldus of the Black Templars, hero of Hive Helsreach. 🙏 FOR The EMPEROR!!!
i do a recommend of The Last Church animation, its a short story in around the year 28k or such, there is one last church and priest on earth and it gets a visit from a stranger
commissar yarrick is basicly the warhammer 40k version of doomguy to orks... man had his arm ripped off in a fight against an ork warboss, killed him, ripped his arm off and proceeded to use it as a prosthetic for his missing arm... which in turn, made other orks not only respect him, but be pretty friggin scared of him. the way he ended up dying still pisses me off as an ork fan ngl(yes we shroombois love yarrick too)...
edit: the legion in hellsreach is the black templars
When did he die?
Edit: nevermind, apparently he is reported dead, but there’s no proof.
@@saltifate I like the idea that he died in his sleep, not only because dying of old age is the most baller thing one can do in the 40k universe, but if the grim reaper had made his play while Yarrick was awake, his chances of success would have been drastically worse.
Hooo you will remember their names !
The voices are all by the same guy doing the audiobook, but Boylan got someone to redo the female ones. That said, there's a fair bit from the book that he skipped; I'd suggest listening to the audiobook when you're done with the animated version.
Khorne cares not from where the blood flows, but chaplains kill with holy purpose. The art style sharpens up when the war actually begins, which is quite telling. Servo skulls are like familiars, tech stuffed into the skulls of the deceased pious and faithful; this particular one seems to be filming everything. 'Chainsword' will do. Yarrick is the biggest badass of the entire imperial commissariat, and the orks practically worship him. As the millennium turns, there has been word of his death, but there are no details. Perhaps, if enough greenskins believe he's still alive, he'll come back?
I also really dig the black-and-white pencil filter for the firts few parts. Combined with the ominous presence of the skull drone, I always imagined that this is an uplifting propaganda movie for young novice space marines edited from the recordings of the skull drone. And it is already old. Archived hundreds of years ago, restored* again and again for the continued education of the worthy.
*And by restoration I mean that thousands of clercs redrawing them by hand, frame by frame, copy by copy. Why would you involve the Mechanicus for easy digital copying and distributing, running endless diplomatic circles around their customs, when you have millions of people for this kind of repetitive task?
Yes, more please.
to be fair the imperials deserve the losses for stealing the ork homeworld lol
Sebastian Fuckin Yarrick 🤩
Please, be sure to do parts 7-8 in one video. You will see why when you do.
As you progress through each video, you'll see the image quality change over time to a totally different style

Just a small tip, i mean no offense. You should be in the small square and the media should be behind you. I like the video
Pretty sure the timeline is linear/ concurrent going forward. So you should be fine.
