That is a lot of knife for the money. So much time it takes for that file work. The first one I have seen where he continued the file work onto the spine of the blade. Awesome work. Beautiful knife Paddy.
Quite the beautiful knife! You picked the perfect combination of a Lambsfoot blade handmade in Sheffield, England. That and a Barlow pattern would be 2 of the many hallmarks of Sheffield's long and important cutlery history. Thanks for sharing!
There is something special about a custom knife. I have one and I was into knives for along time before I bought one. I'm very happy for you and look forward to more videos on your new custom.
Wow!What a gorgeous knife. The file work even continues from the back spring onto the spine of the blade. It has an understated beauty with the wood choice. I would spend the time drinking the tea and staring at that knife! Enjoy!
Good for you Paddy. It is indeed a gorgeous knife. And right up my alley. A straight forward, dead honest no nonsense tool with some beautiful details!
It's so awesome that you're supporting your local knife makers. You dont hear very much about makers in the UK. That firework is so nice! When I used to make knives I could never pull that pattern off
Its a gorgeous example mate and its getting so hard to find any never mind good ones. So i will give him some exposure. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Atb paddy 👍😊☘️
Thank you for the awesome video of you getting your first Custom Knife I truly enjoyed it and I'm so happy that you were able to get a custom knife me just for you
Hi Paddy, Im the other jeff smith (UK). That is a fine knife!. About 10 years ago I bought a handmade Sheffield knife from A.Wright&Son (still going, worth a look). It was a high carbon sheeps-foot with stag. Blade took on a beautiful patina, in my pocket for 5 years and I lost it!. It was well worthy and on its way to being an heirloom piece. It still irks me that I lost It. But anyway Paddy good on ya for highlighting these great traditional Yorkshire craftsmen. I think this will be a great boost for these guys, a worldwide heads-up that you can buy and enjoy quality artisan/craftsman built knives in an F-ed up world that wants to label tools as "WEAPONS" atb Paddy, your doing good work. Im now gona buy that Olight for 38quid. Only 9hrs left.
Congratulations Paddy on your first custom knife :) looks beautiful use it wisely and may it bring you years of enjoyment you deserve it :) great vids as always thanks
That handle doesn't look comfortable but if you say it is I believe you after all you are the one holding it. That is really nice file work. I don't think I own a knife with filed back. He does beautiful work. Enjoy your new custom and I'll be waiting to see what you have to say in 3 weeks. Great blade also.
_Congratulations_ on a beautiful slippie! I saw this on his IG. Love the file work, and the way it continues on the blade once opened. It is similar to a gunstock shape, a bit more streamline. Classic British knife in every respect.
What's so cool is that he's using as basic a set of tools as possible, about the only thing modern is a motor driving the grinding belt. Worth every penny knowing the love that goes into them. True craftsmanship and honor to the art of knives.
@@paddyspotatopeelers2154 I am impressed , though I haven't held or used your new treasure just the price for something hand crafted from Sheffield is on its own impressive. Thanks Again
When I first saw this knife I was thinking that Paddy's really splashed out ,could not believe it's under £100 . good that there are still knife makers in Sheffield who make great knives ATB Dave
I’ve been watching Michael May for a while and it’s only that my wish list is a wee bit longer than my pockets are deep that has stopped me. The guy who sells me Taylor’s Eye Witness knives has been extolling his virtues for a while now. I’ll have one of his Barlows very soon, I hope. I was beginning to think I was alone in liking these knives so much.
It’s like Nick Shabazz says, “I like to cheer for the hone team”. Even my really rather poor Arthur Wright knives give me a lot of pleasure. I’m trying to collect a few Sodbusters at the moment which is drawing my attention, and I’m craving some GEC’s and more ADVs, oh and there are a few Taylor’s Eye Witness Blade’s with my name on.........
Thanks mate im really enjoying it so far. Sadly i think it would be to heavy for you. The pull is about 7 to 7.5.his finnishing is ver good. Atb paddy 👍😊☘️
Paddy, if you're in Norn Iron, and fancy getting a walk in the outdoors or woods sometime with a group of like minded knifey bushcraft people just get in touch.
Love that knife, it looks like a proper working knife but a work of art too. The blade is a bit too chunky to be a lambs foot, more a sheeps foot which just happens to be my favourite worker. I'm interested, I hope a lot of others are too, quality at that price deserves to be better known.
@@davidpyper82 As I understand it yes a Lambsfoot is just a bit slimmer, a broad sheepsfoot can also be called a coping blade like the sheepsfoot blades on a traditional stockman or the old US Coastguard rope knives.
It is a beauty, for a 100 pounds it is a steal if anyone can afford it and know enough to know the value. Woodies is another nice touch. Enjoy yourself. Piggy.
Where's the love from those of us across the schock? Your knife maker/master took particular care to choose a piece of, I believe white oak to select a piece with the horizontal lines being referred to as "Flame", it is a coveted cut of wood prefered by furniture makers and solid body guitar makers, bottom line he put a lot of thought and effort that only a custom knife maker can, That's a crackin sweet knife Paddy and I hope this video bring some business his way.
