Great video dude... just finished rebuilding the top end on an 09. Thanks for editing out all the non-critical pieces of vid and keeping the good stuff in.

No mention about shimming the valve clearances, very important on this model. If that head came set up perfectly, that's worthy of mention, because normally they won't.

2010 and 2011 crf250r blowing up fast because when you push the stop button the fuel injection still give fuel to the engine and then it thin the oil. Change oil every 1-2 hours!

Hi, did you have to remove the left side crank case to remove the cam chain guide? I have a 2010 crf250 and im about the do the top end

Nice video. Did the bike already have a new crank in it when you got it? Im thinking about replacing my crank and just wondering if its a nessesity when i replace the piston. Its a 2012 crf250r with 100 hours. Runs great now but i want to make sure it stays that way.

    • @Makswerks1

I did not. Generally if the crank bearings feel right I dont tear stuff apart. Of course when you are flipping bikes vs. something you bought to keep long term the priorities are a little different.

Ok thanks for the reply. I havent ever replaced a crank in any 2 strokes and havent ever had a problem with them but ive heard for some reason 4 strokes cranks dont last as long. Ill probably just buy the full kit though. Thanks.

Hey, Maks. Just out of curiosity, how much (ball-park) did it end up costing for the replacement head? Did it leave you with enough profitability to justify all the labor you did?
    Thanks!
    Mike

Nice thing about dirt bikes is that they come apart quick and go together quick. So not much labor involved especially if you have done a few.
      used jug - $75
      used head - $328
      gaskets - $70
      Piston - $135
Plus i got some extra parts i will sell. My guess is when all is said and done I will have around $850 in the bike. So to me its worth it.

Head bolts on these bikes don’t have to be replaced they aren’t torque to yield. Now when it comes to honing the cylinders, it’s debatable on these in specific. All the race bikes have nikasyl bores which is super super thin. You shouldn’t Hone them just clean them really really well

What website did you find a bike that looks that nice for only $350?

    • @Makswerks1

I get almost all my bikes via private sale. Like craigslist.

Ive never seen one that cheap even blown up
      I wish
Even blown up they are always over $1000 around here .
Also i have a question i want to buy a used 250f but im on a tight budget
How important is it to get a fuel injection bike?
Im thinking i want fuel injection for easy starting but how , much of a performance difference is there ?
And if you could get a really good price would you consider a bike that didnt have fuel injection?

Tarz Thomas believe me, I just got a fuel injected 250 and they are so much more better than a carburetor 250. Carburetors are so much work to get jetting right. Spend the extra money for convenience and better starting you won’t regret it
