    Thanks for the extensive and interesting review mate - liked and subbed.
    I remember talking to a company on the SimRacing Expo that wanted my opinion on them expanding their brand with (yet another) wheel. I told them to rather make a DD base, as the market was too high priced and the competition scarce.
    Which is what simagic have gone and done. Good for them.

    This looks awesome! On the fly adjustments, 10 Nm which is very powerful (trust me, a direct drive wheel at 7 Nm feels way more powerful, quicker, and fidelic than a "regular" wheel like a Fanatec CSW v2 at the same 7 Nm), stepper motor where you can't feel the steps and is smooth as silk, servo / stepper motor reliability, very strong construction, quick release. At $600, this is almost TOO good! This wheel is awesome for people who aren't crazy into simracing but, when they do play, want high levels of power or those who want an awesome, fidelic, powerful wheel but don't need the power nor want to spend the crazy money on something like a Simucube or Fanatec Podium DD. At $600, these should sell like crazy!

      Hey old man from over the seas :) I love your comments :) It's a shame for sure and they really want to because the pricing really appeals to console users. Honestly, it all depends on sales in the PC market i think. If they can capture a portion of PC, they'll definitely want to move to console.

    I think if people are looking for the best value budget option on the market at the moment they would be better off going with Sim-plicity, (excluding tax and shipping) the SW20 20Nm wheelbase can be ordered for £514.99, the SW25 25Nm can be ordered for £549.99 and the SW30 30 Nm can be ordered for £649.99.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад

      It just doesn’t seem as accessible as this and the wheel rim sold me on it. Sure, nm is nice to have. But it’s a bit like horsepower. It’s great for a conversation in a bar. Not saying 10nm is perfect but lots of people with 20+ nm wheels run them at 25%.

    • @theauthenticsteve
      @theauthenticsteve 4 года назад +2

      @@LaurenceDusoswa Well there is also the Simplicity SW8C+ for only £399.99 and the SW13C+ for only £499.99. And Simplicity customers so far seem to be very happy. And he lives near you so at least in your case I'm not sure how a wheel from China can be considered more accessible than a wheel based in London. I don't consider those I just mentioned great value options compared to the ones I mentioned earlier but the point is you are getting a product cheaper from a small guy who lives near you compared to a product from China that really should be cheaper than it is. To put it in perspective, this 10Nm wheel will cost me over $1800 in Australia by the time it gets to my door with the wheel while the SW20 will cost me $1283 delivered to my door and sure the wheel is not included with the SW20 but I already know where I can get a wheel I really like for less than the difference. If I just want the cheapest (new) DD on the market I could get the SW8C+ for only $979 delivered to my door but I'd rather pay $300 more for a much better wheel. I personally would never run a 20Nm DD wheel at 25%, I would be likely to run a 20Nm wheel at 100% with in sim settings that would provide 8-12Nm of force under normal conditions and this would allow room for spikes so valuable information isn't being lost. If I owned a 10Nm wheel I'd be forced to run the wheel at 8Nm of force during normal driving to keep some headroom for spikes. I feel like 12Nm is about the minimum force a good wheel needs while 15-20 would be much better.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад +1

      I’ll research the simplicity unit again. It just didn’t seem as complete as the simagic. The rim alone is worth a couple of hundred euro.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад +1

      I just had another look at the simplicity site. It feels very much like I’m buying a part for my washing machine, not a consumer product. It’s just not a pleasant looking device and although it may be technically capable, it doesn’t appeal to me as a consumer. Hope that makes sense.

    • @theauthenticsteve
      @theauthenticsteve 4 года назад +2

      @@LaurenceDusoswa Yeah it kind of makes sense but not really. Simplicity sell a box controller and motor system like Bodnar, Accuforce, Ionicube or SC1 systems. The Mige motors are an attractive motor and the control box although large is a good looking control box. After Accuforce I personally think the Simplicity package is the best looking on the market for this kind. If aesthetics is your only priority then the Chinese AIO product is the better product. But Ollie was one of if not the first on the market building and selling complete DD systems. His products are built using a tested and proven design. And considering he has sold complete packages in the past I'm sure if he was asked he could either hook the buyer up with a wheel or point them to the best option to fit their needs. What you are getting with Simplicity is the most affordable DD system on the market using proven components, his new package with warranty is selling for less than some people are selling their second hand SC1's. And there is no way a small builder outside of China could sell a Mige based system for less. It is better in every way than the Chinese 10Nm offering shown here except for aesthetics and the AIO compactness. All I'm pointing out is what I said in the OP, if people want the best value DD option on the market right now, they should look at Simplicity. Personally I'm a bit disappointed at the price of this Chinese offering. It could and should be lower.

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад +1

      Thanks for the great feedback. What i would do if i were you:
      1. look into options to keep your fanatec rims. so, usb conversion and QR adapter for simagic. You would have to do this to every rim though, which will get costly.
      2. give the simagic a few weeks, and then decide what to do. Bear in mind that your fanatec products will always have second hand value, which could definitely free up funds towards the Simagic or even a fancy custom rim or cubecontrols or rosso sim racing wheel.
      It's a potentially big move for people who are very loyal to great brands like fanatec or thrustmaster which have a good rim ecosystem.
      It's also worth noting, that Simagic are going to release a glorious looking GT4 (formula style) rim which is worth keeping an eye out for! I can't wait to get my hands on one.

      @@LaurenceDusoswa Thatxs why the Fanatec PS4 podium F1 DD1 wheel is really the only viable option for someone like me and still have a future In PC expansion. I think even though there's a big price difference they are still competitive price points given the offered rims and the difference in specs. I think the heavier wheel of the Chinese product will mute the definition of the DD albeit however slightly. The real game changer on the Chinese product is the absolute positive lock of the Chinese hub. Fanatec could learn something here.

      @@LaurenceDusoswa I suppose that's how it goes with a lot of products. Europe and the US pioneer the ideas/tech and then China mass produces it cheaply. There's no reason a DD base alone should cost getting a grand once we get into mass market; its just an electric motor with a PC input encoder.

    • @Tintop
      @Tintop 4 года назад +11

      Please tell me about how Simagic is cheaper... Simagic 10Nm stepper motor 699$ vs Simucube (2) Pro 25Nm custom servo motor (made in Austria) 1200$. And the "Alpha" base by Simagic: 15Nm for 1200$ (example: encoder resolution --> M10 = 16,385 ppr ... Alpha = 262,144 ppr ... SC1 and SC2 = 1,050,000 ppr....). The Simucube 2 Sport has 17Nm and is 1029$.
      sorry Simagic is not cheaper than the competition.
      Simagic has also to prove the reliability and quality of their products. Simucube 1 and 2 have no recorded failures or malfunctions since release. Fanatec DD1 & 2 already have reports of malfunctions and blown up power supplys.
      I would never buy a DD base with less than 20Nm torque, but that's a personal thing. 10Nm is good for GT3 and TCR cars but you have to run it at 80% to 90% power. Not really much headroom for spikes and I can assure you that it will get hot, which again is not healthy for the magnets in the motor over longer periods.
      So, prices from Granite Devices are already very sensible looking at build quality, software (FFB quality) and reliability. Again, Simagic is not cheaper, it's even more expensive when looking at their "Alpha" base.

    •  4 года назад

      @@Tintop Well the heat and performance remains to be seen, although reviews seem to be very positive. It seems clear that there will be a whole lot of mid-range sim racers out there for whom this will be a very satisfactory upgrade from their G29s.

    If they can deliver a reliable, durable and robust system for less than a Fanatec CSW2.5 then it's really a no-brainer.
    Fanatec CSW is belt driven (yes yes, brush-less motor which supplies power to rubber belt/pulleys) and will die much faster than any DD motor.
    Unless Simagic turns out to be a cheaply made 'turkey' there's no contest with any belt driven wheel and should result in the death of belt driven wheels over $500.

      There’s no relationship. Just that many people who buy this will be coming from a Logitech steering wheel. There’s no association between the two companies.

      Yes definitely. Although check out boosted media’s review because he says it’s not better in some ways. I think it’s a lot better and with time, people will come out with even better settings for the M10.

    Hey Lawrence how does it feel with project cars 2....I'm interested in getting it..they have a alpha version too...how does it compare to the m10..?

    • @LaurenceDusoswa
      @LaurenceDusoswa  4 года назад

      Hey Audy! The alpha is more powerful and there's no worldwide release date planned for it yet. They're quite different products, and I haven't gotten a chance to test the Alpha yet.
      To answer your original question: it feels great! I love PC2 and this wheel gave me good reason to spend some time with it :) I did the majority of my testing in AC as i know it inside out. For PC2 you need to set it up as a 'custom' input device as it wont be on the preset list. and you need to select 'separate pedals' and map stuff individually before you can get going. there's a little video on setup here but it only takes a minute and is easy enough to figure out: ruclips.net/video/tx8CvjcVURc/видео.html
