I actually managed to do this with two separate image planes; one for the eyes, and the other for the mouth, so that I could have even more variety of expressions without having to make like 50 images lmao Thank you so much for this, it was fun to learn.
You can also just use squares and rotate, scale and transform them using vector maths, combine those directly in the material and use drivers to connect the bones position, rotation and scale to the material, which results in a way more dynamic and satisfying 2d face
There's a faster way to connect the face plane with the head: In edit mode, if you select the four vertices of the side of the cube you want to attach the face to, then hit Ctrl + G to add them to a new vertex group, you can then give the face plane a Copy Transforms object constraint, selecting the object to connect it to, and then the vertex group you just created. It keeps the plane connected no matter how you move the character, and can be applied to any vertex group anywhere on your model! I'm not familiar with Minecraft animations, but I assume this and other object constraints could be useful in a lot of ways, so I hope I could help out.
Well brother, I was struggling for days to know how to switch face textures like that. I've seen tutorials dealing with multiple nodes in the Shader Editor, which was a bit too complicated for a beginner like me. But tonight, I've found the easiest and perfect tutorial
And if you don't want to get in and out of object mode all the time you can select your armature go to pose mode/ctrl tab. And then go to edit and disable lock objects and now if you select your face it will automatically switch to object mode and vice-versa with the armature.
THANK YOU SO MUCH!! This tutorial has helped me a lot, although I have only one problem and that is that I do not see that option of Ray Visibility, I do not speak English and the translation of YT did not help me much. I would appreciate a response from you!
Hi! there are 2 possible reasons for this, 1. you're in pose mode, 2. you're in the Eevee Render Engine, I believe this is because Image Textures don't cast shadows on Eevee anyway.
good tutorial, however I would recommend to make the face rig in the actual skin material, that way you don't have a plane floating in front of the face which could potentially cause problems
there is a problem everytime i select all faces, after i select image sequence the offset set to -1, if i change to 0 the face become purple, any help?
When i make the Image sequence when i change the offset higher the image goes purple and just so you know i have 7 images what should i do do you think?
@@tobypiggy123 this usually happens when the image sequences have different names, did you make sure all the images have the same name? numbers should be the only way you can differentiate the images for an image sequence, for example "Face1.png and Face2.png" is fine, while "Sadface.png & Happyface.png" wouldn't work

wdym by full textures? do u mean the texture of the model itself? cuz If so then yes, it does work for materials, one of the cause for textures going purple is forgetting to tick the "Auto Refresh", and also make sure you set "Frames" to "1" so you can just edit the frames on the "offset" setting.
