You picked right up on it. This is a tribute song to "Aces High" These girls are so humble. They always give credit to Iron Maiden, Metallica, Priest etc., but honestly, they have surpassed all those bands in sheer virtuosity. Just play "Aces High" back to back with "The Crusade" and you realize, it's like a six-shooter vs. phasers. The girls are faster, heavier, more melodic, much more precise---and when you compare the drummers, it's no contest. No diss on the old bands--I'm a fan--but just as medical science and aeronautics progress, so does music.

yep ! agree with your opinion that they're not female dragonforce....they are different...dragonforce is just one of their influences
when i heard all their songs, i found there's so many different music and sound style on their music...these ladies play power metal, thrash metal, heavy metal...even ballads ! and all that their songs is sooooo freakin' awesome...and use english lyrics (based on that they are japanese)....sheeeesh ! outstanding ladies ! horns up for Lovebites \m/
as metal hammer golden gods award winner as best new metal band (2018), (with all due respect) i guess that's enough said that they are the best above all other female band.

LOVEBITES has taken the genres of metal we love and reinvented them as their own single, badass genre. I listen to these ladies every single day, and I can't get enough even after hearing every one of their songs 100+ times each. The more I hear them, the more I appreciate them!

I just started listening to them with headphones (Sennheiser HD424). Wow, the detail in what they are doing is phenomenal. An even greater appreciation for haruna's fills and midori's relentless riffing throughout, and miho's bass foundation more distinct.
I do have a formidable sound system, 75w/ch into Cerwin Vega V-35s (18" woofers, medias.audiofanzine.com/images/normal/cerwin-vega-v-35-77770.jpg ) in a 12'x16' room, makes the headphone/speaker combo awesome. Clarity and I can FEEL every note and beat! (I fixed the image link)

@Aratha Sena Those look real nice and have a microphone and no wires... I'm still kinda 'stuck' (by choice) in a more primitive world in many respects... The Sennheiser are from the '70s, the Cerwin Vegas are from the '80s, STA-2000 amp from late 70s. I just listened to LOVEBITES 5ofaKind sndtrk in an uncommon setting and format: My 1994 (230,000 mile) Nissan Sentra on the factory-cassette-tape-player from a tape I just made on a late 80s Technics RS-T20 dual cassette deck. Now I want new speakers in the car and I'm considering taking a trip, somewhere... ANYwhere !!

Thank you for another Lovebites, reaction. It will do Lovebites, the power of good when they can tour again. Since the gig in Tokyo at the beginning of the year, unless I am mistaken, they have not played anywhere. I know this is true of many bands due to Covid. We can only hope that RUclips, will keep making new fans for them.

There is a live version of Scream for me from my bro Aratha Sena. Its from Daughters of the Dawn 2019. You should react to that next to see the shredding madness from Midori & Miyako, its really insane. And its gonna blow your mind dude. I keep repeating that these girls are best metal band in the world right now, nobody cant say its not true. If someone dont think like that, he or she is not right, its just like that. Keep reacting to this band, they deserve it definitely...

I agree. Saw that this weekend. The battle these 2 perform is long and fierce. I recommend that song. Im 56 and went to alot metal concerts in the early 80's. Priest, maiden, dio, scorps. These girls have turned the clock back and brought great music to the front again. Metal in US is nowhere to be seen anymore. Love this band

All the heavy metal that I have been listening to and that I enjoy since I was a kid, is there, in Lovebites, they put it all together, and that combination makes them unique \m/
What you say about Dragonforce, is something that bothers me too. It's the first, and the easiest and simplest, that many people say. Those people should listen to more metal to know that there are decades of music before Dragonforce, and Lovebites is not just a japanese power metal band, 40 songs prove it

  • @jmetallover

They are on Fire....duh well you started the video!!! This band is so insane and so talented they are truly in a league of their own. I am so impressed with Asami as her vocals have gotten so much better and she has become a real front women for this band controlling the crowd while on stage. They sing these song in English which is all phonetically learned as it is not their native tongue!!!! Their riff battles are already legendary but it is their harmonizing with complicated chords at breakneck speeds done flawlessly that is truly impressive when you consider they have only been together for 3+ years. Great reaction to a great band and the video was likewise nice (seeing them off stage is always a blast). Thanks for my daily "FIX" of Lovebites (LOL). These ladies are another AC/DC in that they put on epic shows no matter what they do.

What I vaguely recall, it was the last song written for EP, she brought the music demo, it was chosen as first track even before lyrics were written, since Miho is such a big Maiden fan (and it’s so clearly Aces Iron High Maiden style 😉)
-and Then I see Rocky said as much in the fun facts... 👍
Unfortunately the subtitled version was taken off youTub, but their (dvd extra?) vid explaining their gear is still worth a watch, lots of labels, and lots of English cues if you listen carefully. So you can spend some time in their studio with them 💃🏻🎸😎

I'm starting to think a lot of people don't "get" Lovebites, and I wonder, and this sounds ridiculous, if it's because they're too good? I mean, other, more gimmicky bands like Babymetal and Band Maid are way more popular but, with nothing against those bands who are both good, Lovebites blow them and pretty much every other metal band away in terms of technical ability and songwriting ability, as far as I'm concerned (personal opinion). I also would expect that the fact they sing in English would make them more accessible, but it seems not to be the case. Oh well, those who are enlightened, know. Music videos... there aren't many more, but you MUST watch the video for Rising next, as it's phenomenal (ruclips.net/video/B70JsOpmUGE/видео.html). After that, there's their most recent video, Golden Destination (ruclips.net/video/Hiv45KdDVno/видео.html) and then their very first video, Don't Bite The Dust (ruclips.net/video/Gq-JZ6deYwM/видео.html), which "suffers" the same fate as the Shadowmaker video. They should keep you going for now, but there's more live stuff to get to, too!

You seem to forget something. Band-Maid is hard rock, a genre that appeals to more people. Lovebites is power metal which is a bit more of a niche genre; not everyone likes it. Trying to compare them is like trying to compare Janis Joplin with Deep Purple; both great, but totally different types of music.

    • @glenkelley6799

For me personally, I really like all three bands for different reasons, each one excels in the realm they have chosen and I listen to all three daily depending on my mood. I will say that Asami probably has the strongest vocals and widest range of the three groups, but again each singer in their band is perfectly suited to that band. If you consider Unlucky Morpheus, then I'd say that Fuki probably has the best voice (again, my personal opinion). Gimmick in my mind is really not an issue as long as the music is great, a lot of great band have something that is unique to it and could be loosely considered a "gimmick". For example early on Lovebites was described as five bridesmaids and Rammstein has fireworks.

You have stepped into the rabbit hole Mr Harder. There is more to hear. Its great to get new music to listened to from my younger days (judas priest, iron maiden, dio etc...). These ladies are kick ass all the way. Marys blood with saki as guitar is another one to listen to. Less power metal with single lead guitar. Saki is a guitar goddess in japan. Marysblood songs to listen to live sets Marrionete, karma, colony, etc... they have been around longer than lovebites so their library is larger. Bandmaid, bridear, aldious. You have to check out Asterism in texas or LA. Hal-Ca is her name. She is only 17! No singer but just kills it with instrumentals. Music in US is not on the level anymore. I miss this style of music

I was watching a Q&A the other day with Midori and Asami (they speak good English, though they both claim they don't). One of the questions asked was will there be a new album by the end of the year. They wouldn't say yes and they wouldn't say no. I know Band-Maid officially announced they will have a new song released in December and an album in January; wouldn't it be awesome to have a double header?

Not being a metal fan, I might not love Lovebites, but I can appreciate why metal fans would really like them. But anyway, another Japanese female band you might like, despite them sounding nothing like Lovebites, are The Let's Go's. They play fun, frenetic, fast-paced 70s style classic punk, where their sound has the soul of the era, but without the anger, spiked hair and safety pins. Definite hints of the Ramones in a lot of their stuff, albeit if The Ramones were three women from Tokyo. This is their recent video "Feel Like It" ruclips.net/video/Za98RjpKnK8/видео.html Enjoy!
