Everybody dies, but not Everybody gets to go out in style. I respect his decision to not use the brakes.
😄You know he heard the words "red, emergency braking zone" during the safety briefing and just felt the ethereal buzz of freedom pulling him to the other side in style. Happy sledding.

ah so the death of a person is a laughing matter for you

But they had breaks.
i love how he looks so calm as hes about to meet his impending doom
😂😂😂😂😂 Some people accept death a lot easier than others.
He's lived a good life already so what more is there to fear.
he knows he ain't gonna live forever anyways
"Finally I get to die!"
I think he even cracked a smile lmao
RIP gramps. You will be remembered by far more people than you ever imagined.
Lmao
Wait did he actually die?
@@Unknown-vv1td yeah, he broke his neck on the fall
@@Unknown-vv1td no
@@iSuckAtGamesGG i thought of him hitting he's back ;-;
I'll give grandpops 10/10 for that. Calm, acrobatic, style, competitive and finishing strong at the very end.
Personally, i really appreciated his dedication to form. No show boating 👏🏼
Other than the fact that he died yeah 👍
Unfortunately, we couldn’t see if he stuck the landing… fraction of a point deduction: 9.9/10
grandpa waiting on that moment for half-quarter of century
No way grandpa's 12.5
@@jerinmathew4726 Didn't mention he waited his whole life tho
Half quarter of a century? Lol that's not too long. Think you meant half a century
So 12.5 years? That’s an odd timeframe.
G-Pa is lookin like he’s rollin’ about ...hmm...5/8 century...
And gramps brake handle he’s rippin’ on, needs a new set of pads!..
But damn that looks like a Blast!
the camera pans away before you see grandpa perfectly land on his feet and put on a pair of shades
THEY FORGOT THE GIOVANNI GEORGIO MUSIC LOL
so frustrating that camera dude fails
A second, bigger and cooler pair of shades
Camera had only one job, one job 😡
And a brewski.
I once took a trip to Germany with some friends and we went to a park with Alpine slides one day. One of my friends had the same "All Balls No Brakes" philosophy and ended up flying up and off the side of a sharp bend and rolling and flailing the rest of the way down the hill. Somehow he made it to the bottom without a broken bone. Goddamn legend
No brakes and tucking forward got me ejected from an alpine slide.
I've been on this very set of slides... Years ago. Glad to see they are still there and haven't been taken out because of derp factor.
I would have been like...
"That's gonna hurt in the morning.
I like to think he took the brakes off, handed them to the employee, and took off making eye contact. Godspeed grandpa
With two fingers pointing in his eyes, and pointing them back at the employee as his jaw gapped open and he took his hat off and placed it on his heart.
🤣🤪
"No breaks?! Well way to commit soldier..."
HE LOOKED AT ME
🤣

For the grand kids...
This reminded me of my own grandpa. He was an Army vet, but looks were deceiving as he looked so small and frail, but was hardy and sturdy as an ox. I remembered as a young man helping him during summer vacation on his farm, tending to animals and lots of physical labor (hauling wood, fixing fences, cutting down trees etc.) And one thing about him is that he is a thrill-seeker.
We went as a family on a beachside resort, and one of the things we rode was something called 'The Tornado' - a large floatie in the shape of a top pulled by a jet ski on the water. It also had chairs in the middle for us to sit in it. When the boat turns, 'The Tornado' started spinning like a top. Gramps was the first one to board it. During the ride, Gramps let go of his handle, his arms high in the air. And he got ejected; I recalled seeing him launched almost 15 feet in the air and 30 feet away from us before splashing down on the sea. While our family worried about him, I knew from first-hand experience how hardy and sturdy Gramps is. He emerged out of the water, a large grin on his face and bellowed out loud with laughter. He enjoyed the rush so much that he did it several times while we rode 'The Tornado' that day. He enjoyed it so much he tipped the young man driving the jet ski $200 for the thrilling experience and grabbed a beer afterwards.
I recall this experience while watching this. Gramps passed on early June of this year. Rest in peace, Gramps. May you and Granny have fun adventures in the afterlife.
When grandpa yelled, "Witness me!" as the sled took off, the ride crew knew they were about to see a legend born.
Ride eternal, shiny and chrome, grandpa!
He lives, he dies, he lives again!
😂🤣😂
MEDIOCRE
Perfect..response
Witness me!
I really hope he was okay.
Us young people often don't appreciate how resilient our bodies are. We can take a big hit to the back and not feel it. But the older you get, the more you feel it.
As George Bernard Shaw said "Youth is wasted on the young."
And it takes a lot longer to heal.
I'm 28 and my back literally hurt watching this. I guess I took all my beatings at a young age so I feel old already
That is a fact.
The things I did as a teenager.. in my 20s… and even 30s…
Mid 50s now and I think before I do things because tmrw is still coming and I don’t want to have to OD on Ibuprofen.
Hip surgery, rehab a cane...its all good. He lives in infamy

No, he said, "every man dies, not every man truly lives." Women were not permitted to truly live in those days.

"We didn't have brakes in Normandy, we sure as hell don't need brakes here!"
😂😂😂
You're joking but there's a 37% chance he said that
I'd say he's a bit young to have been at Normandy..Still funny though.
Probably had some breaks after
It's more like no brakes in 'Nam.
I love how his hat decides to go into hyperspace at the last instant.
This comment killed me 🤣🤣🤣
That hat went off like a gunshot.
His hat was saving itself
Hahaha Hats like right bro I'm off mate
Hat hit Warp 9.9 lmao
Imagine how disappointed he must be that the person holding the camera couldn't stay on point...
There’s always someone not able to film the history in the making…
Oh wow lol
They were literally rolling
@@raezor82 But they didn’t catch the landing. Which sucks because now no one believes how he pulled a triple flip and stuck the landing without spilling a drop of the shot he was carrying with him
@@edeasley144 tbf I think him telling the story whilst confined to a wheelchair has more to do with them not believing him than the lack of footage.
At his age, he is wise enough t know exactly what was going to happen, how it was going to feel and the long term effects before he even crashed. Thats why he had perfect form 😂
Bruises heal, scars are cool, legacy is forever
Not wise enough to fn pay attention when he was being taught how to use the brakes apparently.
How the fuck do u know that? The kids could have spiked his prune juice w molly and convinced him he was going down a little kids slide

9/10 for the dismount. 1 point deduction for not sticking the landing.
But seriously, I hope he was okay.
He might have, but we can't see if he finished on his feet. I think he could have.
But he lost his hat so that might be another point deduction 🤣
The old guy died
@@plezmybob prove it
An orbital cannon struck him at the exact moment the camera person turned away. He did not survive. RIP
Props to the engineer of that sled. If you watch the dismount, he clears everything. That brake handle could have wrecked him at that speed.
Originally it was designed as a new Olympic sport. Like the running relay where a baton is exchanged, this was conceived so that when one sled rider came to the end of the track, their hat would be automatically switched to the next rider (just off-camera). In this test, the hat transfer was perfect, but it highlighted some safety issues. Tried at the 1980 and '84 Games, it was then dropped for BMX'ing.
@@thesunreport bruh 😆
No props to the guy that designed the end cushion that absorbed no impact.
@@xylexut2589 for real
That plastic (hopefully not concrete!) raised part at the end looked perfect for breaking someone's back. Hope the guy was ok...
If you pause at the right Moment, you can see a slight smile on his face. This legend enjoyed every second of this
If you pause at 0:08, you'll see how calmly this guy was ready to just plow into that bumper. What a legend. But in all seriousness, hope he's ok that was rough.
those sunglasses and that colonel sanders mustache😎
If the pad was a bit longer then I would say totally fine but his back was heading for the end hard plastic bit.....and as someone who has passed 40.....the back becomes something that can be in pain by just moving slightly wrong.
He was killed instantly

I've watched this 8 times now and am blown away by grandpa's dismount form!
🔥Legendary 🔥
He knew it was his last chance for a last impression.
As a young grandpa I felt that.
Gave grandpa WWII airforce veteran flashbacks. They even simulated the feeling if having your plane blown off randomly and now your flying in the air.

Classic, hits the accelerator when he thinks he is hitting the brake. My grandma did that through the garage.
That was my thought exactly.
Could have been pushing on that lever rather than pulling back.
My grandma did it through the front of a McDonald's.
How the helmet quit just before impact left me speechless about humanity.
I'm sure his back landed right on the concrete barrier. Shitty camera work, keep it together and follow through.
yep the very most that happen to him would be a broken back
No he's fine
I'm thinking the same. Trash camera work!
Chill out. Maybe it was a relative filming. Would you film your grandpa get hurt?

Moment. To be honest, the helmet flying was gorgeous!!
Helmet? Shit, I thought it was a turban.
Holy crap..I watched it over and over and haven’t laughed that hard in a decade.
Me too...I'm not sure if I should feel bad about that...🙄😅😅😅😅😅
This made me laugh harder than it should've.
Grandpa knows how to have fun.
PLAYED IT OVER A DOZEN TIMES AND WILL PLAY IT A DOZEN MORE, GOOD THING HE WAS SOMEWHAT RELAXED 😌
I did this same slide and thought I was going to die (I was little). This grandpa has balls of steel.
Yeah but he left them halfway down the hill.
I’ve ridden this exact slide probably over a hundred times over the course of 15 ish years. The one grandpa went down was the fast slide with harsher turns and bumpy hills. The other two were identical meant for beginners. My grandparents rode it as well, many times. Luckily my grandma never got injured but my grandpa did end up with a few scrapes- nothing terrible. Matter of fact, my grandma rode it so many times the employees started to recognize her year after year 😂. I wouldn’t recommend going to this place anymore however, it is now owned by a different company (or was rebranded I’m not sure) and is WAY too busy to be worth the $$. Plus if it rains, (honestly WHEN not if) no refunds…
I played it at 0.25x speed. His cap is like: “I’m outta here…”😂
I love the fact he’s wearing a helmet for safety reasons, but then before he lands from his incredibly sick front flip it gets yeeted into space
That's not a helmet. The kid isn't even wearing a helmet. It's a backwards ball cap which just adds to the epic factor.
The way he looked so concentrated
his lower back totally was set to hit the edge. you know he is still feeling this to this day
grandpa coming in hot
Just so you all know; the way his hat flys out of shot in 0.25 speed is most pleasing.
I guess nobody explained to him how the brakes worked 😂😂😂
i love how everyone is just laughing as it happens
IT'S BECAUSE GRAND-PA HAS A HALF MILLION-DOLLARS IN LIFE-INSURANCE.. NEXT, THEY'LL TAKE HIM ON A BOAT TRIP WITH 8 PEOPLE ON BOARD.. AND THAN RETURN WITH ONLY 7.. (GO FIGURE)🤷🏽

Legend has it he's still airborne
Man hope hes alright, old people cant always handle blows like that
Legend has it his hat is still traveling through space to this DAY!!
That was so hilarious. I hope Grandpa came out okay.
he straight up front flipped like a pro
It turns out Grandpa had money on the winner,
After a poor start, all eyes were on the finish.
Grandpa, coming in hot 🙆♂️
His hat flying off absolutely killed me.....
"I paid good money for that hat!"....
Lmao....
Look kids grandpa can fly!
I've seen a horsefly, ... a housefly, ... a butterfly and a dragonfly, but that's the first grandpa I've seen fly!!! Godspeed grandpa!!
I went on one of these when I was around 8 yrs old or so… I had no clue how to work it and ended up taking a turn too fast, rolled over and took the skin off both arms and legs. I still have small pieces of gravel in my hands.. And yes the cart kept going and I had to walk down the rest of the way bleeding. You can imagine the horror in my mothers face as I came into view…. 😳
dude these comments (and video) make me question how alpine slides are legal in the first place.. like this grandpa may or may not died to a broken neck, a dude derailed and tumbled down a mountain, you ripped off your skin- wtf
WHAT AN EXIT OFF THE SLED.
SITTING FRONT SOMERSAULT INTO A HAND STAND....LEGENDARY PERFORMANCE!
And that was the last time gramps rode the slide! 😂
as someone whos been there and done that, hes a legend, because even the crew will call you a chicken for using them brakes
