    In Texas, farmers always run duels on 30" centers. I had no clue why you would not also as I have not seen your 8235R tire spacing here in the last 30-40 years. We run on the stalks to plant on uncompacted area. The tires are protected by stalk stompers in front.

    Talking about the 82 cold starting, have you thought of putting a proheat/espar heater in? I mean the 82 doesn't start much in winter, but we have them in a bunch of our equipment, well worth the 700 bucks and really only take an afternoon to install if you know what you're looking at. Also has the benefit of your throwing heat instantly in the cab on startup. And no extension cords all over the yard!

    You'd think they would have a grid heater at least. I don't know much about the new Deere's, but our Case IH Magnum 370 has a grid heater and starts with less than two seconds of cranking at 20 degrees no problem.

      How farms work don't worry about haters. If someone doesn't use something on a regular basis it takes a while to get used to it. +how farms work, that 8370R is very similar to the 8245R, so I believe it didn't take long to get acquainted with it.

    Just a note on the tyres comment, wide single tyres are more suited to softer ground conditions as they can operate on lower pressures, the duals are suited to firmer ground conditions which tends to be the case in the US. Agree with your comment about wider roads suiting duals though... Duals would destroy our narrow lanes with mud...

  • @lukestrawwalker

    You wanna see wide straddle duals, you should see the tractors around here still running on 40 inch rows in cotton country.... On 30 inch rows, the inside duals are 60 inches apart and the outer duals are 30 inches wider on either side than that, so 120 inches or 10 feet wide overall center-to-center. In 40 inch rows, the inside duals are set to 80 inches apart, and then the outside duals are 40 inches outside the inner duals on either side, so 160 inches or 13.3 wide overall center to center... that's not figuring in the additional width of the tire itself.
    We farm on raised beds and on beds you HAVE to have straddle duals and set them to the spacing of the row width center-to-center. Otherwise one tire will be running up on top of the bed and the other one will be up in the air doing nothing over the middles!
    The width things is another reason why most European tractors do not have bar axles, or if they do only short ones... most have flange axles that the rims bolt to, unlike US tractors with bar axles that the hub slides in and out for various row spacings. The bar axles would stick out too far past the tires in Europe...
    Later! OL J R :)

    Row Crop vs Utility
    The Row Crop is the tractor is equipped to handle "row crop" farming. Corn, sugar beets, etc, they are planted at specific row widths and the machines that care for the crop need to be able to drive between and above the rows and in many cases, they need to do it many times, tire spacing is a concern for cultivation, spraying etc.
    The utility is generally for the wide range of fieldwork where tire height and spacing doesn't matter like disking, plowing, mowing, planting etc..

    • @racer927
      @racer927 4 года назад

      Just my opinion as an FS19 player: I *hate* how row crops look, I'd rather have doubles or single wides for better field traction when planting versus row crops.
      FS19 doesn't simulate compaction so I go for the wide and/or duals (triples in cases like the famous 747-16V) unless I can use tracks, especially since I use a mod with realistic terrain handling where traction is important though I did learn that you don't use wheel weights to reduce said compaction.

  • @waterskiingfool
    @waterskiingfool 2 года назад

    That was a good cold start

  • @Snowfighter12
    @Snowfighter12 6 лет назад

    Hey Ryan, in Europe we use the wider tires because they reduce ground compaction and you can bring the power better on the ground. Kinda the same reasons why anyone should use tracks. Its better for the ground and soil and thats whats every farmer is living of. Narrow tires are only used for spraying, spreading fertilizer. Good to know for you, EU is supporting ground protection with subsidies so thats why we use that type of tires. ;)
    Hope your having a good day, greetings from germany.
    Lukas

    We put a 2 ft hose loop on one of the remotes to help warm the hydraulic system in cold weather. In North West Texas, our normal winter mornings are 10 to 25 degrees, Below 20 degrees, the 8400's computer stops movement until it is warmed some.

    • @connorvelthuis2221
      @connorvelthuis2221 6 лет назад

      Robert Reznik yeah they are actually recommended on some tractors. They do help a lot not just hydro oil but the engine too. I run mine for a minute or two without it then start the flow slow at 1500 rpm then jack the flow until the engine grunts a bit then let it sit for a bit. That’s what the book says for my 7930. It too doesn’t let you drive at a certain point like yours, and all ivt tractors do that below a certain number. Your 8400 is an e23 correct? I know they don’t offer ivt on the 8400

    • @robertreznik9330
      @robertreznik9330 6 лет назад

      Our first IVT was the 8235R. Never noticed it not being able to shift when cold...but it might have that feature if very cold. Yes kid, probably the best way to start up an engine is with a light load after the oil pressure is established. The high pressure rail injection is good for not having liquid fuel on the cold cylinder walls to shorten the life of the rings. I seldom idle long as it is not needed once the turbo is cooled.

    • @connorvelthuis2221
      @connorvelthuis2221 6 лет назад

      True. I don’t idle much, just to let the turbo cool off. Mine will not let you into gear, but once it lets you it runs like a champ. That goes for all of the Ivts I’ve ever ran. My first was a 7930. Then gradually all of ours have made the switch. The 6145r the 6150r the 7930 and the 8320r tier 3.

    What's the perk to having an ether system on these tractors even when you have a block heater vs a diesel engine that has glow plugs? My understanding of ether whether it being used on diesel or gas engines can wreak havoc after awhile or the engines become "addicted" to it and won't run without it. Is that some old thinking left over from the old days when nobody thought anything of giving a shot to their 6.9 International IDI in their Ford pickup or does that still hold some merit today?

    In Norway a tractor can be 2.55 meters wide. (8feet 4 inches ish) i you have duals on, your implement must be wider, but the max width can't be over 3.50m or 11feet 7 inches ish. And there is a stupid law that states that you can't go more than 6 miles from your farm with that wide equipment😆
