Funny, I was just thinking recently how much more the James Gang was Joe Walsh's gig, but yeah, the Eagles paid some major bills for him as well. And, he made the Eagles country ROCK. Got to see Poco on a triple bill with CSN and Loggins and Messina back in the day--fun times!
@@gary15761 not as many listened to Poco as listened to the eagles. But those that did like them more than the eagles. I do not form my musical tastes based on record sales. If I did I would like Beyonce and a bunch of rappers.
Poco were never widely known of in the UK. A flatmate put me on to them in the early 70's. Saw them in 1975 after 2 days of travel by land and sea. Little band I played in did a couple of their songs. Paul Cotton and Rusty Young both passed during the last year. Bit of trivia; in the late 70's BBC Radio One's early breakfast show host Dave Lee Travis awoke EVERY morning to Rose of Cimarron. He said that by the time the song reached its climax he hit the ground running!
@@MrFritzinger How about this?: Brings me back to a time when music that was about melodies and harmonies was everywhere; no need to search for the "right stuff."
While on my way to work this morning, I heard Timothy’s cover of “So in Love” on the radio. When I came home from work, I drowned myself in Timothy videos. He’s as beautiful as ever. His voice, of course, but, HE is beautiful. My first little girl crush 45 or so years ago - I had an older brother who was in a high school band at the time, and played various Poco songs relentlessly on his guitar in his bedroom - my personal favorite, “Keep on Tryin’” (as performed by Timothy, not my brother). Some of my other little friends had posters of Peter Frampton adorning their walls in those days. I had pictures of Timothy from Poco albums, and later the Eagles. Never grew out of my crush. I still adore his music - old and new - and beautiful Timothy.
That's my favorite too! I saw the eagles in concert when Timothy had just joined them and this gorgeous big rain cloud came down and rained on the stadium in boulder. The rain was so soft you could hear a pin drop everyone was silent and Timothy walked out with the spotlight on him with the dark clouds looming over in a misty fog, it was breathtaking as It seemed we were in a world of our own. The summer day was warm but dark and when he stopped playing it stopped raining and that cloud retreated back to the West over the mountains where it came from. I believed in rain dances after that! I went right out and bought that album from Poco!
Beautifully produced Timothy and as usual great harmony. The eagles would downgrade wihout you , I always felt you are at least on a parralel with Don and the departed Glen voice wise. the tight sound of the eagles is produced with the help of your bass playing and you ought to have been given the appropriate measure of recognition
Thank you, Timothy, for sharing with us your remarkable voice and songs with us. Years ago, I followed Poco concerts and came to love your voice. Time may have slipped by, but your voice is as pure now as it was then. So grateful that you're still making music. Hearing how beautifully you and your voice have resonated during the decades is a gift of love beyond words.
From Poco to the Eagles to "Tanto" (what I'm referring to as your current 1-man band) you are the very soul of a form of music that brings unlimited joy to this world ... Keep on singin' and songwritin' ...
I have say to it's a heck of a lot more like Poco, which is easy to defend since he was a member of that iconic country rock outfit. If you listen to Bitter Blue, from their Cantamos album, it's extremely similar. This guy is amazing and has been for years
Your so right! Still sounds as strong as it did when he joined the Eagles! He takes good care of his voice and himself and he's a cancer fighter! Wow what a great person!
This song means so much to me! Such incredible selection of words and honesty woven into the gift of this song. Thank you Timothy, you continue to shine in my heart.

Man, you've got that right JT, I believe Timothy Schmidt has the best tenor, high pitched voice in rock n roll history to be totally straightforward about it. In my opinion he's right up there with Roy Orbison, even better, as I think Timothy can hit even higher notes than Roy did. Robert Plant has a great tenor voice, gotta put him up there, he can hit wildly high notes, but his voice is more gravelly than Roy or Tim's voice. But Timothy's songwriting is beautiful. I loved his songs with Poco, have his solo albums, and if Don Henley wasn't such an egocentric group leader on the Eagles, he would have shared much more songwriting duties including Timothy in those Eagles songs. Just my opinion mind you, but being blatantly honest here. And I think the Eagles would have been better for it, if Timothy had written at least 50 % to 60 % of their songs.
The Harmony is Pure as a driven snow !!! The Lyrics are very well written! Instrumentals spot on , so soothing and refreshing!! Thanks Sir Timothy for another great song !!!
