You can't wear ear plugs at a wedding or Xmas work party, these are social events, people will want to talk with you, & there are ZERO night clubs in my country that don't play music too loud.

Musicians earplugs are your fried they are what DJs use to be able to hear, but quietly.

I do wear earplugs when I DJ, but what about the people on the dance floor, exciting sound NOT loud sound is what's needed.
