There are so many places to go, and yet my wife and I can't stop going to England. Truly a lifelong love affair
I have been to Salisbury/Wells this week and what I find outrageous is the fact that they charge you 14 Pounds for entering the cathedrals. Four weeks ago I made a tour through France, all these great cathedrals in Straßbourg, Bourges, Tours, Chartes, Auxerre and NO entrance fees; over there they are still the houses of God, although you will find visitors as well.
What was most disgusting:
in both cathedrals (Wells and Salisbury) I saw people taking dogs inside, would you believe it? When I made a remark about that to one of the custodians, he smiled condescendingly and told me "they are all God´s creatures, aren`t they?" So next time I will bring a calf and some rats...
