I was thinking of the wholesale side of this. Jobs you can print for other small creators. I am so excited for what is happening with your business. Lots of love!
Brilliant Idea! heheh I actually talked to a friend and small business in the office next door, and we were talking about making her items up on our printer at a fee hehe
Your little story and pep talk brought tears to my eyes, I feel like I needed to hear that. Also I'm excited for you to hopefully get the big printer. If it's meant to be, the means will manifest themselves into reality.

Definitely look into crowdfunding to (partially) fund the printer. I think some of your followers (including me) wouldn’t mind pitching in to see your business grow and thrive with this printer by your side.
Regarding the purchase of the printer, i would do some detailed calculations on how long it would take to start making profit off the products you would produce with that machine. How much does it cost to purchase that machine, and then what products would you create with them? How is your profit margin after all costs for each product you would sell when it was produced in house? How much would you pay for the inks/other maintainance supplies for the printer per how many products produced? Then also count in the manpower required to produce the products as well as the loss for incorrectly printed items. I would run these numbers in great detail and then calculate from the estimated profit how many months/years it would take to have the machine paid off and be able to earn a "real profit". I think it is important for this to be a decision based on numbers and not on emotions to avoid later regret❤
I love following along on your professional and personal journey. I ran my own business for 11 years. I knew my business was a phase and wouldn’t last forever. I always prayed to know and have the strength to walk away when it was time. I wish you much prosperity in the new year and with all the decisions you are to make. ❤
I love the bamboo story- how true! And just what I needed to hear. I see so many small businesses close up shop and it's sad to see. What a great encouragement to have patience and push through ❤
always love you and your videos!🥰 I know you are so excited, I know the exact feeling when wanting something so cool for a business 😁although I get a strong feeling in the end that printer would end up causing you more hassles and money that what you get out of it in return🥺Similar to the seconds troubles with the other in-house products but with a lot more to loose due to the cost of the machine, end up taking up more time and resources away from running the business. True you will get more control over testing new products, but the hassles normally the outsourced printers have to deal with instead of you, will also now be your hassles, adding to the general day to day issues that come up in the business, making it more stressful than less stressful😕 I just get the feeling it’s the big studio situation all over again, in a different form, where it seems like it’s awesome but ends up costing lots and taking away from your business rather than adding😊 Anyway you know what is best for your business, I won’t debbie downer your anymore☺x
I see what you mean, but we have similar hassles with outsourcing, particulary when it comes to quality, often times it pushes our launches back because we have ran into issues, and it takes over a week to resolve because of the back and forth, I suppose it would be trading one hassle for the next 🤣 but at least this way we could maybe employ inhouse or give Mike more hours hehe
£15,000 is alot of money so ensure that you create extra money streams this year. I look forward towards seeing your company grow more in 2024. You have been quite inspirational to me and my creativity. Keep shining Catherine 😊 I went Bristol a few years ago and it was 4-5 hours If I can remember to Bristol and back to Yorkshire it is a long drive it is. And good that they paid for your travel for the team too! 😊 Please let us know where and when you are in Leeds again doing a work trip. Leeds love people who visit Leeds. ❤️
Hehehe I love Leeds! It’s a wonderful city and only up the road from us hehehe thank you so much for watching and yes! I agree with the income streams hehe! 🥹🎀
Definitely consider making stickers for other small businesses using the machine, would be a good extra stream of income and help recoup your initial costs.
Excited to see what direction you go with the Roland printer! I hope and know that whatever path you decide to take regarding the purchase or not that you'll be doing what is right for you and the business as a whole! Seeing the growth of Katnipp over all of these months and into years has really been a gigantic motivator and makes me feel so proud to be a part of the Katnipp community! Here's to what's to come! /cheers!
This is such awesome news. I love watching your business grow. I hope you are able to get this. Have you thought about running a kickstart campaign? Maybe create some kickstart exclusive products? Not sure but just an idea if you haven't considered it.
The printer looks awesome, and the UV printer would save you on drying time, giving you a faster turnaround. Sounds silly, but don't forget to check its size and weight, and how you will get it into your studio (eg: what floor you are on). Btw, Happy New Year to you all at Katnipp.🙂
Happy New Year Katherine! It’s 15 January 2024 for me. Love watching the journey you’re on with Katnipp. Here’s to a fantastic and blessed new year and beyond.
You should see if Roland would collaborate with you on the printer so you can video and promote them. Also consider a go fund for the printer from your viewers and patrons. Just a thought. Every little bit helps.🤗🇨🇦
@@eszemaszeszed I've worked my butt off to be able to save and pay for those things, all the while working while I was on those trips 🤪🤪🤪, so I don't really understand the passive aggressive dig although I can understand why asking people to pay for the printer seems a little much, which is why I would never ask, however joanne was just making a nice gesture and I really appriciate it! It was a lovely thing to suggest 🌷although for me personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable asking for help in that department
Would the new printer be able to print your own calendars as well as stickers? If so maybe this will end up saving you money as you wouldn’t have to outsource them. I think this is exciting! I am such a tech nerd so I am excited for you! PS your voice is so beautiful when you were reading the bamboo story. You should be a voice for books!
It could! But I don't think we would print calenders on this, its more for stickers ect for us personally, although theres alot more product options that we would love to add hehe

Hey Catherine 🤗 I’m looking forward to seeing if you are able to invest in that printer. It does look epic. I love your planning videos too - I love hearing your ideas 🩷 xxx
I have been watching your videos since you work from your bedroom home, Is amazing how you are able to achieved and grow, is great 😊. You and Den also look incredible. Congratulations, all the best for you in everything you do. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
Catherine, I have been watching you grow your business since about 2018, and you have always been such a big inspiration to me. I recently made my own scary investment in an epson eco tank- nothing like a Roland printer, but I'm still not sure if it was a good business decision. My etsy shop was doing well with clay figurines, but I want to sell my illustrations at the end of the day. I am taking my own leap of faith and investing in my self right along side you, just in my own way! Trust in your creative gifts and always keep creating ❤❤❤
Dont worry investments like that usually work out in the end, investing in a bunch of printers worked out for me in the long term, but sometimes they can take a while to work out! You got this!
I think you definitely need a small line of wholesale. I worked for a woman in the US who sold cards and prints basically from her home and garage! please come up with a fundraiser or investment opportunity for your flowers. Maybe some preorders with the understanding that it could take a while to receive them!
What if you did a kickstarter project that funds the printer with a special bundle of items you make on the printer? Make a new series as a bundle, and add $5 or whatever to the total to help fund the printer.
Your business's growth is heartwarming. Here at The Evelyn Winters Adventure I appreciated the delightful story and your commitment to spreading the joy of storytelling - a value close to my heart ❤
Was waiting for your vlog. Another viewer all the way down in Australia. Happy New Year to you and the team. Looking forward to what 2024 brings. Good luck with whatever decision you make in regard to the printer…hope it all works out 🥰🤗
I just wanted to say that if you do go for one, i would love to commission some jobs. so say a meter's worth of of stickers or a product, which would be easy to cost out and i think a lot of other people would want to as well. Like you say doing things over the pond takes time and can be messy when it goes wrong. You could have 1 day a week to commission work and simple print cut roll and send in a tube so the customer would do the fiddly popping out of the cuts. This would also help finance the printer and be a better guarantee of work and income so no slow summer.
I love your stickers and have bought some in the past. As I’ve moved over to digital planning it would be amazing if you sold the same sticker sheets as digital stickers too!
It's not clear to me why you want to buy a printer that will be obsolete in 5 years time: this is the kind of investment a professional printer would do, not an artist with a limited (even if quite big) number of selling. You need dozens of thousends of printings a year to get back the money you're paying, are you sure is going to be more profittable than working with good professional printers that can do anything that machine can do and maybe to invest the same ammount of money to hire back your sister or someone else?
yeah, exactly, and the upkeep, the materials, the learning curve? when will that actually atart bringing in profit? is there enough space for it even? does it really worth 15k+?
I wouldnt do it right now honestly if you dont already have the money saved up. Maybe in 2025. Getting a loan right now with inflation and everything else going on you have to be careful. Big purchases like this you really need to think about if your business is gonna be able to pay that loan off or pay you back in the long run.
I was thinking of the wholesale side of this. Jobs you can print for other small creators. I am so excited for what is happening with your business. Lots of love!
Wholesale printing for other small businesses and creators would definitely help long-term in recouping the initial expenditure in buying the machine.
@@serenabrent8832 exactly, they are basically making zero profit until all costs are made back so sooner the better
