@@dan70338 I'm very sorry but what you're saying is untrue. Animals of different species can sometimes reproduce. The offspring being called an hybrid. Mule for example.
I have a question:Is it true that some species become the same colours as the enviornment they are grown in or this a myth and it all depends on the coloration of their parents?
Actually both facts are the reason why this insects have different colours, patterns and shapes because of their environment and natural selection taking over of the situation as always. The insects that better adapt in order to survive (and this involves their colour and shape even their behaviors must change) and thus be more likely to pass their genes to the next generation. So it usually depends on the coloration of their parents, but it also could be because of the colour of the place where they live for instance a kind of seahorses (I don't remember the species) that have two options go to a blue coral or red coral and depending of their choice they will be red or blue. Psd: I know that they are not insects but that's the point ...
No I didn't mean natural selection. The example you gave with the sea horses is the sort of thing that interests me. Here's an examplary situation: you have two I. diabolica (male and female with different colors) they mate and have offspring. My question is: is their coloring ENTIRELY dependant on the colors of their parents (both expressed or potentially hidden within their genotypes) or do they posses a more developed version of those sea horses's ability in which they imbrace the colors of the inviornment they have lived in? I've read that diabolicas have this ability but now that I think about it, it's probably like with aquarium fish whose colors simply become more vibrant or dull, depending on the lighting so they can blend in.
I imagine how many of these get stepped on for fun thinking that they are dry leafes
None.
