You noticed the Indiana Jones jacket on Lonestar. Another fun fact about this movie is that when Mel Brooks asked George Lucas for permission to spoof Star Wars, one of Lucas's stipulations was not to dress Lonestar like Han Solo. So Brooks dressed him like Indiana Jones 😂😉
In return for help with some of the special effects from Lucas they had to agree to no movie merch. It was thought that merch would detract from the star wars stuff already out. Mel Brooks got George Lucas's permission. Lucas only had a couple of requests. No Luke Skywalker character. That is why Lonestar is more Han Solo. Brooks also dressed him like Indiana Jones just to mess with Lucas. Lucas also requested no merchandising. That is why Brooks jokes about all of the merchandising throughout the movie.
He was also one of the villains from the episode of TNG where they did the whole baryon sweep of the Enterprise. I knew him for years from Star Trek long before I realized that was him in Spaceballs. In fact, I learned that maybe a month or so ago.

Dot was voiced by the legendary Joan Rivers. She’s best known for substituting for Johnny Carson on The Late Show & hosting red carpet commentary at award shows & movie premieres.

In the DVD audio commentary for the movie, Mel Brooks jokes that they saved around $1,000 by letting him do this. Doll Balls Fact: The scene in which Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis) is playing with his dolls was not in the screenplay. Star Wars Cameo Fact: The Millennium Falcon from the Star Wars saga makes a cameo appearance in this movie. George Lucas got a chance to read the screenplay before production began, and loved it so much that he decided to have his special effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, help make this movie.

I love the subtle jokes in this movie! My favorite is in the “We ain’t found shit” scene. Helmet has a bullhorn in his hands and uses it to talk to Col. Sanders who’s sitting right next to him. When he’s done, he puts the bullhorn down and yells across the desert to the guys “combing the desert” LOL

One of my favorite facts about this movie … When Mel Brooks approached George Lucas about making this movie, one of Lucas’s stipulations was none of the characters could look exactly like actual Star Wars characters … Han Solo was played by Harrison Ford in Star Wars … to make Han Solo’s character in Spaceballs different, Mel had Lone Starr dressed as Indiana Jones, which is Harrison Ford’s other iconic role … Lucas also had Mel Brooks agree there would be no Spaceballs merchandise sold … So Mel put the merchandise scene in, trolling Star Wars for all the merchandise they had made.
When I first saw the alien come out and do his song and dance number, I literally ROFL'd for a good five minutes. My parents had to pause the VCR, but I couldn't stop laughing it was so silly. I, too. would also like a t-shirt of that as well.

This is Brooks' response to that. 24:27 - And this extra would grow up to be Tuvok on Star Trek: Voyager. 26:34 - He's WALKING on those Danny Glover knees. One of the greatest movies ever Mel Brooks is a genius 💯💯💯
This is in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. Could possibly be in my 1# spot 🤔. Pretty much every moment there is a joke whether it be in the script or just hidden
Definitely need to add a "STFU" counter. 😆 👍
I hope you watch young Frankenstein. Great Mel Brooks film with Gene Wilder.
