Dude I was bawling and drowning in my own tears the entire ending cutscene. I cried again watching it happen this game is so underrated. Realizing how the story goes and how all the pieces fit is so good. Also OST 10/10. And yeah the snake is the mom, the keeper is just the physical embodiment of pain, stabbing the grandpa when he saw his dead son to represent how he felt (an actual stab in the heart). Despite how short the playthrough it I feel like I got my money's worth for the experience only, the way they chose to tell the story and the metaphors behind it was brilliant. One Shot is another good indie game, not as short as Inmost but not that long either, another story-driven game that stuck with me, I highly recommend it.
@@MythyMoo I love all your gameplays, hollow knight's and celeste's have been my favorite so far! As soon as silksong comes out (and after I've beaten it myself) I'm gonna stalk your channel for the gameplay lmao. Keep it up and thanks for replying ♥
Knight representing old man's son and snake representing his wife seems somewhat odd to me, but i suppose it fits the best. I was really immersed into knight's lore the most. His end was just devestating. such powerful and emotional game
I think flowers mean children and the way people sought sanctuary from pain is by having children? As the white haired girl is referred to as the second flower, and the dad (the knight) was said to be a thief of a flower ( narrated by the white hair girl) who resented the dad for ‘stealing’ her and said the flower would never be his.
its like this, the knight "stole" the flower and wanted it to become his soul flower and clense his black heart. the flower is the little girl with white hair adnd the knight is the man without the beard that only sometimes appears. that man saved the girl (the flower) from the burning house, and at the same time hoped that taking care of her and saving her would make up for his real daughter commiting suicide (which we see as the main character banging on the door) the reason the knight "stole" the flower is because she didnt know her house was burning down and that the fire consumed her parents until the end of the game, thats why she said the story is no longer about pain, but of love, because the knight didnt steal her from her parents, he saved her with the compassion in his heart and the hope to overcome his pain and suffering to better the girls life. this game is too deep
Well, I'm going to go hug my sister. She is 13, 11 years apart from me being 24. She struggles with depression, never wanting to do anything to better herself. She'd just rather sit in her room on her computer all day. Covid is hard on he; she's restricted from seeing her friends very often. She makes up excuses about helping around the house. Fights start between my parents because no one can get her to cooperate. She just closes herself off. I don't think I can show her this video... but what matters is that I saw it. We do all have pain, but those moments can become lessons to better yourself off of and those around us.
I know that exact feel. I also struggle with depression myself, and trust me, we don't really WANT to be stuck. We don't really NOT WANT to do anything to better ourselves. This feeling even has a name, executive dysfunction. Does she do therapy? It is amazing for it. It takes time to recover, might take years, but it helps a lot in time. Just please stop the fights, it can really make things get worse and it's no one's fault.
please do what you can for her, its common for teenagers to "be depressed", but if things are as you say, you can be of great help.. let her know you are there for her and that you love her.. i wish i had some one growing up that would help me or something... let her know that shes not alone and she doesnt need to bear her problems alone, loneliness is the worst part tbh, whatever u do will help her down the road, trust me you dont want her to become me.. i dont remember when i was not depressed anymore, not sure who i was.. but thats what 10 to 15 years of depression does to your mind.. help her
i wish someone realized this about me, instead of just feeding more "pain" into my already misserable life. I guess some of us just have to come out on top with their "pain" by themselves
honestly, really one of my favorite videos of yours, i really appreciate when ppl talk about real stuff... i really like the ending part where you give your thoughts after rewatching the footage, and not only your first impressions, REALLY nice work myth, just know that we appreciate you so much

(to long to make speling corrections) dont known if you read this this but here we go, about the snake, especially the image behind the keeper is a representation of the ouroboros, a neverneding cycles, in this case the neverending cycle of pain, and the snake the knight fought is the wife becoming one with the cycle of pain, essencially showing whan she lost herself on the cylce, when the snake first appears its another sprite that turn into the snake so i guess it could be said that the other sprite is the mother that is also in her onwn way colecting pain for the keeper but because of it became part of the cycle. dont know if managed to get my point across but either way, much love from Brazil, ive been watching your content for about 2 years now and your absolutly incredible

Been watching since Metal Gear Rising/Neir: Automata, and I'm so glad to see games appreciated as art with heartfelt commentary (and perfectly timed dodges and parries).
4:52 It's good that you feel that way. Most of the time, you can be certain that it could be significantly worse. When i was 4, i got taken care of by a forsterhome, and with 5 by a forsterfamilie. And till this day, i'm certain that my life had the best possible outcome, considering my situation, especially when you here those horrostorys about some forsterfamilies. And even though some people can't help feeling bad for me, i'm grateful for that outcome!
Great video! I'd give it a depression/10. You should check out "My friend Pedro" it's like a couple hours long and you get to ride a skateboard, shoot a pan into the air and ricochet bullets of it to kill people, while a talking banana cheers you on. You'll probably enjoy it.
The witch in the story is regarded as a once happy genuine person who had grown her own flower and wished for it to change the world, but then lost it to the castle (could be society(?) as the story in the beginning states that many castles have been built and destroyed) and became grieving and depressed. It is also stated that she was the key to the knight being accepted by the flower, but she wouldn't help him over the grief of her lost one. The parallels between her and the mother become even clearer when reading a sentence from the narrator that states that everytime she(witch) saw a flower she decended more into madness. It's also likely that the woman being turned into the snake is the witch, the mom equivalent in the knight story. She is also the one to give you the black heart in the game.
I think the Keeper is the dad's job. He goes out to accumulate pain all day (maybe he's trying to climb the ladder at work and has to trample others to get that promotion or whatever), and he gets a tiny payment compared to what his boss receives.
Losing a child has to be the worst thing to ever experience. I'm not even a parent but stuff like this always breaks me Thank you for playing this, i never would've heard of this game otherwise and it is a really beautiful game
The story teller had a lot more to say, for every 10th pain crystal he says the story in parallel of the witch, the knight and the castle. the full story teller story is the witch(mom) can never forgive the knight(dad) for letting the keeper take her flower, and also that you(grandpa) is changing the world(the girls story from tragic to lvoe). extra note for the many great parallels. The fountain shows the grandpa and his wife, where the wife dies. The witch gets infused with pain crystals by the keeper and becomes a serpent to attack the knight just as he could leave the land of the keeper = The mom is overcome with grief and attacks the dad just as the girl accepts him. The grief of the mother is the black slime that consumes all. etc.
Regret watching this on one of my bad days oof. This hits home, I'm not adopted by any means, but my father is abusive and I've been in many different places/homes to avoid it. Disassociation and creating imaginary friends when I was younger was something I did almost daily just to blackout and avoid my parents arguing or shouting at me. I'm 21 now, have an amazing relationship with my mum but after my dad assaulted me last year home has been really hard, especially through covid. I think Hidden Layer Games and Chucklefish have done something incredible here, and I honestly cannot thank them enough for creating this 'pain/love' explanation for mental illnesses. Sorry for the deep comment, just thought I'd add extra to Myths childhood story too. Thanks for the upload as always
Dude i was happy and dandy watching you play Zelda, i found this after and GOD i'm now drowning from tears, i like how they depicted the knight killed the father and mother of the adopted girl in 23:26 as she thought she was kidnapped.gonna spend my day lying around and cry now

Ok so I just finished the whole video and saw that you want more short games to make into long videos, if that's the case I highly suggest undertale. It has a phenomenal story and pretty decent gameplay and can be played pretty quickly, especially if repeating combat and stuff is edited out. And if it's a little too long you can never go wrong with Deltarune, as it is an alternate reality of undertale. I loved this video and if you do more long ones you best know I'll be watching them.
Thanks for introducing this game to me. On 20 min mark, understood that I need to play this game by myself and couldn`t drop it until I finished it, just like you. Really loved your long video. It helped to settle emotions from game and to notice few details I missed during my play-through. For more games like this I would recommend: OneShot and To The Moon.
The story of the knight is being told by the girl. As she saw the world. The keeper isn't pain, it is Life. In her eyes, Life requires pain to live. The Grandfather said it himself. He said two things: the Man was never a knight and Life doesn't want your pain and suffering. It just is. In her eyes, Life bound the knight and created the snake(The mother's Grief). She just knew pain and confusion growing up. It wasn't until the Grandfather talks that she realizes that the Knight was also in pain. His pain WAS the price He paid to make her happy. She thought he killed her parents and she was taken. She was then realizing he was also suffering. She started to accept him. The flower's pain goes to him and the barrier shatters. He accepts her pain because another way to take someone else's pain is to make it your own. Isn't that what the Grandfather said? Unfortunately, not everyone can handle pain the same way. The mother couldn't. He just wanted the flower. She wanted them to reunite with her own flower. When the Keeper(the Girl's version of Life) stabbed the Grandfather, it hurt him but he carried on. He lost his Son but he still had someone he could still save. He had to find the Girl. He had to fight through pain and save her. Such a good and sad game.
You have no idea how fulfilled and relieving it is to see that the child survived. So... The "Knight" (Father) is the one who saved the "little flower" the small little white-haired child... Tried to give her a new life. The father previously had a flower too. A bright little black flower. She couldn't thrive in her environment. The black flower died. Committing suicide. The black flower is the father's original child... The father tried to help the white flower. As he too felt pain, he understands the white flower's pain very well. However, his wife did not take this very well... As the white flower isn't the same black flower that they had once before. The wife took the pain from "The Keeper" (Life) and she herself becomes a "Monster" that the Knight fought... The Knight and The Monster did not survive... As the Monster took both their lives and the Grandfather had to come to the rescue. The Grandfather succeeded. At the cost of his pain...
MythyMoo the serpent is part of the pain, who we all serve with, we all have and if you notice, when the guardian is in the throne the serpent is on the back but its clear its an ouroboros symbol, the serpent that eats its own tail.. seems that tries to symbolize pain is inescapable and eternal, we all have pain, we all bear it and is inevitable and never ending.
After watching this for like 10 minutes, I had to stop because I never heard of this game and want to play it for myself now. I'll come back and watch your playthrough after I finish mine. Thanks for introducing me to this game Mr. Moo!
I think the black haired girl that turned into giant snake was the allegory for wife going crazy and killing the husband. And the keeper is an incarnation of pain itself.
"Do you wanna cry today," Myth asks, "Sure," she replies to the video because she's completely sane, yup, "that is if you can make me." And well. Myth delivered I was bawling my eyes out, mumbling between sobs about how it isn't fair. Something about this game hit close to home. And while it was kinda awful, it was also really great? Thanks Myth. Lovely vid.
As an adopted father of a daughter myself. This really hit me hard, her mother was an associate of mine and left her home to run off with a new man leaving her daughter to fend for herself and I have to say adopting a young girl as a single man was a rough journey and the courts gave me a hard time. If you were to ask me if it was worth it, I would go through it all over again. She's turning 19 this December and has some trust issues but she's the best thing that's ever happened to me and I wouldn't trade her for the world.
Hey Myth! So a short game you might like is Gris. Beautiful visuals, music and story. It's a bit of a similar feeling of the game (it's an emotional rollercoaster) but when you finish it you feel almost lighter in a way. I cannot recommend the game enough.

I was more shocked by how the story played out, I understood some aspects but it was tied together in the end and, wow, heavy
This is enough to make a grown man cry, but not this MAN.
GET BACK IN THERE TEAR!
"Give me a key. THATS PAIN" why do I relate to this
I got nothing to do and just found myth’s vid that is 1 hour long, i watch it till the end
And now im in pain
You definetly got the same story out of it as I did, this is the best explanation of this game that I've heard
God damn, this is a really good story. When I finally pieced it all together in my head it hit HARD.
This game hit me so hard. I havent cried this hard in a long time. Thank you Myth for playing this for us and going thru it with us.....
"she blamed him,she blamed you." Jesus f*ck that hit me harder than it supposed to.

This game looks beautiful man.
MythyMoo the serpent is part of the pain, who we all serve with, we all have and if you notice, when the guardian is in the throne the serpent is on the back but its clear its an ouroboros symbol, the serpent that eats its own tail.. seems that tries to symbolize pain is inescapable and eternal, we all have pain, we all bear it and is inevitable and never ending.
myth no I just finished To the Moon I’m already in tears
After watching this for like 10 minutes, I had to stop because I never heard of this game and want to play it for myself now. I'll come back and watch your playthrough after I finish mine. Thanks for introducing me to this game Mr. Moo!
I think the black haired girl that turned into giant snake was the allegory for wife going crazy and killing the husband. And the keeper is an incarnation of pain itself.
What Remains of Edith Finch! Short story driven GORGEOUS game with amazing music and emotions
This matrix will do anything to make you feel like it is hopeless.
Pain makes you stronger.
It is a test to make sure you make it in this world.
"Do you wanna cry today," Myth asks,
"Sure," she replies to the video because she's completely sane, yup, "that is if you can make me."
And well. Myth delivered I was bawling my eyes out, mumbling between sobs about how it isn't fair. Something about this game hit close to home. And while it was kinda awful, it was also really great? Thanks Myth. Lovely vid.
What an experience. (Applause) It certainly expresses the issues contained, in a true, gritty, and mature way.
52:00 the duality of man
As an adopted father of a daughter myself.
Wow this game hits deep. I'd honestly love to see myth play more things like this.
Also wanna see myth play undertale at some point
Here I am, just finished End of Evangelion and I'm like "Ooh, new MythyMoo, that'll be a good way to decompress a bit." Fucking hell.
The video was AWESOME!! it really gets you to think about so many things. Thanks for uploading this!
Must be nice to be able to cry whenever you want to
Ngl I panicked a little when I woke up and didn't see Mythy upload but I'm glad it's just a late upload from usual upload schedule
RUclips: How many ads?
MythyMoo: Yes
first vid in a while for me with no adds
This mans merch design is literally the only one I’ve seen that is not cringe and ugly and actually pretty cool
Hey Myth! So a short game you might like is Gris. Beautiful visuals, music and story. It's a bit of a similar feeling of the game (it's an emotional rollercoaster) but when you finish it you feel almost lighter in a way. I cannot recommend the game enough.
RUclips: Mythymoo has posted an hour-long video
Me: YES
Honestly, I would love more hour-long videos
i cried. Thx myth for bringing up this wonderfull games, u should have more subs and really man you re one of the fewest youtubers i follow and i enjoy so much your vids. keep it up
The keeper reminded me a lot of Artorias for some reason
Myth: Do you want to cry today?
Me: You mean AGAIN? suuuuure
No one else still in pain when i realised his intro is a remix from an AoT death scene😂
Damn bro, this game hits different. I wasn't ready to watch the whole thing, but I was just hooked by the story and visuals, and I am goad I have watched the whole vid now
Damn. Got me a teary eye for a couple moments there.
Amazing how can someone make a piece of art with just few pixels~
"i can bear any pain as long as it has a meaning"
idk who said this i read it in a meme but it fits well the whole video i guess
The MISSING: J.J.macfield and the island of memories
Try this one out plz
I don't have a game but I got a movie it's called The Silent Voice if u want a sad sappy real life issues type movie this is it. It's a anime movie, u can find it on netflix and RUclips movies I'm pretty sure.
10:56 Creepy ghost: "Pull my finger."
Dude, this was beautiful. Thanks man for uploading this, It really got me.
i would love to see you play "to the moon" its a very beautiful story
Wait
A 1 hour Mythmoo video?!
*now that's epic*
Now this comes from a guy who grew up with only his grandmother: don't lose your soul, even if the world punishies you for having one... you will miss it some much..
I really moved this. A nice little game i think would be cool for you to play is a little game called Itta, it's a bullet hell, easy gane with a little somber story.
Thank you very much for posting it all in one vid, really hit hard.
PLEASE continue Hyper Light Drifter!
A 1 hour video? Gotta need popcorn for this one
YES! I was going to suggest you play this, it is a beautiful game, I’m so happy you’re playing this!
This is why people should need a license to have kids.
Dear Lord that was horrifically sad.
Every goddamn second of this gave me goosebumps.
