Its VERY obvious what this mod is trying to do (and succeeding). In the base game, there are marine corpses scattered throughout many of the levels. This represents fighting that DID happen but the marines lost before you get there. In this mod they removed the prescattered corpses and instead made you fight WITH the marines. Whence the addition of healthpack drops from marines and such. Very cool concept

@@pvt.jonwallace didn't the POA carry multiple tanks, vehicles and aircraft that may have been recovered? Pretty sure that a lot of equipment that wasn't destroyed or damage when the POA crashed survived. The Halo CE, the game doesnt go into detail like the books, but that just my observation. This would be cool. Also the covenant does not use human weapons or equipment since it is heretical to their faction.
There's actually a theory going around that Chief accidently lowered the security mechanisms through the entire installation on this mission and this allowed the Flood escape.

They lured Chief in to deactivate the entire security grid for Halo and override Guilty Spark. One thing this makes me feel is appreciating when the canon was spartans all wore the same type of armor looking the exact same not some unicorn vomit coloured mysterio helmet people.
Marines WERE underground in the og game.. they were just dead when you get there. The og game tells a ton of lore with environmental story telling. In this mod it lets you experience the battle instead of witness the aftermath of the other squads. (If you noticed, no marine preplaced corpses.)
Seeing this mod for the first time made me realize how lonely and tame the Campaign is in general. Sure those RED AND GOLD Elites rock my shit up on Heroic still but man it gets lonely and there aren't enough Covies to kill. Also frustrating seeing them Marines get squashed even while I babysit them 🤣thanks for showing this off! I'm downloading this now
My pipe dream is to have this mission created with the gamplay of something like insurgency or tarkov, basically the equivalent of the saving private ryan d-day scene but with this mission and the gameplay and visuals more akin to H2A's
marines actually firing and hitting targets feels weird. but its good cuz they never did that in the games. it always made me annoyed at how useless they were.
im not a big fan of spartans in game just using a pistol i get it theyre spartans but i just see it like they would choose heavier weapons or even use a covenant weapon instead of a pistol
@@weetytoaster1835 well now the more I thought about it...IT IS POSSIBLE, you can download the tags for many stuff from other mods with their author's permissions and make one biug mod containing them in theory. there's a bunch of mods I played through that did have shared assets.
do you mind if i ask you how you got "ai" spartans to show in anniversary graphics? from my understanding for tags to show in anniversary graphics every tag needs to have a original name so no custom names. there is no cyborg actor variant tag so how would that work?
that is a good question for the mod author, I am merely a guy showcasing it. My guess is that they just slapped Master Chief's model on a biped and gave him friendly A.I or something like that. If you watch carefully you'll see that all spartans use recycled animations from the player, and when they encounter another entity or you touch them they will inmediately snap attention to you. this indicates that their A.I is indeed programmed as a Marine but the lack of animations for a NPC Spartan make them snap into action like robots which oddly enough is how spartans are described in the lore by non-augmented individuals
As a fellow modder, how did you get your modification to work in remaster? My mods only script based but for some reason remaster graphics are disabled when i run it
this mod "works" in anniversary graphics because I manually replaced Halo CE's Map files with them odded ones directly instead of using Steam Workshop. As far as I am aware any mod designed to run anniversary graphics like yours should be loaded in this manner and not though the workshop

You must replace the vanilla map files with the mod's map files, this way you trick the game into allowing anniversary graphics since theres no custom assets on this mod to break them.
disappointing shooting through pelican before landing and the UI colors for health/radar are atrocious... but still love what this mod is trying to do in general.
As cool as this is, the way I see it is all this mod does is make an already easy level easier. The game becomes unbalanced in your favor when you add more allies unless you're seriously outnumbered.

Normally, playing on Heroic or Legendary makes the enemies tougher. Here, it makes every Marine Rambo. (Or Sly Marbo, if you're a WH40K fan)
