I appreciate how much effort you put into this and how you don't pull punches. I'd love to see more in-depth reviews like this from you. Even if it's older games.
I have this pinball machine in my living room. The highest I've ever gotten was 28 million on Michelangelo. I just got over 11 million this evening on Leonardo. I'm no Pinball Wizard, I just love playing it.
Cary I appreciate how honest you are in your videos... I am finally, FINALLY, able to buy my first pin ever. Was set on TMNT ever since it was announced, went to my local dealer this weekend debating TMNT, JP, and DP. Tried all three, left stuck between DP and TMNT... Deadpool really wowed me with the sound and video package and the TMNT difficulty seemed a bit high, but that theme is better for me. I don't know I'm just stuck and can't decide... Anyways thanks again for the great review, hopefully can make up my mind soon.
I recently played TMNT for the first time, and it was way better than I thought it would be. It's infinitely better than Stranger Things. So many fun, satisfying shots.
Just thought I’d throw it out there. On Pinside there’s a thread under the TMNT machine, titled “The 1987 Code” you can flash a new image to an SD card, it replaces all the animations with scenes from the original animated series, and custom music, I.E. new boss music... All the overlays are still factory. Daveyvandy and Delt31 did an awesome job with it, and if you don’t like it you can just swap out the original SD and it’s back to factory (power off before you swap!) but I think that would knock out really the only few negatives you had about the machine.
Cary, I love that you stay true to your feelings on the game. So many other reviews are just sucking up to stern that they are afraid to tell the truth. It is transparent when others do it and refreshing you don't. Keep it up!
I played this game at Cal Extreme last weekend for the first time and I loved it. It was miles better than John Wick. I’m hooked and really want one now.
If you only could buy two games, IMO, if you own TMNT and Ghostbusters, you have #1 and #2 in the next ten years. Not sure which one is number 1 yet.....
We got 2 machines in here. GB Pro & TMNT Pro. Really the best "bang for the buck" out there. We tried them all (IMDN, JP, DP...), and even got IMDN for a few months. But those 2 really stand out.
Killer reveiw. I'm a fairly new subscriber and I like that your honest about everything you talk about... just a normal guy playing pinball with honest opinions.. i think you've talked me into this pin.
You really know how to review machines bro. You’re critiques are absolutely spot on. Got a premium for $7200 a few days ago. I’m wondering if there’s a newer code to fix the ball lock up there. Same thing happened to mine tonight.
Great video! I’d appreciate any advice on my first pinball to buy. My two favorite genres are Stern TMNT and Halloween. I’m leaning towards HWN but just hesitant because I’m afraid HWN might not have as much to offer, as far as modes and multiplayer. Just was worried I’d get sick of the same old gameplay.. Again, an awesome machine visually though. And because I recently converted 1 of my rooms into a small home arcade, with 2 Nascar sitdowns, Superchexx, BBH reloaded, and a multi arcade, I definitely want a pinball. Just been saving up. Thanks again for giving me any of your time and advice, as it is a huge price and I respect your opinion from watching your videos.
Years later and all I hear is hate for this game. Mainly due to the rules and more aptly the scoring. But there are complaints about the shots as well. I haven't played one that I recall. Maybe at TPF, so I'm curious to know your current take on this title.
I have a video that goes over the versions, yes. I went with the pro: 1. Cost 2. The extra features don't really add enough for the amount of money you will spend. The pro hasn't had as many problems as the LE's have.
Great point about animations compared to BKSoR...very shortly after getting the game, I too started skipping them. Game is def a winner and really fun to shoot!
Thanks for the great review! Just got my Pro yesterday and LOVE it! However, already had the ball lock issues you described with the post pulsing too fast and needing to manually remove the balls. I messaged Stern and my distributor. Did Stern reply to you on this about a possible fix? New code update yesterday but doesn't look to be addressed. Thanks for all that you do!
I have switched to the Titan pinballs (original polished) and that issue hasn't happened since. I plan to go over that in a future video. The issue is with the balls stern uses. They are HIGHLY magnetic.
Pro all day for reliability. Premium doesn't change the way the game plays enough. The diverter on the premium has been known to be prevalent to problems.
For me these machines take forever to figure out. Like what everything does. Quick example, ive played this machine for probably 2 total hours and i can't tell you what "April" or "lair" actually does. I wish there were easy-to-use resources out there that fully explained some of these machines and what the progression is like/what everything does specifically.
I’ve owned the game for about a month now playing a hour or two everyday. And everything you said is spot on. Even down to the locked balls being literally locked. Mostly the animation is what bothers me, I always skip it, and April looks like someone at the company let their kid animate her. That aside I like the game. Great review.
You seem to have forgotten Borg's biggest FU game - XMEN! Oh, you're having a good game? Well HAVE SOME MAGNET! Oh, the Wolverine magnet didnt get you? well then heres some MAGNETO MAGNET! FUCK YOU! The upper flipper reminds me of XMEN as well.
ive been playing this game a while now and shit htere are so many quick orbits to do with perfect timing its nuts! This game also drains so fast its wild but that edge you play with is fun.
Hell this game also is fast as hell, you do a double center orbit and the speed shoots it off into the glass alot. Ive never had a games balls hit the glass so much, but the speed is always holy shit its fast woooooo.
@@randallkipker9990 Starship Troopers or Stranger Things? lol. Either way I would pick TMNT. I haven't played STh with the new code, but my initial experience is infamous.
Yah if the Graphic art took the path that deadpool did with more of a comic book art it would have been great. Sort of like the new TMNT shredders revenge game
Dude, this was fantastic. I hope you can bring us more reviews in the future. I know you're not Zach Meny and getting a new pin every week, but maybe you can review location machines or find pinheads in your area? I don't know, but hopefully you can figure something out.
I haven't played it yet unfortunately.. How's the difficulty compared to JP? JP is hard as balls IMO and this looks like it might be the same toughness.
@@CaryHardy can that outlane be adjusted, it or is it always 100% Hellscape lol?. kinda noticed that in the streams. Debating on this game really hard.

Perhaps your most professional, polished video yet, Cary. Well done.
Please, do more of this reviews. Are very useful for future buyers.
Thanks.
Curious now that this video is 2 years old, what’s been changed?
Still like the game, but a great swap deal came up for a Jurassic Park. I like Jurassic Park more - so I swapped.
Sent you a picture of mine yesterday, bought it because of this review, excited to set it up today
Awesome review Cary!! Love the.editing! These videos keep getting better and better!
Proly the best machine I've played. TmnT sold me on a machine.....
Has any of the problems been updated since then. Like the balls getting stuck?sounds like a pain. One year later?? Tia.
Get Titan Pinballs to replace the standard Stern pinballs - then you should be good.

Cary does the steel etched X in the ramp not chip the balls over time?
I haven't heard any complaints about it yet. This isn't the first game to have etched images in a steel ramp.
LW3 'ok, ok, ok' is one of the best parts about the game; fight me on it.

You will get more out of TMNT. Unless you are a huge fan of the Halloween theme - I personally would choose TMNT over Halloween.

I play it at local arcade. I don't miss it because I can play it there now. Plus, the games I replaced it with are better.
Cool video, good job giving an overview that a pinhead would enjoy - nice details about gameplay, code, sounds etc.
Nice job Cary. Love the production values on this one. I can tell that you put a lot of effort into it. Good work!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent review and appreciated the tip to backhand the Lair shot. Also agree the krang shot is super satisfying!

I go over that in the video.

stack 2 flipper rubbers with a pinball in the center to block the out lanes. Game play increases by 50% , and multiball is EPIC

Take flipper rubber, wedge it in the exit lanes, game is 1,000,000 x more fun!!!
