I love Marrow, Maverick, Maggot (yeah, I know), Chamber, and so many other characters you mentioned who are in this. I know what happens to them, but I've never actually read these stories. I've never read a Tieri written comic either, but will soon change that. What really sold me was when you said BARRY WINDSOR-SMITH came back and drew a few pages in this! Apparently I am not a big enough BWS fan because I didn't know that. But then you have the (underrated) Sean Chen, John Paul Leon, and Tom (I'm-tired-of-this-book) Mandrake. I am sold, sir. I am so glad I watched this. Wonderful review!

I enjoyed your overview. You go into great detail in regards to what these collections include. I do have a question though not so much about Wolverine but in general about Marvel and to a lesser extent even DC. Do you think the main titles are going to reach a natural stopping point? If I use Wolverine as an example. Will there come a time where somebody is going to say that's it we've run out of stories to tell about Logan. We've made him old, stripped him of his adamantium, changed his timeline, cloned him, pitted him against almost the worst of the worst villains, killed him,ect. I mean they've done almost everything possible to him. Can these current characters go for another 50 years even? Wouldn't it be better to give these characters that have been around so long a break, and create new characters to build a legacy with. Maybe temporarily retire some characters. If after a certain cooling off period if writers have new and fresh things to say then bring them back. Will these characters even be relevant in another 50 years?
I love this question so much. For years I have always thought that DC was the one with a sense of legacy. For example we all knew that if Batman died (when he did several times) Dick Grayson would take up the mantle, or Tim Drake. But if Cyclops bit the dust...well. We didn't know about the stupid O5 back then. However, All New Wolverine has given me hope for a new sense of legacy at Marvel. I love that book so much. I'm not sure how much more stories you can tell about a guy with indestructible bones, but the again I'm sure they thought the same thing about a guy who runs really really fast. :)
I didn't even think to put All New Wolverine because I thought she was just a recycled female version of Logan. Marvel seemed to just be changing the gender/race of their mainline characters. When I said create new characters I should have specified not just changing their sex/race on current characters, but making new characters all together. DC and Marvel currently seem to want to keep status quo and rarely if ever invest time in making a all together new main character that could maybe take over from say Batman for instance and build a new universe with them. I only say this because I fear in 50 years when I'm gone will Batman, Wolverine, Flash...etc even mean anything to anyone by then. Or will those characters even exist or be remembered?
Great overview, but it helped me decide not to pick it up. I already own those Deadpool issues in omni and singles and I thought this book was more about Wolverine and Deadpool than it is. I also watched your overview of Wolverine Goes To Hell and that sold me on it. I wanted a new Wolverine book, so I think that's very much the way to go. I already have the Astonishing Spider-Man and Wolverine series in TPB, but all the other material is new to me and it looks. Thanks for helping me make a decision on which book to read. I think I may still pick this one up if still available later in the year when I have more disposable income. But with all the Conan coming, I doubt that'll happenn.
@@NearMintCondition ohh cool beans yeah. I actually preordered that book a month or so ago when I saw it listed, I read about half that series in singles when it was first coming out at the time. That was my first intro to Aaron on Wolverine and I loved his take on the character. I had only previously read him on Ghost Rider, which I loved and thought phenomenal compared to the Way run he took it over for, even if it strayed far from previous continuity of the Ketch era.

IMO frank tieri is one of the worst comic writers ever - he pays no respect to the history of the characters he writes, his dialogue is cringe AF, and like Garth Ennis, he seems like he genuinely hates super heroes and their fanboys. I'm still on the fence about buying this. I want to like all things Wolverine/weapon x, but I've never liked anything Tieri authors.

Weapon X is the original story that tells the origins of Wolverine's Adamantium.
