Why are people so critical! Of all the videos I've watched this is by far the best I've seen especially having a kid with multiple cowlicks! Thanks for posting this. Who the heck cares how she holds her comb!
After watching so many videos from professionals none of them made sense than this one, love the way she explained it and thank you so much for posting this, its very helpful!
I have been looking for this video for over a year. 😭 I watched it at the beginning of the pandemic to cut my boyfriends hair and it was the best I ever cut it. I didn’t save it and forgot what exactly I did the first time 😂 THANK YOU!
This Mom knew her boy was getting impatient. Let's go sqaure!! Thanks this video is super helpful. Yes the stylist took FOREVER but she was trying to be perfect and highly detailed. It's a win imo!
The girl that cut your son's hair did a great job! No idea who she is or where she works. You should have given her a shout out. She def deserved it... Willing to have you film her while she does a super informative video?? She was amazing. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed the vid!
Just building up the courage to try this on 13 yr old boy. Ordered some good quality hairdressing scissors, thinning scissors and comb. I have good clippers anyway, but scissors is all new territory!
Same I was going to give the family spring break haircuts. Didnt go as planned. Now were all shaggy lol next will be learning to dye my daughters hair.
@Jamie Hilling good question! I am not actually a hairstylist - I just happened to take a video of the lady who cuts my son's hair to try and help others. I know a fair amount about hair but my family's hair is all straight. I would think the bottom could be cut with clippers and the top probably not. Maybe others who are reading this comment can chime in. Sorry I wasn't more help 😔
I'm sorry I mis-read your comment. I thought it said, thick curly hair, ha ha. Thick hair is not impossible to cut with clippers! This boy has very thick hair in the video. But I do think the top needs to be cut with scissors if you want to achieve this cut.
ahh what a great hair cut! I'm a Dad of 2 little munchkins. my boy is 1.5, I cut his hair today for the 1st time. I think I did very very well. it was definitely a challenge working around his cowlick in the back but it seemed to workout as it got shorter. thank you so much. you ladies were such an amazing help! Cheers! Pete- Ontario Canada
Thanks for leaving a comment to let us know! Helping others makes it all worth it! Good luck with your hair cutting adventures, it will get easier with practice.
Excellent job! Nicely done! I'm a barber and children can be your most difficult clients. However if you do a good job you'll have a client for life! Once they become comfortable with you they won't go anywhere else.
We've been getting a lot of questions about the brand of clippers used in this video. Here's a link to them: amzn.to/2UL539V and there's also a link in the description of the clippers and Architexture pomade used to style this haircut. Scissors/Shears are hard to find right now, but Japanese shears are typically the best. Thank you so much to everyone for supporting our family channel and we hope you all are staying safe from COVID-19.
Having watched many haircuts videos, this one stands out as one of the best! Not only does this lady have impeccable skills, but she knows exactly how to explain the technique and point out the tips required for a proper DIY haircut at home. Thumbs up!
I just cut my sons hair today with the clippers but I definitely need to do the fade on top. He also has a lot of cowlicks so this was really helpful. Thank you for sharing!
Wish I had a dollar for every time the word "cowlick" was mentioned in this video !!! Jeez. The kid was SO good. No squirming, crying, just very cooperative.
Very good explanation. I love the way his hair look. Mom did a great job asking all the questions and showing everything and the lady did a great job explaining everything. Thank you for the video 😊
It's really a curse to have so many cowlicks. Luckily it's Corona and we don't have to go out much so we're not worrying about them much. Good luck with your son's haircut!
Yep definitely most informative. I've been doing the boys hair for a while. Never once have I watched a video of them explaining level functions. So thank you!
Hairdressers need not fear, this is too much work for someone who's not skilled doing it every day. I'll be back as soon as this lock down is over! Pray for my son and hubby. Lol 🙏✂️👦
Yes! It is much better to have a little experience before cutting hair for sure. We're working on a video for ultra-beginners at haircutting. The problem is they are required to wear masks at the salon... That doesn't make for a very good video. So we'll wait until that restriction is lifted and then we'll do that video 😊. Hope you are staying safe and healthy during this difficult time!
Thank you for this film, it was very informative and helpful. I've had to cut my 13 year old's hair due to the hairdressers being shut because of the coronavirus. I know my hairdresser said not to go near our hair but when he's not had a haircut since mid January (one appointment was cancelled because of illness and the other because of the lock down) I had to. It's not perfect but not bad for a first attempt. I think I'll stick to my day job but my son gave me 8/10 and said he liked it. Result 😁!!
Thank you for this my son has autism and has had 4 haircuts in his life (hes 5) so I guess one a year since he doesnt like anyone touching his hair and the buzzers freak him out especially with a stranger and each time he comes out bleeding. This was so helpful thank you.
More frequent haircuts may help get him more comfortable. But you do what works for you. Good luck! Also, if you have a Kid Snips store in your area, they usually have some staff that are great with special needs kids.
I'm making my husband watch this next time we cut our sons hair. He didn't want to when we cut it yesterday but it would have helped!! Our son has a cowlick in the top middle of his head...we have no idea how to tame it🤣😂 I think we are gunnna get him more use to haircuts before we use scissors.... He's 3 and we've cut his hair maybe 4 times... maybe only 3. Lol.. He only cooperated once🤣😂 This kid is model citizen!!!
My husband's and son's hair grow the exact same. Very straight, think and cow lick at the crown of their head. I've been cutting my husband's for years but he has been wanting to get closer to this style. My son is 11mos old and let me take clippers to his hair more than a week ago. But I kept it kinda long because he's a baby and with him standing I figured I could hide a mistake with going longer than shorter. Going to have to try this cut on him though. So cute
My son's and husband's are the same like yours. But my son's hair falls straight forward and flat to his head. It takes a lot of work and products to spike it and have it stay.
Thank you so much for making this video! I purchased a clippers set since salons are closed and this video gave me the knowledge to do an almost perfect job on my 2 year old’s hair.
Thanks for posting this video. I gave my husband and toddler haircuts this week and it turned out really well thanks to all the tips in your video. I found the blending techniques by Christel especially useful. Thank you so much! Take care and stay safe.
Thank you so much for this video! My little guy has similar cowlicks that make his hair stick up after barber trips adventures with his dad so I super appreciate seeing your friends techniques. ♥️
Have you tried letting him watch a show while you cut his hair so his attention is diverted? I know the sound of the clippers freaks some kids out. Maybe earplugs or headphones to help with that.
Don’t let him watch a show, that will deprive him from learning patience and respect for his adult years. Be a good parent and handle the problem. Not take the easy way out. Don’t be afraid to discipline in public, people see that as good parenting
@@spokesonwheels88 not all kids are the same. Many need additional supports and above all PATIENCE and LOVE from their parents. A 1920s "children should be seen and not heard" approach is very harmful to their development.
Yup! My toddler son gets freaked out by clippers and scissors too. Nothing wrong with making it a positive experience with a favorite show and a treat! Greatly helps his squirming so I don’t accidentally cut him ;)
Positively Mommy Thanks for your kind suggestion! 😊 oh I tried distracting with toys, with his favorite video TV programs, everything! Nothing works unfortunately.... even the noise of the “SNIP” of the scissors...! He’s generally well behaved and obeys me, he’s super patient for his age, but not when it comes to scissors/clippers LOL 😅 I hope to find a solution one day...!!

I have watched this video every time I have cut my seven year old's hair and love it. Thanks! Please, please tell me what kind of glasses she is wearing? They are super cute and go great with her hair.
Nice work as young always got my hair cut from Dad and sometimes at barber shop little older let me hair go long after a few years back and forth I started thinking about it and çut my own hair and I started cutting my son hair short fade,s now I'm cutting it longer for him fads really long on top I injoy all love cutting hair boys and girls it's amazing love it just did mine few hrs ago ty
Just remember it's pretty easy just cut hair the way it grows out just take your time coming it's before using your fingers as well then you see you fill good about it then you can start 😉 😁
This is the best video I been watching a lot of videos because I have 3 boys and right now with no barber open this one is the best one that explain step by step and I had no idea about the thing on the side that makes it 2 1/2 ... by the way good job for the little boy
So glad it went well for you! I'm so happy we can provide even a little service on our channel during quarentine. Thanks for leaving a comment, it means a lot ❤️
I just tried this. Not exactly perfect but there's no way I can leave my sons hair till the barbers open up again..... Its too thick lol practice makes perfect haha x
I was in the same boat when I first did my boys hair a couple of years ago. Refreshing my skills due to the pandemic. The key to at home hair cutting is just to use all the guards until it’s blended on the side. Use the half step at the fade line, then run a number 5 or 6 on the top. Turns out pretty good!
Here trying to learn how to cut my 11 year old's hair since barber shops are closed due to the virus. I just colored a piece of his hair blue just to give his growing hair some flavor. I have to learn or I don't know what else I'll do to his hair next, lol.
Haha every time! They don't have the skill to do what you asked for, so they immediately disregard your instructions or the photo you brought in, they commandeer your hair and act like that's what they thought you meant, or they say your hair can't do what you asked them to do to it, and they talk about how great you look.
Osric Wolfing so true. “This picture you brought in does this, but...” *immediately proceeds to do a completely different cut. This kid’s hair looks good, but it’s not what they wanted. My advice, be willing to spend more money and get the cut you want. Better yet, spend more money and get a real professional that can consult you on your face shape, head size, and hair type and give you recommendations that would suit you because not everything that looks good in a picture will work on your head. So hard to find a quality barber these days
@@MrLocke-bk3om You're a guy but as a woman where would one find such a place. I'd love a consultation and would gladly pay good money for it. Now I have my sister in-law cut my hair since it grows so much faster and falls out way less. She has a good hand. Kinda like how people have green thumbs for plants, she has for hair :)
Great video, Covid19 has bought me here, both my son and I need a haircut so thought I’ll give it a go but before that get some tips, if it horribly goes wrong then a complete shave 😁
Positively Mommy true! I just have to wait for a month or more because Amazon.ca does not classify it as essential, haha. But, maybe they will somehow, with luck, show up earlier :-)

Good luck you'll do great!
I have watched this video every time I have cut my seven year old's hair and love it. Thanks! Please, please tell me what kind of glasses she is wearing? They are super cute and go great with her hair.
Oh thank you for leaving a comment. This makes me feel very happy!!! She doesn't know which type of glasses as she has different ones now

That is awesome!
Just remember it's pretty easy just cut hair the way it grows out just take your time coming it's before using your fingers as well then you see you fill good about it then you can start 😉 😁
Watching this so I can do my husband’s hair this weekend! He doesn’t like any parts in his hair and has cowlicks so this is a very helpful video!
This is the perfect haircut for not parting. Good luck cutting his hair. Let us know how it goes!
I plan to cut my kid's hair. this is good lesson for me haha. 🥰
Good luck, you'll do great!
This hair stylist is great!!
Just managed to cut my sons hair, he looks handsome, thanks to these video
Very informative. I cut my boyfriend hair after watching this and he’s happy:-)
I don't know who was better her or him lol! He sat so perfectly!
Good to know so every parent learn how to cut their hair.
Ive never seen a professional do this without a comb but its very good for home haircuts
I just tried this. Not exactly perfect but there's no way I can leave my sons hair till the barbers open up again..... Its too thick lol practice makes perfect haha x
I'm so glad it was helpful for you. I think next time will be a lot easier 😊
@@bhoff82 thank you for your input. We love hearing from people and so glad you're practicing and finding success!
Your are truly amazing! So patient and calm and so detailed. Thank you. My grandson has a cowlick like no other. Lol.❤❤
Glad it was helpful!
Question. You said that you could take a 2 all the way up. But do i take a 2 even up to the cowlick? Ty
I’m doing this for my little brother, hope that I don’t miss this up for him 😬 it’s my first time cutting someone’s hair
Wow what a nice sister!
She did a great job blending the back of his hair. I need to invest in some shears.
Thank you for sharing. It’s time to tidy my boys
You're welcome! Thanks for posting a comment 😊
Here trying to learn how to cut my 11 year old's hair since barber shops are closed due to the virus. I just colored a piece of his hair blue just to give his growing hair some flavor. I have to learn or I don't know what else I'll do to his hair next, lol.
Best of luck to you and the haircut. Stay healthy!
Hey same here lol im scared to take him outside 😒
Here cause my 18 year old boyfriend really wants a haircut
THANK YOU MY LOVE
I'm so glad it was helpful for you!

Best of luck! You'll do great!
This was so incredibly helpful! Thank you. Also Tyler is a rockstar. 💫
So glad it was useful! We think he is too! Stay safe and healthy
Very useful Thankyou very much
I love when you ask for a certain style, and the stylist does whatever they want instead
@@MrLocke-bk3om
You're a guy but as a woman where would one find such a place.
Let us know how it goes! Good luck and stay safe and healthy
Thanks for the video! It helps, but I’m wondering about what to do if we don’t have scissors for the top?
You can get some on Amazon for $15
Positively Mommy true! I just have to wait for a month or more because Amazon.ca does not classify it as essential, haha.
But, maybe they will somehow, with luck, show up earlier :-)
@@ud4276 Oh darn, yeah, I see what you're saying. Maybe order from a different website. I have had Amazon items that are non-essential show up a lot earlier than stated. So good luck, I hope you get them soon!
@@TheCheapFamily Sorry I was logged into the wrong channel when I wrote that 😬
Cutest little boy ever !
Thanks! We think so!
This is exactly the style I go for! Thanks for the 'how to' guide. Time to get the clippers out. Gulp!
Are you cutting your own hair? I'm impressed!
Thank you so much for your video.
It help me so much . With your steps I did a decent job.
Thank you for letting to know! Congrats on doing a fantastic haircut
Tyler is very handsome, what a good lad. Not sure my 5 year old boy will sit still for that long, but I'm going to give this haircutting thing a go!
Good luck! Let us know how it goes!
Now that we're on lockdown in NYC/LI 😭😭😭😭 this video is going to be so helpful for my 7 and 4 yr old boys. They have similar hair. Thank you for posting.
