This is an example of "every genre of metal was created by Sabbath."
so true
Sabbath are metal gods!!!
Stoner metal, doom metal, sludge metal, thrash metal, metal, metal, punk?
@@dr.juerdotitsgo5119how about deep purple 😂😂 that’s why there’s the trinity Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, and deep purple but yeah probably your right 😂
You’re not allowed to stop the marathon until you’ve done CHILDREN OF THE GRAVE 😜🤘🏻
C.J. Peri-Peri, THEY GOTTA
YES!!!
And electric funeral
No Shiznitt. Hands down !!!!!!!!
Hopefully the next generation will heed Ozzy's words. Still so relevant today.
"Revolution in their minds the children start to march
Against the world in which they have to live
And all the hate that's in their hearts
They're tired of being pushed around
And told just what to do
They'll fight the world until they've won
And love comes flowing through, yeah
Children of tomorrow live in the tears that fall today
Will the sun rise up tomorrow bringing peace in any way?
Must the world live in the shadow of atomic fear?
Can they win the fight for peace or will they disappear, yeah
So you children of the world
Listen to what I say
If you want a better place to live in
Spread the words today
Show the world that love is still alive you must be brave
Or you children of today are children of the grave, yeah"
When you buy a Sabbath album, you get 8 tracks. But in reality, you get 16.
Sometimes, even 20.
Too much studio time in this one.
@@MrRckstdy77 but thats a good thing it is pure megalomania ;)
If not 24 😂
4 to 5 riffs per song. 🎸
Bill Ward beat those drums like the owed him money.
You pretty much summed up Bill Ward perfectly
Be never once Did it live
Well said, amazing drummer.
Excellent comment. I always say regarding War Pigs on the Live In Paris video: He plays like his life depends on it.
It's always been my favorite way
Bill Ward was arrested after recording for committing unnatural acts on his drum kit.
LOL right on.
Im eating, laughed hard, almost died.
And he was reported by Keith Moon!
That quote about riffs was from Rob Zombie :) He said "Every riff that's ever been written, Black Sabbath already wrote it. Everyone else is just playing it slightly faster, or slightly slower, or backwards, or changing it a little bit".
I love Sabbath, but he's very wrong.
I think even he would admit that it's an over-simplification, intended to be a statement on their influence rather than a literal fact :)
I was wondering who said that? Makes since thought, Rob seems, to me, to be the kind of guy to recognize real.
Everything leads back to Black Sabbath if you listen closely they are gods in the genre
I see a man of culture.... From Sam Dunn's Heavy- The Story of Metal.
No one at this time sounded like this. Master song writing.
Yup and he compared metallica to these Sabbath, metallica is poo in my opinion.
@@knatocommander7673 Metallica are incredible, but Sabbath are metal Gods! so pretty much everyone sucks compared to them.
@@knatocommander7673 Without Metallica, modern metal would not exist. Every single metal band in existence today lists them as a primary influence.
Ryan calling Bill Ward “Mr. Ward”>>>>>>
“First metal band happened to just do everything”.
“And do it well”
Couldn’t say it better. It’s very awesome and frustrating at the same time lol
I’ve been saying for years that Black Sabbath wrote all the cool riffs before the 70s were over. Every metal song you hear now is just a reworking of what Sabbath did.
@@flightgravity7483 Where's the fun in thinking that though? What's the point of then listening to the millions of metal music if it feels to you like it's just a rework of someone else?
Ritchie Blackmore, yeah sure...
Sweet N Savery I’m not saying it negatively. Black Sabbath’s influence in the metal genre is undeniable. I still love tons of other bands.
Sweet N Savery
You must not be a musician and tried to write a riff that couldn’t in some way or another been done on a Sabbath album. My point, and I’m sure lost in Vegas point, is that they did this when no one else did and well before anyone else. Which can be frustrating because you can’t escape the feeling “this has been done before”.
Not that he doesn't get love, but I feel like Bill Ward doesn't get enough recognition for how great of a drummer he was.
Besides John Bonham from Zeppelin Bill Ward was my idol as a drummer growing up! His style was so funky and unique to me... So underrated!
He gets a lot of recognition
@@TheExtremeCube He does from musicians, but he's not the household name he should be.
@@Chris-pw7ov he gets a lot of recognition among metal fans I believe, but idk why a housewife named jenny who's folding her sons t shirts should know about him

The end of this song is pure perfection 🙌🙌🤘🙌🤘🙌🙌🤘
This song is so damn intense...then it calms to bliss at the end. One of Black Sabbaths best songs. Ozzie's voice is so powerful in this song!! Lyrics are fantastic. What can I say...Love it. Grew up loving this group. Defined the seventies.
Agreed. I think Ozzy's voice is underrated. He could really sing when he wanted to, especially in his early years. He was capable of a real powerful bluesy, gritty sound
@@supertrexandroidx Hell yes. I'd say that maybe my favourite rock singer over all vould be Ronnie James Dio (RIP) because of his amazing range and amazing voice. But Ozzy is so damn underrated during the 70s era. I think his performance at the Live In Paris 1970 shows how great and uderrated he really was, and perfectly suited The Sabs during the 70s.
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath has the meanest riff of all Black Sabbath.
One last one, since you haven't touched the album yet.
In my opinion they should react to that song and maybe something off "13," as well.
It is one of their coolest riffs

Ozzy’s voice in this song is exactly how it should be. It’s kind of a raw “thrashy” type song.
This song basically invented Thrash metal... all the guys in Metallica were HUGE Sabbath fans. This was their inspiration for a lot of their sound.
@@VespoLiveGaming Children of the Grave must have been an influence on Metallica as well. The main riff especially.

They created a genre. At the time there was nothing with this sound, as in their first album.

This is probably my favorite Sabbath album. Doesn’t get talked about enough. It really takes you on a journey in the same way that Pink Floyd does, albeit in a different style.
so true. I get what you mean. they have the same kind of depth and subtle complexity as Floyd. It is just a completely different style.
It's 100% my favorite Sabbath record. So many killer gems on this one: Megalomania, Thrill of it All, The Writ... it's gold from start to finish. Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is up there for me too
Children of Grave and Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. Those are essential Black Sabbath songs, guys :)
"A NATIONAL ACROBAT" OFF OF SABBATH BLOODY SABBATH!
"A National Acrobat" must be a part of any Black Sabbath marathon. The heaviest song of all time in my opinion
I am from Brazil and not very old (33 years old). I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to watch Black Sabbath live two times, even if they weren't in their best shape (Bill Ward not present). I cried the first time I listened to "Black Sabbath" live. True legends that my father taught me to enjoy since I was a little kid.
Alice in chains, Pantera or 80s Metallica Marathon!!
i can get behind Pantera and 80s Metallica, but not an Alice In Chains fan
Theyve reacted to most AiC classics like Rooster, Man in the Box, Them Bones, Would....
They'll never react to Pantera again probably after realizing they where white supremacists, and I don't blame them.
Supertaldo916 They weren’t white supremesists. Where did you get your information? There were some false rumors about Phil Anselmo at one point, but they turned out to be absolutely wrong. Don’t be posting shit like that unless you have facts to back it up.
Supertaldo916 Your wrong. Even the lyrics are anti racist. Just because there’s a white guy with a shaved head being aggressive doesn’t mean he’s racist.
From Rise:
Every creed and every kind
To give us depth for strength
Taught when we're young to hate one another
It's time to have a new reign of power
Make pride universal so no one gives in
Turn our backs on those who oppose
Then when confronted we ask them the question
That's wrong with their mind?
What's wrong with your mind? …
Sepultura does a great cover of this song. They take it to a more extremely thrashy level.
I was going to suggest that too! 🤘🏻

I love how, over time, you two have listened to enough metal music to be able to form opinion based on knowledge that you have gained from listening to, and learning about various types of metal. That being said, you two need to stop thinking that we, as metal heads, think your opinions have less validity than any of us life long metal heads. It seems at time as if you are only one step removed from apologizing for your opinions. Most of us are here because we liked to hear an outside view of the music we grew up with. Now we are here to listen to the valid opinions of fellow knowledgeable metal fans. You have more than earned the right to your opinions regaurdless if other metal heads agree with you. I'm old, I grew up listening to this with head phones on high as I could be on 8 track tape. Sabbath was my band, my top band out of the many great ones of the time. I got to see them in 78 before Ozzy left them and I stood right next to the stage 10 feet from Tony, my god. Great memories for sure. I haven’t seen a reaction to ‘Sabbath, Bloody Sabbath’ and, I believe George just said you haven’t done it. That is the epitome of a Sabbath song - the main riff, the drums, the bass and Ozzy! One of the best metal songs ever and such heaviness at the end! Don’t stop short of at least that one!

As a 40 year Sabbath fan any negative vibes will never get me away from announcing that Sabbath are the true kings of metal and will always be a true inspiration to budding musicians
Ozzy is wild and at the top of his game in the verses and it fits perfectly, it's all about how the hard and soft parts come together. Dynamics. Light and shade.

Something about the jazzy breakdown at the end: I'd say that was Tony Iommi's tribute to one of his guitar heroes, Django Reinhardt. Django was a Belgian jazz guitarist from the 1930s. He is known as the originator of "gypsy jazz."
It was hearing Django that influenced Tony to pick up the guitar again after the accident that severed Tony's fingers. Django also only had two fingers to play with (due to a burn injury).
Years ago, I was listening to a jazz station late at night, and heard a guitarist that reminded me of Tony. After the song finished, the DJ said it was Django. He definitely had a HUGE influence on him.

Black Sabbath just finished their final tour about 3 years ago. They did an amazing final concert though, Ozzy's voice isn't completely there, and they had a different drummer that was more traditional heavy metal sounding and more straightforward than Bill Wards drumming. According to Iommi, the Sabotage sessions were the scene of a legendary jam session between Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin.[4] Iommi's recollection may be inaccurate, however, as records show that Zeppelin were on tour in the US at the time Sabotage was being recorded. Ward's recollection of the exact timing of the Zeppelin jam session is also fuzzy. "I don't even know what album we were working on", the drummer explained. I know not everyone agrees and I understand (Sabbath's first 6 albums are simply INSANE, so good that you spend a lifetime deciding which one is the best), but for me it's the best, top 3 along with Paranoid and Vol 4, and without a doubt my favorite. Ahead of time, no bad track FROM START TO END. Black Sabbath are the greatest.
