- Our forward stride changes from quick to long, powerful and explosive as we move from 0mph to high speeds. We need to accelerate like the way a car moves through their gears. This guy doesn’t understand the internal combustion engine, but seems like a good hockey coach
Your pistons don't shoot up through the block in 3rd gear?
External combustion bro
That's what I was thinking, but it probably works well when you're talking to a bunch of 8-year-olds.
@@whattheschmidt If you grab 3rd from the top of 4th, they most certainly will. 🤣💥💀
external not internal
I wish everybody had a coach like this growing up!
Beast of a coach
Getting back into hockey love the videos wish I knew you made these when I was a kid and played
I just got into hockey and I'm 35 lol. Never had enough money to start then life happened...now I live next to a free rink. I'm excited.
@@SamClarkschannel badass bro. I played hockey in bantam, then HS. Got on a mens league at age 31, played for 5 years after taking such a long break. If anything, its just fun to be out there.
@@SamClarkschannel A free rink? What even is that????
gonna join hockey, and have my first lesson this saturday, i cant stop watching these videos, but now my standards of a coach are really high, really hope the coach there is the same as this
Well? One year or so later, hows it going?
Got my first time on the ice today and it was awesome this i can do everyday 😊
What is your sound setup? Sound is great. When I'm on ice I can't understand what people are yelling because of the echo.
Better analogy that shows the same thing: Gears on a bike. big gear = lots of little pedal rotations to go a little bit of distance easier / faster. Once you have momentum you switch and go to the gear that requires less 'quick' movement (pedaling) but more powerful / bigger motion.
First time I've seen coach winded. Dude is awesome!
That Chael kid can really skate fast. Sean your teaching is getting good results.
Advanced and creative level of teaching exercises using game elements. Children listen and parents too :)
Great video Sean!
Pro NHL players are awesome ,👏 like gods on skates 🥅!
But none of their amazing hockey skills can equal to Sean’s teaching/communication abilities…
It takes something special, something innate, to be a good teacher 👨🏻🏫… I should know, I’ve been doing it for almost 20years!
😂
Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Transmission changes gears, not pistons
He didn't take auto shop in highschool. We will forgive him. Lol. Piston stroke is the same length all the time.
If you map out piston movement vs. road distance traveled, you can make his analogy work. The piston doesnt move more, but each rotation gets amplified by the transmission which achieves the same effect. Anyways, combustion engines are ancient history for those kids.
One could improve the acoustic properties of that rink by hanging banners suspended from the ceiling rafters, such that they are decorative and absorb sound. Focus on areas at a 45 degree angle to the corners to start. Imagine wave reflections in a pool and how to absorb those waves by suspending banners in areas with the most reflections. /sponsors / awards / promotional banners /teams / flags, etc.. If the whole design is though out, symmetry and other visual factors would make it look professionally done...
don’t think there’s any real point to that
@@ImineResveratrol Artwork that also reduces echo... would make team communication easier, and music over the PA sound better.
@@thetruthserum2816 yeah i feel like the only real point to it is artwork. i don’t think anyone is having problems with lack of communication/too much echo. plus, how much would banners on the ceiling really help? especially in the middle of the game when everyone is screaming anyway
0:21 to 0:33 LMAO!😂😂😂
Oof ouch owie the engine metaphor
👍👍👍
I can take him.
👍 👍 👍!!!
Sean, I got a question about skates: it's necessary to upgrade to Bauer hyperlight if i already own a Bauer 2X pro skates ? it's big difference? I play 2-3 times a week. thank you.
hell no
skill is infinitely more important than gear, go and do sprints outside, get a speed ladder get more core strength
Yo basically have hyper lights but not as light
No. Bauer just add more and more fake features to make them sell. If your skates fit, and are still solid, keep them.
Amazing! Come and perform in Russia please!
yeah maybe dont use engines as a n example..... piston travel doesnt get any longer it cant
Thanks tips. I’m sure all those Atom/PeeWee kids were thinking the same thing…. You could instead interpret it as a great example of high RPM’s out of the hole followed by explosive strides or an engine under high load. Save your comments until you can post a video of skating like this guy.
@@alexmurray8400 I can't skate like this guy, but I can confirm that he doesn't know how engines work.
Пушка!
Блин ничего не понял
need u as my coach lol, i suck and im 15, trying to get better, I cant keep up with other players, I'm so slow :(, I suck as well, I just have good hockey IQ, my shot isn't bad, but pretty bad XD, I am a playmaker for sure, decent passing, again horrible skating.
Do you run at all? Like go outside and do some sprints! Work on that raw explosiveness, you don't need to be on the ice to improve your game.
@@shikaku2827 nope, dont go outside XD
@@AKAKATTACK_YT then you should start doing so! Go at the park and start running, get those legs movin
Change your mindset. You don't suck, you just aren't where you want to be. I bet you are better than you were! If you don't want to go outside, find ways to get better inside. Build your own slide board, look into improving strength, and mobility. I wish RUclips was around when I was 15. So much knowledge available for free!
@@natebrks haha, thx :)
Hunter is still puking in the shower
Your intro is interesting if a bit odd. You’re telling children who know nothing about cars how pistons work... or what a piston even is. It kind of confused me and I’ve been playing hockey for 40 years... You gotta chill out man!
