I love that you still have your first copy of Pet Sematary. I understand the feeling. I kept my old Signet paperback of Misery from 1998 that was not only my first King read, but I was 18, moved away and got my first apartment and rode the train a lot. This book always traveled with me and holding it reminds me of all the fun and friends I had back then. (My favorite SK book is Needful Things. What a blast to read!)

An excellent list! I love Needful Things and feel that it is one of the more underrated King novels. The Shining book and film are so different, and yet both are true horror classics, in my humble opinion. The Stand is my favorite King book. Did you know Stephen King was in two minds about releasing Pet Sematary, he felt it was just too dark. Now you are talking my language, The Waste Lands is also my favorite in the series., for all the reasons you mentioned. 11/22/63 is such a wonderful novel and one of my top reads of 2023. 11/22/63...I finished reading it last night. So good, I tried to make it last longer, it was that good. I left it at home, then went on vacation and at the airport I bought 'Fairy Tale' and loved it too. But the thing that got me for 11/22/63 is that I felt that King was telling the story of my life, and that of my family. I know it sounds strange, even too strange to believe. I can't go into all of it here, but my Great Uncle (David Smith) was a Captain for White Star steamship lines, and while in Egypt in 1923, he was presented a stone from a tomb that had just been unearthed. The stone was a 'trinket', but presented to him by the Head of State at that time. I believe that the stone is a time travel device, that he used to travel back 11 years, to stop a tragedy, and to clear his name. But the butterfly effect was worse, so he went back and ultimately, had to let it happen. I inherited that stone, in 1970, when I was 12 years old. I have had many encounters and experiences that I do believe have been influenced by the device. Too many to list. I have collected small items from these events and encounters, that won't be noticed. Some from the most infamous locations and events, but some from positive meetings with heroes of mine.
