- 2006, North Shore Music Theatre production of Beauty and the beast. I played the beast in this show and this was my main song that I sung. This was performed at the Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand. Costumes and staging all done by Peter Jacksons Weta Design
Your approach is different and I love it. Not only is there pain and anguish but the regret of lost and wasted years comes through strongly. Bravo.
Awwww that's lovely. Also the prosthetics were easier to sing through than alot of masks I've heard others have to use

Have seen this show a number of times, from when my son was in Disneys UK Tour in 2008 to only last month when I saw the current UK tour..and I've got to say that hands down, this is the best performance of this song I have seen...I realise it was recorded a few years back in NZ but great memories I guess...

This beast looks like a great beast when the song starts especially when he seen belle in my opinion he looks like lion made but whoever did this performance really has great sense of humor to the character of the beast

Did you pitch shift or sped it up?
This is the most emotional version I have seen to date, with all that make up and having to sing, it can be hard to emote, but you nailed it. A lot of versions I've seen of this, they're focusing so hard on hitting the notes that they seem kind of emotionless, so while it sounds good, it doesn't really pull you in, but not you. Bravo!

I'm not a fan of a voice full of vibrato, but you have one of those rare ones (to me) where there's so much emotion it eclipses any fault anyone could find in the performance. My one scrutiny (not vocal) would be that you putting your leg up on the balcony edge at the end there was pretty distracting and didn't fit with everything else you had done so far, and that's minor! I can't believe I hadn't noticed your performance before, considering I've seen Beauty and the Beast on stage a few times and often look the clips up. What a great job. Very envious of your talent.

@@timothybordelon392 no mate. Was a built in hunchback inside the coat and the material was really heavy that it was made out of. The headpiece probably weighed more though

im playing this part myself down in gisborne this year. quite a big role, trying to find the perfect blend between passion and musical accuracy.. i tend to lean toward ramin karimloos portrayl of Phantom. excellent performance!
Well done on getting the role mate. It's a huge part, and I for one loved the. This is over ten years old this clip. Take all the inspiration you can from every performance you see but still make the role your own.......I'm sure you'll be awesome. Do you know what set you are getting?

How did you train to audition for the beast and how did you build your lung capacity for the last note because I am about to audition for beauty and the beast for my high school theater.
Hey mate. I've been a swimmer most of my younger years so have always had good breath support. I'm not trained as a singer though. It was tough to sound clean though when I was growling most of the show. Just repetition mainly.
So mostly repetition exercise. Any more advice on how to train for the audition for the beast
