Yes! My 12 shoots low too. Try not putting your cheek so close to the stock. Just casually bring it up to your face and try not to focus on the bead so much.
Good to know! I am thinking about one from Henry in 12 ga as if I need another gun and the main draw was interchangeable chokes and rifle sights!!! I have other guns I would turkey hunt with but I do, do a lot of small game getting, especially squirrel not to mention raiders in the garden or chicken coop at night! With adjustable sights and interchangeable chokes, it should cover a lot of bases well.
Hi Mary, one years old and when I was growing up, I had a single shot 16 gauge shotgun. I never thought of it happen to get another type of shotgun right now I hunt my squirrels and rabbits with my single shot 20 gauge shotgun. I’m going to get a 12 gauge I have other shotguns but I always grab my single shot, easy to clean light to carry and it does the job
KEEP! I have an old Topper 88 in 12 gauge missing the last 4 inches of the barrel, hence no choke, that I have not only kept but invested some money into that I bought lightly used for 60.00 originally as a Teen. I have several 8-12 inch barrel inserts for it, 20 ga, 9mm and 22lr etc... I am thinking about replacing it with a Henry Turkey in 12 gauge due to the 2 3/4 to 3 1/2-inch chamber, interchangeable chokes available and rifle sights as my "survival/homestead" gun despite the fact that Henry is pretty proud of that model.
Not sure if you can help me or not, but i have the stevens 301 12 gauge as well, i have the modified choke that came with it, a Carlson's full choke(winchoke) and just picked up a mossberg accuchoke improved cylinder choke, it says mossberg accuchokes work with the stevens 301, but when i screw the choke in, it still sticks out maybe 1/8 of an inch out of the muzzle. Is it still safe to shoot out of it?
I would check that the choke doesn't leave a gap inside the barrel, if there is, the load can damage the edge of the choke and any barrel threads exposed. As long as the inside of the barrel is flush with the inside portion of the choke the barrel will be protected. I have had chokes get tight before they seated, usually I'll back them out, spray the choke and barrel threads with some Rem Oil to remove any debris and try again. There are some chokes that are designed to stick out, but from my experience it's pretty obvious they are supposed too.
@citizenpew I didn't use rem oil but I did use a gun cleaner/oil on the threads of the choke tube and barrel threads and cleaned everything up. I'll check to see if there is a gap
I've seen those, thought about trying one for fun, but dang they're not cheap. You bought 6! That's dropping some money. I take it they work well if you have six.
I'd keep it. They don't cost very much, 200-ish? Slap some chamber adapter inserts and play around with 20, 28, and 410s. Add some weight to dampen the 12ga recoil?
I noticed that some types of rounds it won’t eject and others it will.. But if you don’t have a single shot then keep it, if you do and are not worried pass it along.
I Modded mine. Remove the butt pad. Inside the stock you'll find 3 "chambers" . Center is where the bolt to mount it is located. Leave it be. There is one above, and one below it. I added a mixed of diluted woodworkers glue, and #6 Shot in there in layers to allow the glue to dry before adding more. ( too much too thick and the glue cannot dry) Add some, let dry, repeat until it's near filled up. I stopped adding when it was balanced at the trigger guard. Came to about an extra lb or so. Replace butt pad, add limbsaver.. and enjoy.
Had one... ended up selling it...this thing is feather light & kicks way too hard on me to the point where I couldn't handle. One thing i like is that this gun patterns VERY, VERY WELL. Definitely keep it as a turkey slayer.
Sorry but anybody that shoots a gun like it’s still 1850, probably can’t speak on if it’s a “keeper” they’re all keepers. Don’t like the recoil? a 20 or 410 might be more your speed. It’s not a breakover, it’s called break action. Commentary is unnecessary. Finger on the trigger before the gun is shouldered. Forgot to cock the hammer. 1/5 with slugs at 100 yards. I will not be taking your review seriously
That thing doesn't need to go in a safe does it? I would hide that somewhere handy... Put a shell carrier on the stock...
Keep. Ive got the 301 20 gauge and i love it!
I would never get rid of that 12 gauge. I have a NEF 20 Gauge and its like my right arm. I love that design 👍
I have 2 of them. Great little gun. I am 76 and I appreciate the light weight for carrying around
Hey I have the Stevens set 301 410/20/12 I love them I also have the turkey 410 in camo I love them.one thing I've found they all shoot low.

Figure which single you shoot best and keep that one.

You don't get rid of guns!!!
Buy another safe...
lol, I know right, but I already have 4 safes. That's alright though, hopefully soon I'll be building a vault.
@@citizenpew 4 Safes... Hell.. u need more guns.... Those are amateur #'s.... Ur gonna have to bump those up!
lol, I know right! Anyone who isn't their FFL's number one buy is wrong...
@citizenpew It's a handy lil single shot bud, I hope u keep and buy some adapters for sub calibers for the kids. God Bless u and urs
@@citizenpewonly 4?
I noticed that some types of rounds it won’t eject and others it will..
But if you don’t have a single shot then keep it, if you do and are not worried pass it along.
Keep it, put a limbsaver on it to lessen that felt recoil, and see if it can be drilled and tapped for an optics mount. That is what,I would do.

Been shooting since I was an early teen. Certainly am not a teen anymore. Never sold a gun I’d bought.
KEEPER!
KEEPER

It definitely is light, and the narrow foregrip makes it difficult to hold onto when shooting heavy loads.
Your hands are too big
Keep it! Need more room buy another safe!
My Love
I'll take it if you don't want it anymore.....JS
If you don't want it I would definitely buy it from you
I suspect that this gun is going to be a modern classic. You may regret getting rid of it.
That’s a keeper, store it under the back seat ..
mini shells..
I think you need more room. That's the solution
lol, I definitely need a vault, a vault would solve so many storage issues.
WTH. Keep it.
Gobble gobble

just buy another gun safe
Embarrassing
Keeper, Actually better than USA made clones.
IT'S APPEAL LIES IN IT'S SIMPLICITY! AS FAR AS QUALITY FOR THE PRICE. HARD IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT!
I just came to see what a “breakover” is, since the term doesn’t exist. I think you mean break open or break action.
