I like Badger-Ray too, but for a different reason and in a different context. In Brawl it can be exceedingly funny to go Oil Rays, backed by Badgers against Fang / Mustang spam. It's not always easy to get right, but very few people see it coming and it's hilarious if it works out.
Only threat to the rays was phoenix, which could end up outranging them by 100, but cloak protects from getting sniped a lot of the time. Also with ranged badgers, they will move behind the rays and the rays will be easier to snipe.
