I think flag’s death impacted the audience more then expected because this script humanized him so much more then the other film ever did
Exactly. He was no longer the walk talking cliche Soldier that he was in the last one. He felt like an actual human just like in comics.

And Joel Kinnamon actually did a good job in this. He's usually a terrible actor but he was half way competent in this. James Gunn really is an actor's director.
This movie's biggest plot twist was that the movie was actually damn good.

Random bit of character revelation (can't exactly call it character DEVELOPMENT) tossed in there. Gunn likes to throw in some feels sometimes (though I don't remember any in Slither), but that was a bit too late in the film to matter.
That actually made me sad in the film. The Starfish was just living its life among the stars, and then the Americans just stick it in a big tank for years.
@@Kris_AB I mean the details were there the whole time. Starro was kidnapped, experimented on, and tortured. Locked away for decades by madmen, and The Thinker was all too proud of whatever he did to the creature. That was just saying it out loud.

@z3n034 that's my biggest gripe with the film. Starro was killed for protecting himself and getting some revenge. It's tragic...which was probably the point of his character.
Maybe if his first reaction to freedom wasn’t mass enslavement, death, and destruction, then maybe they would have brought him back.

@@VanillaBearMD3 animated versions have mostly always been close to the comic book feel though. This one for me is the first live action comic book film with the comic book feel to it

The line is sadly ruined by this version of Starro not taking over people in an easily reversible manner, but turning them into walking corpses. He killed at least hundreds of innocents, quite likely thousands.
He was happy, but when the astronauts let him aboard he killed them all and didn't leave? Yeah nah. That was Starro reminiscing over something it took for granted, after decades of torture.
I have to admit that was a good line. Didn’t fit with the rest of the movie
The only true victim is the grammar nazi finding this post and having their head explode like Savant
I also imagined Stallone in a sound booth making the forced laughter. Had me cracking up.

Just like this movie, really.
I was expecting the film to be a lot goofier and dumber than it was, the jokes are there and they are good but they are grounded in a genuinely solid movie. It maybe wasn't Guardians great but I would happily rewatch it several times without getting bored. There's a lot of heart and it deserves to do better than it has so far
I actually liked it more than Guardians because I got more involved with the characters. And that's despite thinking guardians is just a great movie, but I prefer the character arcs in this one.
@@Arkayjiya Personally, I'd say it doesn't measure up to GotG Vol1, partly because the (intentional) similarities make this feel very familiar at points, but it's better than GotG Vol2, which failed to recapture the stuff that made the first film work so well. Still: easily DC's best film so far -- the only one that's genuinely entertaining from start to finish.

Polka Dot man is apparently the 6th role from David dastmalchian super hero movies. after being henchmen of joker in dark knight, abra kadabra in flash, Kurt in Ant-Man, calender man in Batman : long Halloween, and penguin in Batman : long Halloween 2...
Alright, but this was definitely one of the best comic book movies to come out in a long time.
Its kinda subtle, but the reason Rat-catcher is so sleepy is because she's dreaming of being under a blanket of rats with her father. In the bus she states that this is one of her fondest memories.
I think she has sleep insomnia.

Yoo the starfish is not an aquatic creature. It's a terrestrial alien from different planet. Actually in new 52 comics, he is a humanoid alien who controls these huge kaijus called starro.
