When i was young i always thought that playing as the witch would have be so cool but now thinking it well its so dumb xD
i mean, you can either position yourself in a dark corner or wander around. you can not attack, jump or climb until disturbed and when disturbed you can only attack the person who disturbed you. if you do not attack the person that disturbed you in a span of... say 10 seconds, then you will be unable to attack and vulnerable to every survivor. you need to run away to prevent from being killed and after you are out of sight of the survivors then you will go back into the crying state. that's how valve should've made it. it'd be pretty simple.
edit: also it would be something like the tank, it'd say: You are becoming the witch.
They would have to either nerf the Witch so where a player-controlled Witch can’t one-shot a Survivor, or heavily-limit a player Witch’s movement. Perhaps have a ‘stamina’ bar for the player Witch’s movement. It drains when the player Witch moves, and standing still refills it, and sitting down refills it slightly faster. Because a Witch that can one-shot, move freely, and be player-controlled is unbalanced.

a playable Witch in the game is literally the most OP thing, because hitting a survivor 1 time can knock them down and considering that you are able to control the Witch, you can literally wipe out the entire survivor team
i think a better concept is like u play as witch and knock one guy down and u immediately lose controll of the witch
They can prolly also one shot you if they shoot you in the stomach all at once with shotguns
i mean, they couldve just made it so you could only target the specific person who startled you
not really, the survivors have to startle the witch first
@@particely Like you said, they could make her work just like the other infected, you get locked onto the first survivor you hit. I think they removed the witch because it wouldnt play out as nicely with a player controlling her. It would be a cheap, surefire way to get a knock, if you were to just play her like the boomer and hide around corners or just drop down from a rooftop, in front of the survivors. Also, a player controlled witch would be able to go for any survivor, after being triggered, and it doesn't make a lot of sense to punish a player that didn't trigger the witch. The way the witch works right now is probably the only way it can play out naturally.
An AI witch is already terrifying.
But a player witch? Oh god..

when I was at 11 in 2014, i couldnt get this to work lmao. 6 years later (today). I was finally able to make it work, I can't believe it took that long for me to realize that "Sourcemod" is something else more and not just adding a folder called "sourcemod" on the addons file. I even thought playing as the witch would be cool because of these videos, turns out it's so dull cuz you can only control the witch when she's not startled :[ Though, I hope someone could modify the plugin and atleast let us control the camera movement of a startled witch hence the movement and would just stop when she hits a survivor or the given target...

She can, when she can be a "wandering" witch or a "Sitting" Witch, wandering witches aren't as provoking as a sitting witch.

15 years of L4D and you still can't fully control a Witch, only when she's crying. If it's do-able, people aren't really interested.
It's kind of creepy that you can play as her but it's more creepy where she can climb up the walls
Tips:
1. Don't point your flash like at her
2. walk as far away from her
3. Ignore her

It's not so much "playing" as the Witch, but remotely controlling it's movements. You can barely jump with it nor can you fully melee anything with it, and once you've fulling angered the Witch while in control, you just kind of let go of the keyboard and watch it do it's thing before dying off. Personally, I think this kind of mod is gimped as hell, but balanced enough to not count it as overpowered or unplayable.
Lets be real all of us when we were young looked up how to be the witch then realizing it won't work.

When I used to play this I was like 10 or 11 (I'm 17 now) and I used to be SOO fuckin scared of that bitch, excuse me, witch.
One time while I was playing with my cousin we were just doing fine looking for a way out and I hear her crying and I'm like "shit..." so I kept and eye out but the farther I walked her cries got louder but I had no fuckin idea where she was at the once I turned around I heard her scream and charge at me and it absolutely scared the shit out of me I screamed and my hand jolted making the controller fly out of my hand hitting my cousin in the face. I stared crying and my cousin was laughing at me and hissing at the pain from the controller.

Well, it's not really cool, that's why players don't always control the witch. You just go to the survivors, get angry. You can't control the witch if she's angry or retreating... I'm waiting for DJ_WEST to update it to *fully* control the witch.
