I never understood why Asriel insults Lyra with such contempt after hearing what James said I finally get it, Asriel's ego was being hella hurt by his 12 year old daughter basically😂😂

I do believe that Asriel loves Lyra a lot. But like James said, he feels like his mission is more important. He probably has twisted it in his mind that he loves her so he’s doing all of this for her, so she can live a free life. That’s what Mrs. Coulter has done so I’m guessing he’s done something similar to justify his actions in his head. Also he’s having a hard time with the fact that his daughter is better than him, like James said. And It hurts his ego lmao.
As a citizen of Ukraine, it was very strange for me to hear at 40:50 a mention of current events in my country as a struggle for freedom. You guys made a film about anti-dogmatism and free will, but your own vision of the world is somehow single-dimensional. Do you really think this is a war of good guys against bad guys? And I bet you're sure you know who are the bad ones, exactly the way your media teaches you? If so, then I think your alethiometer is broken, don't let it be controlled by an evil spirit.
