People who don't have kids don't realize how much more work it is to camp with kids. It's very rewarding and great family fun, but it's exponentially more complicated. I love to see you camp with your family --- keep up being the good dad! We explore the western U.S. in a Four Wheel Camper on an F250 diesel crew cab with my 9 year old daughter (also Hanna) and with my 11 year old son.
Camping with the kids is great, not only does the family get life away from technology aka mobile phones and game consoles but it also lets the kids appreciate and care for our great country. Another great video mate, I would love to get a patriot camper but my wife has put her foot down and we will be eventually getting a 19.6ft caravan..... Happy wife, moderately happy life 👍👍
The longer the distance between hitch ball and the axle the easier it is to backup. It's just trigonometry, for a given movement left or right, a longer tongue to axle distance means smaller angular changes between the trailer and the tow vehicle.
Yes but the x1 and x2 are the same except for the side panels of the trailer which gives more side vision for easier backing. Like a dog trailer and even a skel trailer is trickier to back than a 40 foot curtain sider.
@@Malc664 But the X2 is just over 2ft shorter than the X1N. I can't verify what that translates to in tongue to axle distance on either model but I would assume there is a sizable difference, possibly 1/2 to 2/3 the difference. www.patriotcampers.com.au/camper-trailers/x2/
Ronny it’s nice to hear the real story with kids! I love taking my two girls camping! The eldest started when she was 8 weeks old! I’m really enjoying your content it’s great! Keep it up!
Love these videos as we have a two-year-old. Agree with all that you've said on that subject. Trailer looks great, especially more water storage! Food, water, power...all three things that are nice to have more of than you will ever need...especially with kids!
When I started camping with my 2 kids we started off in a Kings Big Daddy swag. We now rock the RV5. Basic cooking setup. I use a small enclosed trailer to take motorbikes and other toys for them. If you think and plan it out camping with kids can be quite enjoyable. Definitely preparing easy meals is a must.
Good piece Ronny. Remember, for stability the trailer draw bar should have a slight nose-down attitude. This moves the CG forward so the back end doesn't wriggle around. 15:25 the triple fold is employed to get the air out quickly. I have Expedias which are 10cm and they roll up quite well.
Wonderful documentation about how things turn when camping with kids. Its worth it, its memories for life time, for all of you. Thanks for sharing. Regarding the setup I have the impression its way over the top. That combo you're driving easily adds up to... what, say 150 grand? So, man, seriously, what percentage of your audience you think will be able to spend this for a camper/camping setup? Probably less than 5%... Its time for a couple of videos demonstrating low- and mid-budget solutions while still having fun and cherishing the most beautiful places on earth in WA !!
@JiffiJoff I think you’d be surprised how many people spend serious money on this, comes back to what you’re into. Plenty of grey nomads in $250k set ups, I know of people with best part of $100k invested in a fishing boat, in a ski boat & ski gear, who (used) to spend $20-30k on an overseas holiday to go snow skiing, who own an $80k horsefloat to tow those expensive beasts around. Sure if you have a tight budget then that is well served with the plethora of cheap Chinese made gear, Ronny has done videos on cheap set ups before- go back through his video catalogue
Love these kids camping tips try to get out with my daughter as often as possible. And every time “overpack” for her and every time it’s not enough food or clothes or toys etc etc. Great vid 👍🏻
Looking at your thumbnail pic if you already have a downward angle on your draw bar adding 35s will only increase the angle not level it out id imagine?

Great video Ronny. Love the production value in some of the latest vids but it was so good to see some old school Ronny back again. The stuff that actually made the channel.
So great, enjoyed this a lot. Video’s with useful information don’t always need the full cinematic production. Useful to me, as I have kids - and good to know the Good Gear, to invest in for many years to come. Also great to see the new Patriot trailer in use, away from their production videos.
The seatosummit mat will fit perfect in your swag too, for the double swag, exped megamat duo is the same style, storing them inflated at home under a bed between trips helps them selfinflat very quickly when you get to camp
Great video mate. We are full time traveling with kids, although not exactly camping, but I can definitely agree with the point about keeping a good supply of snacks.

Hi Ronny, great video, it’s great and informative I liked it. There are various commences in different directions. Such thing as a review of a product for sure does not suits all viewers. If they like to go basics, ok just through your swag on the roof and get a box of food and enough ale and go camping. Done that bee there... now getting older, kids out of the house, missus want to live in permanently in a van for a year or two?! What to do? Patriot camper trailer are the Australian no.1 quality and have their price which I think is worth the money all day. No, I did not buy from Justin a patriot camper trailer, but that said for the one and only reason. Not possible to live in for a year or better 2.. we say horses for courses, so please accept that there are different applications and different vehicles to suit everybody. We liked this video review showing a product of extreme good quality and even resale value! Cheers
Trailer looks tough but the storage section needs to be rearranged, especially the pantry storage on top of the stove. You can't access that storage while cooking.
The further the distance from the vehicle axle to the trailer axle the easier it is, the trailer simply changes direction slower therefore easier to reverse. The shorter the tow vehicle and the longer the trailer the easier it is. Just like a semi trailer.
What gets me is the amount of disposable income you'd need for a rig like that and you're still sleeping on the ground, what's it all worth loaded up 200k plus? How many families with kids can afford that.
challenge for your trip with tourbs. who can change a fanbelt the fastest and an idea for the luxy. could you put spotlights actually in the frame of the bullbar, not on top
What's the talcum power trick to get sand off your feet and how is it done? I grew up in Hawaii and all we did was beat on our feet with hands towels or anything we could find that would do the job till there was next to no sand left before getting in the tent or vehicle.
Nice one Ronny. Enjoyed that. During lockdown my roof tent has had more use than ever before. The kids love it, but... I am finding that when we go camping and set up camp, the roof tent means that your motor is out of commission so I am looking at a trailer option. Like Bruce Vale says, the Patriot’s look pricey but would you say you get what you pay for?? I’ve got to girls, who love camping (12 & 15) but the misses isn’t a fan. So they end up in the roof tent and I’m in my solo swag. This year (2021) we plan to do more camping than ever. I’m UK based but also get over to Europe. So for a family of 3 and possibly 4 if I can’ persuade the misses, is there a trailer solution that fits 3 or 4 almost adults or I am better sticking with the current set up??
I wouldn't pack stuff so close around the inverter, certainly nothing made out of cloth. I imagine that thing can get really hot if you choke it like that. Combine that with the easily combustible material...
