She's metal screaming two inches from the mic with no pop shield (and no popping). That is unbelievable breath control.
You can hear slight clipping in her second line of her first scream, she adjusts on the fly like the boss she is 🤘
I'm sure there is some cleanup that was done on the audio. This wasn't at a studio, it is husband Alex Lopez formerly of Suicide Silence's home in Southern California during lockdown, so I'm sure there'd be some kinds of intrusive sounds coming through if they didn't clean it up, traffic or whatnot.
@@palladinodessa8988 I suspect that since she didn't have to deal with keeping herself going through a whole performance she was pushing all out and probably with minimal if any warmup and pushed to hard on that scream. Just my guess.
@@j.f.fisher5318 It seems she "feels" the clipping or heard it and adjusts from then on. Even though you hear it, it is her reaction to not doing it again that is impressive. Like she takes her foot off the gas so to speak.

If you're looking for something epic, you have to listen to I Speak Astronomy. Tati's clean to growl ratio leans more towards the cleans, but she does some serious high belts towards the end and the progressive riffs are mind bending.
I was gonna say the same one man!!! Just when you think the song is ended and your mind can't be blown further... she comes in with those high belts that just... fucking goosebumps every time. I Speak Astronomy is for sure my pic also for next reaction.

I feel that if Jinjer was a few decibels softer, we'd all be complaining of how insta-mainstream they got so quickly. At the same time, given that bias, we'd not be paying attention to their mucisianship (I know its not a word but I feel people will get it) either.
I saw Jinjer on the second to last show of last years American tour and even though she was very tired (she said that at the meet and greet) she and the band put on as close to a flawless performance as I have ever seen, truly a once in a lifetime talent.
I've seen them 3 times now... every performance better than the last!

Just met this band and I'm going insane over them, not just Tatiana's vocals, every single member is a jewel of their own. It's so crazy, thank you for more suggestions even though it wasn't targeted at me XD
People out there love to hate on this band. I've seen people say she just overdub with the studio version! If you listen to the 2 back to back you can hear she actually changes the pitch on some things and actually gets more brutal!! All hail Queen Tati!! Want to hear the top of her clean range?

This one was done in the middle of COVID lockdown. Tati and Eugene were stuck in LA and I believe it was done at her boyfriend's (now husband) place. She's married to Alex Lopez, the long time drummer for Suicide Silence, who left that band back in April. I was lucky enough to see both Jinjer and SS back in November when they toured together. I think the invasion of Ukraine may have played a small part in Alex leaving so he wouldn't be out on tour while Tatiana dealt with the war, but that's just speculation on my part. I don't know if that was ever a reason stated by Alex.
I saw them in December, in Nashville. PHENOMENAL!

Alex has been touring as drummer for another band called Deez Nuts. And yeah, the cat is her and Alex's cat Pepino (Cucumber in spanish) so it is at his place in LA (?) somewhere in Sothern California at least.

Saw them live this monday live at Malmoe, Sweden! They was the pre-band to Slipknot, such a good experience that I will never forget. The positiv vibes was through the roof!
Tatiana is a huge Reggae fan. She fronted a Reggae band before she joined Jinjer. Also if you're digging all the clean vocals check out Bad Water by them. Nothing but cleans
So there is a ten year old girl called Harper who got signed to the same label as Spiritbox. She just put out a song called Falling. She's gonna blow your minds.
League of her own she really is to my ear.. her tone her diction her range her transitions and all backed with 3 other exceptional musicians ! Jinjer made me reconsider everything i thought i knew and loved about music.. not just metal.
Tati is something very special, but please don't forget the world class of the other musicians!!!!

Great reaction. For something a little different, you should react to Tatiana's collaboration with 12 Foot Ninja on their song "Over and Out"(OMV). The harmonization is great but the quirky Australian humour is awesome. I think with your sense of humour you would really, really enjoy it and it would make a very entertaining reaction.

You guys might be interested in their writing process...
Basically, Vlad, Roman, and Eugene write all the tracks, record demos, and send them to Tati.
She then writes the lyrics and melodies, usually at the last second under a self-created procrastinatory time crunch, and somehow weaves both through the intricate instrumentals with an ease and mastery that very few native-speaker poets could muster, let alone as her third language. Sometimes she writes in Russian and then translates to English, sometimes she writes in English.
Actually, their somewhat mellower song/video Wallflower is explicitly about that, casting the band as stalkers/pursuers seeking the lyrics she'd promised while she hermits all introverted in her house.

I dont know how I missed out on Jinjer for so long either, I finally discovered them about a year ago and can't wait until they have the time and ability to tour the US again, I just missed them last year before they stopped b/c of the war. The bands musical range fits so perfectly with the unreal range of Tati. II think they are in their prime now and hopefully stay there for awhile.
The music video to this song is pretty wild. I love Jinger because you can't really be sure what your getting outside of it being awesome.

Great reaction guys! You see why I am such a huge fan of this band and of Tatiana. I am a lifelong metalhead and since discovering them a couple years ago, I am still aways amazed by them every time I listen. This was so cool! I love your reactions to Jinjer, and this one was great as well! I'd recommend either "I Speak Astronomy'" (epic with a lot of mood changes!) or "Wallflower" (it's an evolving trip!) next.
If you want to check out other one-take vocal performances (aside from Jinjer), Courtney from Spiritbox has a couple (try Rule of Nines), and also Will Ramos from Lorna Shore has a bunch of them (not clean singing but more extreme vocalizing).

Their lead singer, Tony Kakko, is incredibly talented, he also did a live cover of Bohemian Rhapsody with a small orchestra group which is worth checking out.
