Growing up, I used to be a big fan, to this day I have a big collection of various editions of Hitchhiker's Guide; my favourite is either the first or the second book, I feel like it changes with each readthrough (and it's been a couple of years since the last one...). Are you planning on reading the book And Another Thing by Eoin Colfer? It's sort of a "fan sequel" to Douglas Addams' series, and I remember it being a solid ending with some unexpected moments, a lot of characters from earlier books returned and had bigger roles, though the humor didn't hit the same.
The first one is definitely one of a kind! You’ll have to do another reread to see which is your favourite now 😂 I wasn’t planning on reading the one not written by Adams as my buddy reader Elizabeth warned me off it 😅
I also loved the truck driver who didn’t know he was a rain god in so long and thanks for all the fish
