You are so right about the spice scenes are always amidst these horrible moments around them. I only noticed the one in the war camp but when you say it like that I totally see it!
you’re so right with how SJM vilifies Tamlin and then suddenly tries to redeem him??? and it’s even more ridiculous with how she treats his character in the next books?? like in ACOFAS, Rhys literally comes in to mock a very clearly depressed and traumatised Tamlin, who lives in the ruins of his court by himself, (and we know SJM’s fave could never do anything wrong so it’s portrayed as the right thing to do?) and Nesta does a similar thing in ACOSF?? like she goes through all the effort of assassinating his character in ACOMAF and ACOWAR to make Rhys look better, then tries to redeem Tamlin mid book, only to go back and vilify him again??? like girl make up your mind?? honestly, the way Tamlin is treated in the one chapter he’s in ACOFAS was enough to make me start liking him because SJM so clearly doesn’t
100%! It felt very much like she was done with him after book 1 and just kinda gave him random stuff to do in the next before then trying to make us pity him immediately even after the stuff she’s made him do?? I’ll keep u updated on ACOFAS 😂
You and me both!! The way SJM treats Tamlin unnerves me, it’s so unfair and unnecessary. So yeah, I feel pity for him and I highlight his good traits any chance I get 😂
SJM trying to make Tamlin look like the villain just made me love him more and despise Rhys, especially in books 4 and 5. I really hope she made this on purpose to build up a healing arc (not a redemption arc since he already redeemed himself during the last chapters in ACOWAR imo). Wether she plans it or not, it's bad writing to me. I adored ACOTAR and ACOMAF but it went downhill with ACOWAR to me. I know what's up next in 4 and 5 but hesitate to read them because of this.. I wish she'll be more consistence with the characters in the future books otherwise it's gonna feel so unsatisfying to read them I think.. I already felt unsatisfied when I finished ACOWAR. Really needed Tamlin and Feyre talk to each other face to face about everything that went wrong between them and finally apologize and make peace with each other. If something like this won't happen in the future I'll be mad. Sure I don't want them to be together anymore but I needed a clarifying conversation plus Feyre and Rhys thanking him at least for saving Rhys' life. Feyre writing a short note to him at the end of ACOWAR made me dislike her so much. In books 4 and 5 Rhys seems just like an asshole towards Tamlin and I hope SJM will change this awful relationship between them for the better in the next books.
I appreciate your points so much, ACOMAF and especially ACOWAR read like psychological horrors with Rhysand puppeteering Feyre, while SJM tries to convince us he’s great, it’s so disturbing
Also if you read the fourth book, do it around Christmas. It takes place over the winter solstice that is their equivalent. Although I always want to say Winter fest from the sims 😅
I believe that the popularity of this series is down to the community it created around it. People love talking about it, even when it comes to talking crap about it. I don't think most people are blind to the faults. But it's sort of like Taylor Swift of books, she's not this amazing vocalist but she has people talking and connecting to each other.
An interesting point! Totally, it’s like a coin with one side being those who gush over them together and then the other side that connect over hating it.
Yay! I have finally found my people! I am so proud to belong to this amazing community of Rhysand’s haters. The way everyone is obsessing over him is honestly kind of disturbing
I used to like Rhysand like in A Court of Mist and Fury, but in the other books, he kind of turned...Meh Azirel is probably the most decant out of the group because he doesn't talk XD
Honestly, at this point, I consume these reviews to know how to not write a relationship/character. Your review is enjoyable and I honestly don't like Rhys even though, that I never read the book series. I heard enough to know that I will never touch any of these books. But still entertaining to watch :D
I just finished reading it (I know I'm so late on the whole acotar hype, but I refused to read it for years, after people described it as spicy fantasy 😂 🤢...because girl is a traditional fantasy lover lol)....I actually got over the "spicy" parts and stopped cringing after a while, but I had to come onto the Internet and see if I'm the only one who's bothered with how Tamlin and Rhysand are being portrayed. I'm a military wife and the whole PTSD thing hits home quite a bit, and I feel the author has totally ignored Tam's suffering and his sacrifices. I understand the idea of two broken people not being able to fix each other, but I felt like the book really did him dirty. The way Tam handled the whole PTSD thing was obviously catastrophic, but once again, anyone who knows someone who struggled with these demons in real life will know that communication for those who suffer is not that easy. I actually don't have a huge issue with Rhy. Just another character that is trauma riddled. I just don't like how Tam is being portrayed, just in order to make Rhy look better or to make excuses for his odd behaviour....
Awesome video 💯‼️I also hate Rhysand as well as Tamlin but more Rhysand because Tamlin still has a chance to redeem himself but Rhysand imho is just on a pedestal.
Isn't Ianthe a priestess, not a princess? Or am I forgetting something? You're probably right that Feyre should have just killed Ianthe. I actually don't like Feyre's revenge quest on the Spring Court. It was short sighted when you consider that Tamlin wasn't actually a true ally of the King of Hybern, he was sort of just doing the whole "keep your enemies close" thing. She destroyed the Spring Court from within even though her beef was with its High Lord, not the common fey who lived there. "Mate" is a word for friend in the UK so honestly everyone is just "friendzoning" their loved one when the say this and it's funny. Ngl, the death god requesting a mirror that will make most people mad when they look into it makes me laugh. Honestly, sounds like something a death god would be into. Maybe the reason the other courts don't trust the Night Court is because they betray other courts, like Summer and Spring, and they are so willing to ally with literal demons?
Wow thank you for taking the time to comment this ☺️ Honestly when I finish these videos I think my brain self heals and tries to repress all the information so u could be right! And yeh she could have dethroned Tamlin and helped set up a new ruling system but nope, the night court don’t care to fix the problems they cause as seen in ACOFAS when we see it in ruins! Thanks for watching the video I appreciate your time 😊
I'm constantly saying my issue with Rhys is actually an issue with SJM, he had such good potential and she just ruined him for the satisfaction of everyone loving him more than other characters, but it backfired imo 😂
I don’t understand why Rhys is getting the heat for being “spicy” at “inappropriate times” when each time it was consensual & Feyre was eager to engage lol. She even initiated it in the Illyrian camp scene. So if he’s weird/cringe, she is too.
I mean the pimping in B1 wasn’t necessarily consensual. But I do agree, not all the blame should be put on Rhys, Feyre was apart of it too. That being said, I would put forward that Rhys is WAY older and should honestly know better and also seeing from his point of view in the next book makes me double down even more on him being the more creepy of the two. But thank you for commenting, definitely should have mentioned Feyre a bit more, but ultimately my hatred for Rhys took forefront 😅😂
I think the main issue people (admittedly, I’m one of them…) take with it is the fact that they’re both getting down n dirty in; 1.) A library meant to be a sanctuary for women who have been SA’d with said people still in the library, and 2.) A war camp surrounded by the sounds of the dead and dying…
Tamlin’s actions in ACOMAF are super valid and Feyre does Almost get kidnapped after she begins training with the bat boys when she is under Rhys and bat boys watch.
I mean Tamlin definitely did SOME things wrong but definitely not enough for SJM to keep dragging him through the mud for no damn reason lmao. This man used to be her ML and she keeps shooting his long dead body to make Rhysand look good
Im sorry but you didnt really give points or reasons why you dislike Rhysand other than he has a kink for doing it in places hes not supposed to. You titled the video the problem with Rhysand but you mostly just give a vague summary of the book, a better title would have been I dont like this book, which is fine. I enjoyed these books though Im willing to admit there are some not so great parts and Im up for a discussion about that. Yes, Feyres dad was kinda thrown in at the end there and it seems like SJM kinda forgot about him. Yes, the cauldron is kind of lame, yes Amren should have just died out this book. It seems like SJM cant decide how she wants to write Tamlin, I think what she was going for was showing hes not a bad person he just wasnt right for Feyre. You cant fall in love with her in the first book for being a cunning fighter and then in the next book go yeah thanks for saving us babe but I got it from here go paint some flowers. Tamlin is not a bad person but just like his land is stuck in spring hes stuck in the way things used to be, his mother was just a pretty lady who didnt play a role in ruling, high priestesses are always right, all his forefathers enforced a tithe no matter what so he will too, high lords have complete authority. Rhysand on the other hand acknowledges Feyre is a fighter and encourages her to be herself, just like he does for everyone in his court. He works on merit not birthright, he changes old practices that he doesnt agree with, he listens to input/ critism from his advisors. Compared to Tamlin/ other rulers hes pretty open minded. He has some kinks but that doesnt mean hes a bad person, Feyre is on board with all of it so I dont think hes a bad character. Just my opinion.
Okay then, what about how Rhysand pimps her out against her will in the first book? Or used a tattoo she can’t remove to spy on her? I’ve mentioned those through my videos on this series but you clearly didn’t pay attention- which ain’t my fault. Why don’t you make your own video and title that instead of passive aggressively coming after mine lol. I appreciate the time you took to reply and engage with my content, but you could at least watch it first. At the end of the day though I’m glad to be here talking about books even if we disagree😅
If you hate Rhysand now, just wait until ACOSF!!
Oh no…
yeah, all of this "male", "female", "mate" words constantly. Gross. And Rhysand is a creep, I agree with you
You are so right about the spice scenes are always amidst these horrible moments around them. I only noticed the one in the war camp but when you say it like that I totally see it!

i just never understood tamlins switch. like yeah trauma but also it felt like a 360 just to make it easier for her to get with riceland ugh weird
I appreciate your points so much, ACOMAF and especially ACOWAR read like psychological horrors with Rhysand puppeteering Feyre, while SJM tries to convince us he’s great, it’s so disturbing
She clearly did a good job, it’s like an up hill battle when u say u don’t like him 😂
Also if you read the fourth book, do it around Christmas. It takes place over the winter solstice that is their equivalent. Although I always want to say Winter fest from the sims 😅

Azirel managed to escape the cringe dialogue😂
@@LoveSam- Yeah, by not talking. And when he did it was little so not much thought left there. 😂
We love a quiet character for those reasons.

"Just kill your enemies" thank you lmaooo. Like wow these books would be a lot shorter if they stopped leaving all these loose threads alive
Greatest problem with Rhysand: The way Maas wrote him 😅
I'm constantly saying my issue with Rhys is actually an issue with SJM, he had such good potential and she just ruined him for the satisfaction of everyone loving him more than other characters, but it backfired imo 😂
I don't know, I think it's that he literally owned Feyre
you explained some of the issues I have with the books very well

BRUH THEY BOTH SUCK. Feyre should've girlbossed tf outta there
