This is the short edited version. They always cut down the original performances from Woodstock. 4 minutes light. You should find the full performance and check it out! Alvin Lee was a monster, and so was the band!
The cretins who edit these glorious live performances should be banned from ever listening to these artists! They obviously despise music and art in general. Despicable.
Spot on. Thank you for pointing that out. They also show the short edited version of Santana's Soul Sacrifice from Woodstock. When you are 16 and in 1969 you don't forget these performances.
Leo Lyons, bass player for TYA, was asked by a reporter after their epic performance at Woodstock what it felt like to be an overnight success. Leo replied "Not too bad. It only took us 8 years".
For more Woodstock music I recommend checking out Canned Heats Woodstock footage. A Change is Gonna Come, On the Road Again, Goin’ Up the Country would all be good but I would start with Woodstock Boogie. Canned Heat is one of my all time favorite groups.
This is actually a shortened version of the original track. So you're missing a whole section where the vocals are totally improvised. You should find it and have the full experience.
A friend of my saw him in the 80s playing in this small bar He said he came out in jeans and a t shirt and blew his mind in his older years he was still a beast
Got to see Alvin in a small venue in the mid 80's he is one of the best blues players I'd ever seen. When he closed the show he brought out this guitar and played this song. There were maybe 300 people it was phenomenal.
Thanks for the reaction!! One of my favorite bands and very underrated. Alvin Lee is an awesome guitarist!!! Leo Lyons is a killer bass player as well. Of course, I appreciate the entire band. If you get a chance check out some of Alvin's solo work like "Slow Blues in C", "Bluest Blues with George Harrison" and "I Can't Keep from Crying Sometimes", live version.
Anything off of these 3 TYA studio albums is worth listening to: “Ssssh” (1969), “Cricklewood Green” (1970) (my personal favorite) & “A Space in Time” (1971). Those are all a major part of the soundtrack of my high school days. Thanks for listening to this great music!!!
Bass guitarist - Leo Lyons - has his own youtube channel and is still touring and performing today! A real gentleman too, usually replying personally and quickly to fans comments. The band were quite jazzy in their early days: there was a live album recorded at Klooks Kleek in London - in about 1968, I think. My favourite early album was Stonedhenge, tracks like Speed Kills and Hear Me Calling blew my schoolboy mind in the late 60’s!
I Can't Keep From Crying, live at Winterland, 1975, for 30 years I thought it was a bass solo, nope, it was Alvin detuning his top string!! You'll understand if you watch it!! But, everything by Ten Years After is cool, and it all jams!!
Alvin Lee was a beast. Question to @setonhillstudios, since you've been on this classic trip; has your approach or technique changed with your drumming?
Honestly, I haven’t been playing as much as I would like lately. Growing up I was heavily influenced by most of the greats anyways like Neil Peart, John Bonham, Steve Smith, etc. However, listening to all this great music has changed the way I think about song composition! Thanks for asking! 😁
thanks for the reaction and appreciation. ⚡️🤘🎸✨ this band and guitar hero are, tragically, all but forgotten today. i recommend watching I Just Can’t Keep From Crying Sometimes live in 1975 at Winterland. The song and guitar techniques first appeared on TYA’s Undead album recorded live in 1968. Alvin describes it as “a cross between a Bach fugue and something else”. Another great is Help Me. The Woodstock version is my favorite with the longest guitar run i’ve ever heard, more insane creative guitar techniques, and some pretty wild drums too.⚡️✨🤘🎸 Rock On!
I started to listen to them when I was about sixteen. I'm 68 years old now. I still love Alvin Lee's guitar playing! One thing you should listen to and watch with Alvin, are from The night of the guitars show - No limit. I also think you would like the English Pub rock band Dr. Feelgood. Wilko Johnson, have a very special way to play the guitar.. :- ) Thank you for your very nice reactions! Greetings from Sweden.
When the movie of Woodstock came out we got to see so many acts we hadn't heard before. I'm Goin' Home was right at the end of the movie. Alvin and the boys STOLE the show. My 2 strongest memories are Ten Years After and Santana,
Let's Gooo! So many amazing Woodstock performances. Check out Jimi Hendrix Star Spangled Banner live. It will blow your mind. Great reaction and Peace out ☮️ ✌️ 🙏
Sadly, this video is heavily edited. Alvin Lee was primarily a blue/rock guitarist. Definitely check out his other stuff. "I Can't Keep From Crying, Sometimes" is a big personal fave. I was fortunate to see him in the very late 90's before he passed, and he was still freakin' amazing!
I saw Ten Years After twice in concert. I saw them in 1969 before Woodstock. They opened for The Jeff Beck Group. They destroyed The Jeff Beck Group. It was laughable. I also saw them in 1974 at The Spectrum in Philadelphia. The opening act was Bachman Turner Overdrive. BTO was good, Ten Years After was next level.
TYA were brilliant! Saw them a number of times back in the day. Highly recommend that you check out another guitar giant from the 60/70's.......Rory Gallagher. Try Bullfrog Blues.
True story: I'd never heard Ten Years After and went the see the Woodstock movie. When this came on I said "Oh My God, that sounds just like Ridgely", who was the guitarist in the band I was in at the time. The sound of a Gibson 335 straight into a Marshal stack --- absolutely NO effects.
Yes, Alvin Lee and the really fast bass player is Leo Lyons. I'd Love To Change The World should be next and for a taste of Alvin's solo work, check out The Bluest Blue, featuring George Harrison on slide guitar.
Half the song is missing ... youtube reactors always pick the edited, cutted short version - and I don't know why!? o_O The original video-footage is longer than this reaction! +lol ... Anyway: Great band, great reaction! :) *going_home
@@setonhillstudios Check it out, yes! But you don't have to do a new reaction video! :) Or just an extra add-video with the missing minutes! The band is playing a short rock'n'roll-medley ...

Bought you a pizza. :- )
Alvin Lee so underrated and a name that seems to get lost in history. One of the Grandfathers of Shredding!
Alvin Lee was nicknamed "Captain Speedfingers for a reason and Leo Lyons is shredding the bass as well on this song. Great reaction. RIP Alvin 🙏✌️
yeah, Alvin resented that moniker, though.
They do the song "Bad Scene" for a now forgotten U.S. variety show that can be found on you tube. Thats an awesome song.
Alvin was a beast!!!! “Fastest guitarist in the west” Epic performance. Epic reaction!!!! 🔥🔥🎸🤘✌️😀
This is the short edited version. They always cut down the original performances from Woodstock. 4 minutes light. You should find the full performance and check it out! Alvin Lee was a monster, and so was the band!
Yeah, HATE that. Unsuspecting reactors see chopped versions and don't realize
A total injustice

Ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Alvin Lee.
Listen to “The Bluest Blues” by Alvin Lee. It is the blues with guitar solos by George Harrison and Alvin Lee
I'd love to change the world was their big hit. 0ne of their deeper tracks is 50,000 miles beneath my brain.
Still holds truth in today's world !
their hit "i'd love to change the world" is super!
ONE OF THESE DAYS the best from them 1972
It's actually the blues!! Just with a faster pace!!
Slow Blues In C, Live from The Marque Club in London. A must.
LOVE LIKE A MAN, AWESOME
Alvin Lee was a gift from the Guitar Gods!!! And that's what Woodstock was...gritty and dirty!! The musicians just let loose!!🎵🎼🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸🤘🤘🤘
I will agree, the full version is the best. I’ve been listening to this since I was 13

Criminally underestimated. That's how you rock out 🤘💯🤘💯🤘❤️ 👍from Belgium 🇧🇪
