  • This video shows how I use "Stock removal" to create a knife blankl, in this case I'm working on a batch of Camp knives.
I use this very same method for all my knife builds whether they be Classics, Whittlers etc.
The other method to make knife blanks if to forge them using a furnace, hammer and anvil/ presses but unfortunately I am not able to do that at my location, it's just too noisy for my environs!

People just comprehend the amount of time and work that goes into these knife builds from the offset. The process is painstaking and you can only do so much in a day. Im waiting for the day you pick up a nicely grained bit of cocobolo for me and fit it to a bit of 01 with mosaic pins...im a patient man 😂 Qhen you do, its got my name on it Sandy 😂👍

Perfection can be very tedious my friend. Every step in this process that you perform is taken with pride and total concentration. It should never be any surprise that you turn out such a brilliant product Sandy. I am certain that this work is very exhaustive and difficult so I hope that you are able to get a very satisfactory return for your efforts. Thank you as always for sharing a part of your day with us. It is always an interesting journey. See you on the next one.

I can understand why you only want to produce a handful a year😊
Thanks for sharing and can't wait to see what's in store this next year! I still check the website every so often to see if I can purchase another one of your beautiful knives! Happy holidays to you and the family!!

    Hi Sandy
Cool video, many thanks for showing how much time and work goes into making the blade, let alone the handle! Good news: That top quality is very visible in your wonderful knives.

With all the work you put into your knives is exactly why they are wanted by people around the world!!
Also, people around the world have the information necessary to keep your tradition/legacy in the ways of a Jacklore Knife!
I can't tell you how proud I am to own two of them (Classic/Whittler)
    Stay safe and healthy!

Great video Sandy. It's only from being able to watch your videos through the years, that I gained a true appreciation for just how much work you put into every knife and just how meticulously you execute each and every stage of the manufacturing process 🙂. Have a wonderful time with the family this Christmas Sandy. 🙂

Thanks for showing us, Mr. Jack the Knife, but no-one’s fooled by this charade, you know. Everyone knows you can knock ‘em out by the thousand a week, but you choose to limit production so as to keep the brand exclusive, just like De Beers and their diamonds 😂
Just kidding. Hope the Wiltshire Man household is all well, and that all enjoy a warm, and replete Xmas. Cheers, sir.

I'm pleased to see you demonstrating what is actually involved in making things well. The skill & time expended is beyond many people's comprehension, so good for you. Well done for wearing a powered respirator too by the way, I use one for wood turning & consider it essential. I hope you find time to video some of each stage of knife making process & post a log of hours going into each knife.
All the best for Chjristmas & 2024.

That seems like a very fine tooth blade, I have found that you get more life and much faster cutting out of a lower tooth count blade. I bought a bunch of blades that were too fine and I’m just waiting to burn through them till I can get back to a lower tooth count blade.

I'm using 24TPI but when cutting 3mm stock it means I get 3 or 4 teeth on the workpiece at any one moment. When I switched to lower TPI the cutting rate does increase but so does the amount of teeth that break, especially so when cutting thinner sections.

Just wondering, 🤔, is your own knife (presumably it's O1) shiny and clean, or is it covered in "patina". ?
I'm thinking of buying a small pocket knife, and can't decide whether to go for the stainless, or high carbon steel version,, 🤔🤔,,
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family, Sandy,, 🎅🎅🎄😊

    • @Jackloreknives
      @Jackloreknives  6 месяцев назад +1

Patina, carbon steel will always darken a bit with age, and can even turn black, thats fine, patination is a good thing
