I was under the impression that the flashback DID confirm Joyboy's size being rather large. Unless Emet grew to his current size over 800 years scaling his height as much taller than a regular giant, and how Joyboy seemed to be roughly the size of his head in the flashback would still put him being far far larger than luffy
Kohei Horikoshi is 37 years old. His art may have been showcased during Dressrosa but he definitely was not only 15 years old at the time. I believe the art was showcased during Dressrosa to celebrate the beginning of My Hero Academia but I could be wrong about that part.

Imu is definitely from the void century. I think Imu reacted that way because he wasn't expecting something like that, not after 800 years. He recognized Joyboy's haki, something he hadn't felt in years, anybody would be shook. Since the Gorosei failed, I think Imu will finally step up and going after the Straw Hats himself.

The fact that they're immortal is basically confirmed at this point. I wouldn't be so sure about the Ope Ope. Could easily be and I'd not be surprised if it was, but who knows..! Maybe there's even another explanation, which might only be valid for Imu. The fact that there's an Ope Ope user alive NOW kinda puts the ope ope theory for Imu in jeopardy, in my opinion
Saturn's power might be what was making the Elders immortal. His summoning didn't truly summon them, but mere aspects of them, and Emmet's Haki attack broke the summoning pushing them back to Marie Joie. This would be why Saturn was still there, because he was always close by but not the monster they were facing.

I’m still convinced that the “D” was originally a smile that got interpreted as a D by future people who didn’t understand the symbol of Joyboy.
I think it’s implied in this chapter that Conquerer’s Haki, or rather, mastery of it will be the key to defeating the Elders and by extension Imu.
The fact that Haki can be kept long term in string definitely supports the theory that imbued haki is what has made the ponoglyphs indestructible.
And given its strength. Perhaps this is related to black blades?
Less certain on this second point but felt worth a mention.

1. The knot thing might be an ancient technique or technology similar to the dial from Skypiea. So it can store something in it (like the wind or haki) and can be unleashed when it's unknotted.
2. Imu has a mysterious caretaker besides them. And I think that this person will have an important role in the future. They are chosen to take care of THE Imu after all.

Luffy and Buggy were the first two devil fruits introduced. Buggy is immune to cutting and Luffy is immune to blunt attacks. Luffy’s fruit was being held by Shank’s crew and Buggy’s fruit was being held by Roger’s crew. Honestly that seems kind of weird to me since it always seemed the splitting of the sky wasn't just due to intense haki It seemed to specifically be two separate sources clashing and the split of the sky is representative not just of the raw force of the combined tube but the competition between the two
So I was always under the impression that even if say you took white beard and increased his haki by double it wouldn't split the sky It would do something else due to a lack of competition with another source of energy

Its true that the protagonist usually loses first, as you said, but we are into the end of the story and we need to start making wins if we are really going to start feeling like Luffy deserves to be on the level of the other biggest players. I think the days of Luffy being the underdog should be behind us and we should start seeing why him and the Strawhats truly are a yonko crew.
They just escaped from one of the world governments most important territories, successfully escaped the five elders full attack (NOBODY has seen any of them and lived to talk about it, helped broadcast eggheads info to the entire world, and are now with the giants fleet.
