Mr. Gierash was an excellent character in this movie. He was a strict no nonsense teacher, he was hard on his students. He was also fair, and wanted to see the boys succeed. The way he quizzed his class by randomly calling out their names made learning history fun.
That’s the way our teachers were back in the 70s and 80s although this was set in the 1950s. Now days teachers can’t be that tough, too many snowflakes.
@@lisasmith767 Well said. Most of today's teachers - and, I am talking about those primarily in public school, simply could never do what Gierash does. They are mostly working cogs in a broken system where student accountability is thrown out the window and laid entirely on the teacher and school.
@@josejim31 no, the crip sheet was found after the teacher had already dismissed the class. Dillon block printed the crip sheet to conceal his handwriting style.
Rip Van Kelt and David should have turned Dillon in right away. I was thinking the teacher had seen the crib notes fall out of Dillon's book. Brendan and Matt did a great job along with the rest of the cast!
It was a very understandable position for both of them. One was a close friend and roommate. Would you really go and rat on your friend and roommate if you saw them cheating? The other is just holding it together from constantly fighting with Dillon and everyone else. Rattng on him would just open up hostilities again. That's one of the good reasons to fail the whole class. Somebody knows something, people always know something. That was rather uncool of Dillion to pull those racist jokes on David for being Jewish. Also, that was extremely and very wrong of him to use those notes to cheat on that exam. 📂🗂🖋✒✏📝
Charlie Dillon really tried to befriend David, but David just used that friendship to get closer to Sally. That's the real tragedy, that Charlie's friendship didn't mean anything to David. So David wasn't a good guy either. At least David could have asked Charlie if Sally is his girlfriend and tell him that she hit on David, but the way David acted, he betrayed Charlie. If David was a decent guy he would not have gone out with his friend's love interest and then maybe none of the following would have happened.
Never understood this. The instructor saw Dylan get bumped into and all of his belongings falling on the floor. He then walks over and picks up the ledger in the exact spot, Dillons belongings fell .It was really obvious who the cheater was. Lol
It's a crib sheet; small block letters arranged in compact notes within 5 or 6 rows. It's not meant to have ALL of the test answers on it, but rather just enough of them to give you a pretty decent edge as far as grading goes.
Haven't you ever seen a crib sheet before ? Block letters, small print to get as much info as possible on a tiny piece of paper. Who studies or takes notes like that ?
As a teacher: Who hasn't got the Info on the cheatsheet right is safe. Test the rest in an unprepared situation, so they can show what they actually know, use the new grade. Done.
Charlie was very stupid. If he cheated with The Crib Sheet, he should have put the Paper in his pocket. When you do something wrong the evidence is found in some way or another.
