Ledgering For Chub On Norfolks River Wensum After a rather unsuccessful mornings Perch fishing we completely changed tactics and headed off to a local stretch on the River Wensum, with the hope of catching a Chub or two. Desperate to get a fish on camera before the day was out, we fished roving style, dropping in any likely looking fish holding swims and presenting a ledgered bait to them. With the river and weather looking good for a fish or two, did we catch? Find out by watched the latest installment from the waters edge. As always we hope you enjoy the video, if you have any feedback, comments or questions then let us know! Tight Lines From The Waters Edge TV
Very nice chub and great video, some nice tips in there! Unlucky on the perch, but well done on that chub, it was a cracking fish, chub are probably currently my favourite species! Looks a lovely stretch! Tom
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed the video! Thank you for taking the time to comment. Yeah the Chub are a cracking fish, they are also a great species as they will pretty much feed all year round and in any conditions! Yeah the stretch is a lovely bit of river, well worth a look if you are ever down this way. It used to contain some really beautiful big Barbel too, but unfortunately they have been decimated by the Otters.... :-S
HampshireAnglingTV Thanks Tom! I must head over and check out your channel properly too! I have seen odd bits, but I'm normally too busy to watch anything properly! Haha! Tight Lines, cheers Chris
From The Waters Edge TV No problem and would really appreciate it, I mainly do river fishing, but will try for some other species come close season! And very understandable tight lines to you too Chris! Tom
Lovely Chub there, nice video. I fished my local river yesterday, first time i fished a river for years. Caught just the one small Roach fishing with just maggots, and missed 5 bites but i had a nice day and i didnt blank. Tight lines.
Thanks mate, i expected to blank on Monday, the main thing was just being on the bank beside a nice River for the day. Was a nice change to fishing commercials, tight lines.
Fantastic video Steve, I've been making the effort to bike a nice 9 miles to a local canal in Louth north east Midlands just to bait up 2 to 3 times a week getting ready for next week hope all the hard work pays off, and this June having a nice week down at river trent for some nice big barbel and chub got a lot planned this year let's hope you both achieve goals this year!
Hi Jason, glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to comment. Wow, thats some real effort and hard graft! I do hope you reap the rewards, I know alot of the time people say you get out what you put in, so fingers crossed this is the case for you! We quite fancied the Trent this year too... I know Steve has fished it before and had some Barbel and we thought it might make quite a nice video! :-) Good luck with your Canal fishing, hope the fish are on the 'pre-bait'! Tight Lines and be lucky.
Thanks Dan T glad you enjoyed the video and thanks for taking the time to comment! :-) Good luck with your fishing, hope you managed to bag a Chub or two!!! Tight lines, cheers Chris.
From The Waters Edge TV The one on my profile was 4lb 11oz, unfortunately I didnt have anyone with me to take a pic of me holding the 4lb 14oz but I did pic it with my phone. Looking at the weather, this weekend is looking likely :) Ive had great success with halibut down there for chub even in cold winter months. Ive used 11 and 16mm and both have produced chub well over 4lb. Well worth a try. Might give those source boilies you use a go as well they look the business!
Brilliant video and very enjoyable, might have to try this method myself when I'm next on the river, see if it'll somewhat produce for me. Awesome as always! :D
Thanks Matthew! Glad you enjoyed the video :D Yeah give it a go mate, just drop in swims that look 'Chubby' and I'm sure you'll winkle one or two out! If you do let us know how you get on! :-) Tight lines and be lucky.
Hi Simon, thanks for the kind comments. Funny you should say that, only last night were me and Steve chatting about it! Thinking about doing quite an indepth video on general rigs and tackle etc Things like elasticating a pole etc etc
Thanks for the kind comments Andrew, glad you enjoyed the video. You can fish that stretch on a day ticket, I believe it's around £6 although don't quote me on that! Best bet might be to ring the pub to find out. Hope that helps, cheers Chris.
Hi Steve, nice video again and I love the location. What a lovely river and a lovely chub. By the way...what size is that bait bucket you are using? Looks a good seat for the roving angler. Keep up the good work and hoping to see more of your quiver tip fishing. I like that method of fishing too.
Hi Mike, thanks for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed the video! :-) It is a lovely stretch of river and well worth a look if ever you are down this way! I'm not too sure about the bucket size, I can probably find out and send you a link across, feel free to private message me on here or on Facebook and I'll see what I can do! :-)
I had that feeling on saturday fishing the kennet, targeting barbel and (more likely) chub. I had one bite and caught a trout and a pike grabbed my maggots on the retrieve and I caught that too! Should have turned around as soon as I saw the river and gone piking instead :S
Haha, unlucky mate! It is a funny old time of year at the moment, especially after all the storms etc Roll on the spring I say!!! By the looks of today and the rest of this week it might not be too far behind... well fingers crossed!!! :-)
Hi Team Pirate, yeah Steve uses a G20 and I know he loves it! If you send me a direct message on here or on our Facebook page I can send you a few details and some links etc :-)
Hi guys, I always enjoy your videos, very informative. I just wondered what ready made paste that was? Is it a Dynamite product? Keep up the good work. Cheers.
Hi Simon, thanks for taking the time to drop us a comment and glad you enjoyed the video! The paste we used in this video was Sticky Baits Krill paste, straight off the shelf, no need to mix it or anything. Smells lovely too! We can see why the fish like it!!! Haha! :-)
Yeah I'm pretty sure they are Richard.
