I like the way how you thinking "you don't need a rod for every species".
    I enjoyed the video.

nice film, but i fish for carp & fished for chub in the winter for 30 odd years & have never used a 2.25 rod & 10lb line! i have a fox avon duo 1lb test & 6lb line. i've fished some real jungle swims & had them out to 6lb.

Like Rich said in the video, the venue was particularly snaggy and he likes to have one setup to cover a lot of his specimen angling rather than loads of different rods, so this covers him for chub, barbel, tench, bream, eels etc.

There does seem a tendency since carp angling became so popular for people to fish a lot heavier than necessary. I understand the need to have an all round rod for most non-carp situations but I have to say that 2.25 tc and 10lb line is way beyond what I would feel comfortable with and may be balanced tackle for barbel fishing in the summer months but is way too much for chub, even with the usual snags we river anglers are used to. That being said, a really nice video.

Enjoyed the video, mainly target Pike in the winter with lures and pick up the odd Chub as well, will be out this winter with Chub gear, I understand what was meant about the heavy tackle, I use a Northwestern AC6 with either 10lb mono or 20lb braid and use lighter hooklinks as required, if a Pike turns up the rod is up to the job, versatility is the key.

    Thanks for the advice!
We have just uploaded our most recent video all about 'chasing chub' and catching some surprises along the way.
You'll see in the video that your tips went a long way to improving my fishing!
    Thanks

Deluded much Robert? A good angler catches the best from wherever he fishes not just picking the best venues.

Shame he didn't go through the cheese paste recipe besides that it was an awesome watch, well presented and some lovely chub in the mix. Wicked.

Nice video but a bit over gunned in my opinion. A 1.25tc or feeder rod with 6lb line would do the job perfectly.

Yes I agree way over gunned..

Agreed, though if a river is very weedy then maybe I’d step up to 8 or 10 pound line but use my John Wilson quiver
