Thank you very much for this work-around! Surprised that Blackmagic Design hasn't built this into Resolve yet, but appreciate your help with this in the meantime. Cheers!
I really would like to know about DCP deliverables with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos. And to be backwards compatible with 7.1 surround sound movie theaters. I hope to see this in a future video.
Thanks for this very informative video. How does one play the combined Atmos/video file on a multi speaker playback system? What application can be used to properly send 7.1.4 Atmos audio from this encoded video file to the hardware speaker outputs, presumably using an audio interface to feed the physical amp/speaker hardware? Can the encoded video be uploaded to RUclips and played via a streaming device such as Apple TV to an Atmos receiver? Also, since I am not using Resolve, but in fact mix Atmos on Pro Tools, can the normal ADM file be used with the media converter you show in your video to combine that audio file with a video file without using Resolve? Thanks!
You should be able to use AWS mediaconvert to marry a video with an Atmos ADM. For playback there are ways to use playback over HDMI, but I have not done that myself.
Hello sir thank you for guiding us for Dolby Atmos MP4 Video file. But there is an same issue as in dolby renderer . Output levels are very low then actually sounding in Nuendo while mixing.there is an major difference in levels between ADM wav file & Encoded MP4 File.plz guide us. Thank you..
Hello Michael, I really appreciate that you make these videos. I am learning so much from you and I really appreciate it. I have made an Atmos mix and want to figure out the permissions portion of AWS. You said you linked it in the description but I am not seeing this. I will kepp looking but I thought I would reach out first. Thanks again for making this content!
Thanks! AWS is a bit of a usability challange and is also constantly subject to change. I haven’t looked at it for a while but people tell me that it still works the way described in the video.
Hello sir I have one doubt regarding your Atmos export setting .DD+ JOC is a 5.1 Channel codec and how it can translate into 7.1.4 speaker setup system ?
If you need to work with that level of quality you might want to invest in the IMF Studio Software Suite by Fraunhofer. That's allows you to edit IMF deliverables, including working with Dolby Atmos deliverables.
Yeah but its expensive and requires a dolby atmos processinf box from dolby which is also expensive. Ergo why he's using AWS. The cloud compute rendering time probably costs less than the cost of rendering the file using the encoding.
Alternatively, you can combine the ADM (audio masterfile) with your associated h.264 video file in the Dolby Atmos Renderer (was Dolby Atmos Production Suite). The output of the renderer will be ec3 joc audio file muxed with the video, as a complete MP4 file. I play my files from a mac to an Apple TV 4K connected to a Marantz Atmos preamp (AV7703). The Marantz (as well as MediaInfo) reports the file as Atmos.
@@michaelgwagner I hope it's still relevant... I recently tried to manually mux a masterfile.MP4 with the VideoFile.MP4 using tsmuxeR. That failed because it produced a ".ts or .m2ts" format file, which is useless. I found a program called "MP4-Mux-Tool", which successfully muxed the audio and video to an MP4. Curiosity led me to the Dolby article "Can I add my own video to the MP4 file exported from the Renderer?", and revealed the custom video setting in the renderer export options. Since we need the renderer to produce the MP4 version of the ADM, using the renderer to do the muxing seems most straightforward. Thanks for all the great content you produce...very inspiring!
I have not looked at Logic yet. Merging with video depends a lot on what your deliverables are required to be. If you drliver to a streaming service such as Netflix, they expect IMF deliverables. Thr best/easiest way to do that is through DaVinci Resolve.
Ok help needed. Every time I use AWS media convert I get a file output that’s 5.1 only. My ADM file has 19 channels and has height channels etc, so 7.1.4, but the output from AWS only comes out at 5.1? I followed the tutorial and double checked. My ADM file in media-info shows all channels and the objects but it’s only converted to 5.1. What could I be missing? Thanks for any help anyone can offer.
The DD+JOC encoded mp4 is a 5.1 encoded file with additional metadata that allows reconstrucing the Atmos experience. Unless you have a player that can decode DD+JOC t 7.1.4 you will see and hear it as 5.1. This is do that it gracefully downgrades on older, non-Atmos systems.
@@michaelgwagner Thanks Michael. So the system (my PC) sees it as 5.1, but the mediainfo program also will only see it as 5.1? Mediainfo will tell you the encoding but not more. It sees a 5.1 in DD+JOC. This is a lossy encoding scheme, the original objects are no longer visible.
Is there any way to export a Dolby TrueHD lossless version of your master Atmos file (yes, we still have the Blu-ray disc format or the newest Apple Music for premium lossless audio) or do you need to import the master file into separate Dolby Production Suite software (which costs quite a bit)? Thanks!
aws rejected me for providing a 38 channel track. He says provide 12 or 16 channels for Dolby Atmos output. But I used 10 bed channels and 28 object audio. But aws seems to recognize it as 38 bed channels. I think I'm doing the master file output wrong, can you give me some advice please?
