We tend to have some good times! This time we actually had some kooky old drunk guy come yelling at us wanting to fight us because we were being "too loud" even though the entire restaurant was at a roar level of loudness in general.
Growing up where we did, I can remember numerous restaurants that were cash only. So, for me, this is somewhat nostalgic. And don't let that stop you because you'll miss out on the outstanding food. That chicken is something special...some of the best in the Greater New Orleans area. And, of course, the Oysters too! This is one of those unique places that I don't get to often enough, but it's always special when we do. Great unspoken history as well. I can't wait for my next visit! GREAT video for a great restaurant. - The Commodore
I am kind of disappointed that the video ended a little too soon. You have covered a nice stretch of New Orleans and I will be looking forward to seeing the next episode. Like and support from Bangalore
In Italy , they don't serve spaghetti and meatballs. It's 2 separate orders I heard. Never been there although when I was in the Air Force I requested to be assigned there
That is true they don't do the two combined. Some of them also get very furious when Americans call our Italian food "Italian food" as their position is that only food in Italy can be called "Italian Food" even when actual Italians from Italy are making the American Italian Food... So I guess they just have to be unhappy because we ain't gonna stop calling it Italian food just like in Italy they call Chinese food "Chinese food" and Spanish food "Spanish food" so they sorta forget that 😀
They have meatballs and spaghetti in Italy, but the meatballs in the spaghetti are tiny. An Italian on RUclips makes it on his channel called Vincenzo’s plate. Once Italians got to the USA where meat was plentiful, their meatballs got bigger. Much bigger. Type “Vincenzo’s plate spaghetti meatballs” in the RUclips search and see for yourself.
@@NOLAGent1 Yes I know. Many locals like myself know the story. The place is notoriously known to have been Carlos Marcello’s and the Matranga family a.k.a the New Orleans family meeting place with Marcello owning the property itself then.
@@NOLAGent1 Yes I can imagine. I’ve been there numerous times but I haven’t noticed any politicians there when I was there or I was just too busy stuffing my face!
I used to work for the state and local government in Jefferson Parish so I get to recognize a few that many other folks might not know about as we have a LOT of people in government 😀
I may be misremembering, but I thought they have an ATM handy in the restaurant to handle the cash-only request. Same with the famed Joe T. Garcia's Mexican restaurant in Fort Worth, Texas. Cash only probably helps pay the help a little better in the long run, ha.
They still have an ATM with a fee of course. Lots of places have a credit card fee that seems to be getting pretty substantial these days too. The credit card companies must be making a fortune!

A real New Orleans restaurant
Very old school.
@@NOLAGent1 I know I have eaten there back in 1979 and few times later . Biggest oysters in New Orleans ✌️
Many places are having trouble finding oysters these days!
Your little group always goes someplace great!!

That looks good! Glad you enjoyed your get together!
A good time was had by all!

The prices of the wines 🍷 they should throw in the food for free. Have you ever eaten an entire meal based on the appetizers?
I have eaten a few app only meals but not very often.
An old mafia hangout
The old Godfathers family still owns the property and leases it to the restaurant so the story goes.

Seems I used to see a lot more local politicians out there as well but there are still often some out there.

No credit cards and no separate checks. Surprised they don't tell you how to dress. Not my kind of place. Glad you enjoyed.
Safe Journey!
CHOLULA!!!
They got some rules 😀
Looks like they don’t need your patronage😂
Cash only, not interested or impressed with this throwback rule!
Used to be a LOT of cash only joints in NOLA. Not so many anymore BUT plenty do an upcharge credit card "fee" and a lower cash price.
