DfC ships aren't fighting at orbital speeds, they're crawling along with magical null-grav systems keeping them in the air. That's why the maps actually make some sense, and why Orbital Decay works the way it does. Break the anti-grav systems enough, drop like a rock and die.
Shake only on a 6. The real "counter" to them is that there aren't very many of them, the ships that carry them are all very expensive, and despite the hype they will not reliably one-shot a cruiser, much less anything heavier. They've also "only" got a 50% chance to crit when they hit, and if you get to take saves against one's damage their actual impact is pretty small - and Shaltari can just raise shields against them to guarantee those saves (which explains why that race doesn't even bother with torps). The Scourge torp does a lot less immediate damage and will take a pretty long time to actually kill a big ship with the Corruptor rule, making it better used for swatting cruisers. And whatever you do, never fire a torp at a target with Atmospheric or they'll just dive to the deck and scrub off your shiny super-weapon.
Actually you're better off with Light Debris than Heavy for that trick. Marginally less likely to damage your ship and it removes a torp (or any launch asset counter) on a 3+ on 1d6, rather than a 5+ like dense debris. Either way you've got a fair chance to take a point or two of damage yourself, which is better than a direct torp hit but still painful, especially if you don't shed your pursuer.FWIW, if you roll a 4-5 when trying to evade by maneuver you do delay the torp impact by a turn, giving you a little more time to react. So that approach isn't quite as bad as I made it sound in my earlier post.
Yay. Not only has Hawk shipped two runs to retailers before fulfilling KS orders and repeatedly lied about the status of the KS, they're now selling wave 2 in stores before the KS is done. Hawk?! How can you possibly feel good about yourselves? I'd never imagined that Hawk would be so dirty underhanded and deceptive. True colors now I guess. Feel bad for Chambers having his name sullied by association
That's the really important question, isn't it? They'll make troopships a lot more viable the minute they come out, and people won't be able to rely nearly as much on strike carriers any more. Far more important to fleet construction than battleships IMO.
Good job hawk. I will probably be getting my preordered battleships and the wave 3 video from bow before I get my ks pledge.
Cheers,
Tristan.
Dave is so uncomfortable with the praise for his CAD skills. It's adorable.
But I would also like my Kickstarter stuff to arrive!
thumbuped for the wish to receive the KS stuff, the feeling is mutual
My stuff arrived today! No notification from Hawk, just an email from the courier to say it was in a van
Would be more interesting if I had actually received wave 1. How about sending that out before advertising wave 2!
Completely off topic but normal orbital velocity is 8km/s so all the maps would be shooting past. But ignoring that the game looks glorious.

Is there a way to counter torpedoes? They sound unbeatable.
Are there boarding actions? Is in boarding ene,y ships and trying to take them over?
You can do a course change and they shake of with a 5+? You can also fly torugh a debris field to kill them.
Ah cool, I must have missed that rule. I don't have the book, so I'm mostly in the dark here.

Wasn't also flying trough dense debris a trick?

So now another broken Hawk promise of Kickstarter backers getting their pledges before wave 2 release. But at this point it's only par for the course.
Corvettes when?
