I remember this well. Saturday night 29 July 1972.. on Monday 24 July 24 1972 my friend Tommy donlon got hit by a car in waltham mass he died my other friend lived mike mckeon..we buried him on Friday 28 July 1972. Tommy was 14 we had just gotten out of 9th grade. That Saturday night I watched this I remembered this hit by the letterman in 1967 October. It was a sad week for me I never got over it. I still miss him. In fact the first time I heard this great song was on Ed Sullivan show ..The letterman they sang this song. 1967 October..to my friend Tommy donlon Sept 14 1957 July 24 1972.. still miss you , he's buried in calvary cemetery waltham mass. The night I watch this show the song made me cry very tough week for me.

Strange recording. They were lip syncing to a recording of them doing a previous live show. The tell is the live audience doesn't applaud when applause is heard on the music track.

There is applause, but no one was applauding. Was Bob Barker applauding off-stage into his microphone?

I think the hair was actually real. I tried to have the same haircut as a teenager and wear some similar clothes but not these costumes.
