- Qualifying for the PDC World Championships at the age of 16 was itself an accomplishment, but for British darts phenom Luke Littler, it was only the beginning. During an improbable two-week run through the tournament, "Luke the Nuke" became a sensation across Europe, appearing on TV talk shows and seeing his Instagram following grow from 4,000 to more than 1.2 million fans. His championship match was the most viewed non-football sporting event in Sky Sports history with 3.7 million viewers. Endorsements with Škoda, boohooMAN, Target Darts and Prestige Building Supplies soon followed, and Littler believes he's at the forefront of an explosion in darts popularity. "The world's gone mad [for darts]," he says. "It's one of 'em sports where you're standing there throwing some tungsten into a board and you're winning yourself some money and you creating yourself some legacy."

It's not just his talent, he got nerves of steel and thrives on stage. Fantastic is an understatement
Love Forbes talking about Luke/Darts in general, hopefully more and more people get their eyes on darts so the Sport can grow even bigger than it already is😊
Unfortunately forbes are nothing now like most legacy media 5k views and 10 comments. Quite embarrassing
AGREED 10 % - way more exciting than football these days
He is so down to earth. I hope all the fame and fortune does not change him. He has brought a lot more people to watch darts or follow his progress. Darts will be better for it. He has changed the game in many ways. Well done Luke and all the best for your future. You are going to win loads of titles in your career.
I've been a darts fan since 1982 when Jockey Wilson won the worlds, and this is really what the sport needed. Barry Hearn has done an amazing job growing the sport, but Luke is like an injection of adrenaline for it, and good on him.
Just keep being you Luke, you are making a lot of us old fans happy for you.
Amazing video! He really is an inspiration 😊
He's got fire for me to fight it through however with a down to earth nature.
Well done Luke pleased for you
Making the darts world proud, the UKs support you
Well done I've got a lot of hope in you 🎯💖
Love this man made me love darts like i was a kid again can't wait to see what the future holds world no1
Man? He's 17.
@@LCFCV9 he is more mature than many men I cross on a daily basis .....
@BlueHopi144 I bet you come across 'swords' with many men don't you.
If youve never played darts, I highly suggest going and playing and seeing how difficult it is just to get it to go anywhere near where you want, my local pub has darts and now when I go me and my mate always have a quick game but it’s so unbelievably difficult I’ll never understand how he hits the tiny triple 20 nine times in a row
It's been really interesting to watch this guy rise to such a high level of fame. The thing is, he's not exactly a super charismatic or dynamic personality, but he is very grounded and mature for his years, and he's just really, really good at throwing a lump of metal into a circular disk.
Legend
he is such a down to earth lad he is great to watch he is going to be a big star for darts for years to come
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA DOWN TO EARTH?
@@AlastairBarker if you don't get that saying then im guessing you not from the UK or the US its a English saying
Hes 35.
Atleast!!!!
Crazy genetics to look this old at seventeen, hopefully he says looking like this for the next 10 years to let his age catch up 😅
I wouldn't describe him as an athlete
Nothing wrong with that especially when you probably aren't an athlete as well!
A simple game that anyone can play....but it's very hard to play well and for a teenager to make great professionals look ordinary 😮 My wife and daughter watched Luke and they don't normally watch darts !!
His obvious skills aside, I am having great difficulty with Luke being described as an ‘athlete’ and I suspect he would too.
I think he was the biggest name in world sports for a couple of weeks.
still is bro .....and will for years
@BlueHopi144 Wouldn't quite go that far but is still massive and great for the darts.
@@johngreenhorn8853 he will be here for years .... 😊
@@BlueHopi144 STOP TALKING PONY.
17 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
He helped bring some life into darts again. Luke is right, he’s on the forefront of darts really growing! Hope he stays humble and focused. That’s a lot for a young man to take with media and all. I also heard he’s looking after himself better by losing some weight. Too much weight for his age. He’s got a trainer now. Which will help a lot too.
U do not use the word athlete to describe a darts player, or snooker player or golfer, they're a sportsman. How could u possibly describe a darts player as an athlete Lol!!
because being an athlete is not just about physical fitness...
@BurnedNerd the term athlete refers to the athleticism of the practitioner. Littler should more properly be referred to as a sportsman. As brilliant as Littler may be, there's no way u can realistically describe him as a professional athlete!
TRY HITTING THOUSANDS OF GOLF BALLS, PLAYING EVERYDAY AND PRACTICING TILL YOUR HANDS BLEED THEN PLAY A TOURNAMENT PRACTICE BEFORE AND AFTER AND THEN TELL ME ITS NOT AN ATHLETIC SPORT.
@AlastairBarker it doesn't require u to be a world class athlete, the intensity of athletic effort isn't the same as other sports like track and field, tennis, football or rugby. Anyway, we were talking specifically about darts, u are not trying and tell me darts players are athletes are u?
Athlete 😂
Just phenomenal awesomeness! Just love this young man he’s so special! Take note he’s like a Mike Trout , Michael Jordan,Walter Payton, Messi, Serena, you see where I’m going. Karen and I have followed him the last few years. I picked him to win the World last year and even the the Brit’s across the pond thought I was nuts. Not so. Go on Luke your the Dogs bullocks! 17 yr old boss of the stage! As an American Baseball fanatic and sports in general. This is awesome. Credit to his Mom and those of influence behind him. Great job. He’s focused!
STOP COMPARING HIM TO GREATS FFS RAIN IT IN,
are you wearing a wig Luke ?
Luke is English, so call him that. If he was scottish or welsh that is what you would rightly call him. Stop conflating british with english. Anglophobes
Wah wah wah
Lol Andy Murray was definitely called Scotlands first Wimbledon champ right?
@@mccann82 no but he was called scottish and the first British mens champion in whatever it was. However tennis and darts, are organised differently. There is no scottish olympic team and no scottish davis cup ream only british ones. Thats why tim nice but dim henman was referred to as british when brifains number one. But gary anderson was never referred to as british, not when winning the world championship or playing for his team, scotland in the darts world cup. Similarly gerwyn price is,akaays referred to as welsh and of course when in the welsh world cup darts team. But littler is called british when there is no british world cup of darts team. I hope you get it now
@@johnsmith-eh3yc Glasgow Celtic get called the first British winners of the European Cup John. They were actually representing Scotland.
@@mccann82 youve just made my point. Football (except recently in the olympics) has always been england and scotland as when England, not Britain won the worldcup. As ive said tennis teams in the olympics and davis cups were British, and the top players were referred to as british ie Andy Murray and before him virginia wade who won wimbledon. No one called her English, only British. In darts, as in football players usually represent theiir nation. If you look at a darts match you will see Eng, Sco, Wal etc by the players name never GBR. And as ive said the worldcup of darts does not have a british team. So while murray was called british and scottish depending on the situation, darts players are always called by their nation EXCEPT in this video . Christ its not that difficult!
Athlete? Behave yourself
not a massive difference with golfers, its all about controlling your nerves, certainly in the traditional definition not an athletic sport, but in terms of mind / body control its maybe the most demanding.
@@matt-uc1ri totally correct
@@matt-uc1ri GOLFERS ARE MORE ATHLETIC THAN DARTS PLAYERS, FFS
" Athlete " 🤣🤣
Everyone is getting sick of this Arrogant lad
we all know u live with deep jealousy & frustrations towards his talent .....if only u could carry yours properly .

Athlete do me a favour, ffs
THEY REALLY ARE MILKING THIS NOW, FFS YES HES UBER GOOD BUT LETS NOT START COMPARING HIM TO ALL TIME GREATS YET SHALL WE, ATHLETE? ERM NO SORRY DART PLAYERS OTHER THAN GEZZY PRICE ARE NOT ATHLETES.
Athlete? You've got to be joking. He's an amazing darts player but he's no athlete, that's for sure.
Get a clue Dude! It’s great for the sport. Don’t be a square. Have another Pint or shot on Luke!😂
