I agree with you about paying attention to the Business aspect of Technology. This line of thought led me to the business school to blend my technical skills with business skills. Many companies are not paying attention to making sure there is alignment between their vision and their technology. The bridge to make that happen is via Enterprise Architecture (EA). Most organization still do not have EA functions.
Even deriving insights is not the end game. You mentioned outcome based which is exciting but deriving insights is not the end game. Naughts is an intermediary outcome. Deriving insights is a guess game; ever changing context make insights derived from the past unreliable indeed. The way around that is contemporaneous feedback loops. Also focus on aligning technology with vision.
